Humble Bundle V

Braid is an amazing game and I'll give you a hint, the puzzles are so deep most people don't realize when the game is really over. ;)

Kind of hoping they release the soundtrack for it too, it's got some amazing tunes I would love to have in FLAC.

Doh! Is that common practice on these...to add games midway through? I've never paid attention before. Don't suppose we get the extra games added to our Steam libraries if we already paid more than the average?

Yes, just go to your original email and click the link again, then click for the keys. New stuff should be there. They gave me the new stuff and I was below average (already owned most of it)

Oh shizz they added Braid. Gosh I really love this bundle. Braid is one of the games that really showed me how good indie games could be.

braid, bastion, and psychonauts. THE best indie games. i cant believe you can get them all in one deal for under $10...

Got braid, bastion and super meat boy by going back to my link. There is another steam key option. Only paid $1 too

Had to bite wanted to play bastion for a long time now and some of the others also wish I could gift some of them but whatever.

I purchased my first bundle. I owned Amnesia but didn't have any of the others and have been hoping Limbo & Super Meat Boy would hit the $2.50 price point during the next Steam sale. Now I got a whole bunch more games to try for $10 total.

Best Humble Bundle yet! I already owned most of the games, but these are choice games.

Thank you for paying more than $1...I can't believe some people are so cheap! I know it's a "you set your own price" event but I have to think they count on people tossing them at least a few bucks. Even if they could keep doing bundles like this successfully with only minuscule donations, there are so many reasons to chip in more. The devs deserve it; we should be supporting innovative games like these because most people don't spend hundreds of hours making great games like Braid and Psychonauts and Amnesia with the idea of giving them away for free...if we show support they will continue to want to make great games. Besides that, even if you don't think the devs deserve squat (and in that case I have to question why you're buying the games in the first place), at least toss a few bucks to charity and get the games essentially "free." Most of the time when you donate to charity you don't get ANYTHING back except a warm fuzzy feeling...this way you get that warm fuzzy feeling and several great indie games along with it.

Yeah, I paid $8 and I feel I cheapened out tbh, considering the amount of content you get and the fact that they're STILL adding games to the bundle... But I've bought every bundle over the last year for $10+ so ehh, I'll toss them a few more bucks or adjust the distribution in the dev's favor next time. These bundles are well worth supporting.

It could be argued that 7 out of the 8 games in the bundle are already very successful, and some were even published by major studios. This isn't like support groups of poor developers with games that no one ever purchased. For example Swords and Sworcery has sold over 350,000 games, most at $4.99 on the Appstore. Even after Apple's cut that is around $2 million.

Plus when people spend $1 for the games (or a penny), it triggers a response in other people that makes them spend even more to "make up for it".

Then you go to a place selling actual indie games, and no one buys the stuff: http://www.indieroyale.com/ Only 20K bundles sold on the last sale, at an average of $5.

Fair enough, but just because some of the games were previously successful doesn't mean you get an automatic "pay next to nothing" card. If the games were successful, it's obviously because they were good. And if they were good, they are worth tossing over a few bucks for. Maybe a game that sold $2 million on the Appstore could make another $500,000 in the Humble Bundle, and that's not pocket change. $500,000 shows a lot of interest from the PC market and would go a long way towards the development of another game.

Also you may raise a valid point as far as the responses, but the fact is we don't know that someone paid an obscenely low amount for the bundle until/unless they post saying as such. So for every "Great bundle, in for $0.01 HERP DERP" forum post that generates a few more higher contributions to make up for it, there might be 20 or 50 more cheap ass gamers who could spend more, but don't because they are allowed to buy these games for as little as possible.

Whether these games were developed by indie devs or major game studios is somewhat irrelevant when you realize that good games are worth paying for. That's why some of us get pissed off at pirates who say "Oh wellz, Rockstar already made a gazillion dollars selling GTA IV on consoles and the PC version has annoying DRM so I'll just download it." If everyone downloaded the game, the devs/pubs would have no initiative to bring future titles to the PC because of lack of profit. They aren't bringing these titles to PC with the expectation that we should enjoy their efforts for free, or a penny or a dollar. If someone antes up to the table with a genuinely enjoyable game, I think they should be rewarded for it whether the title has earned them a hundred dollars or a million dollars on other platforms.

I never owned any of these games. I feel like the luckiest boy in the world. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I will tell my bastard son, "One day, you will appreciate $8."

I paid 50 cents for HB 4 and I have played less than 5 minutes total for all the games. I bought this one for $1 and i probably wont play any of them. I am pretty much just giving them money so $1 i think is pretty good.

nah, costs them ~$.50 for the transaction, so if you leave it with the default split youre giving each dev/charity probably about 5 cents. so really its not good at all. if i were humble bundle i would definitely make $5 the minimum. i love the pay your own price scheme, but theres a point at which its just too low and doesnt help the devs at all.

It helps bring down the average though :p

It's awesome that they added games to this one. It's rare to see that kind of thing out of developers these days

Uh, no, it's the other way around. Maybe you should learn how math works before getting all smug on the internet.

wtf bro? are you really arguing that giving less money increases the average amount given?

1+2+3=6, 6/3=2
1+2+4=7, 7/3=2.33~

Now drop the off-topic mathematics talk and discuss the bundle.

Thanks, that link is handy. I wonder why they went to the Roman Numeral system starting with ver. 5.

And oddly when you register it on steam it's called Humble Bundle 8. However I didn't read that wiki so forgive me if that was explained there.

only missing swords and sorcery and lone survivor. bought it for $10 anyway. too bad the keys are split so the 2 im missing are on different keys. i might just add all of them to my secondary account. should have done that with the indie bundles from the start to keep from cluttering up my steam account. :)

That's odd. Now, Wiki didn't mention anything about Steam calling it HB8.

BTW, according to Steam, the HB5 sale runs through 6/13/12.
