Who are you even talking about? You seem to be arguing against some nonexistent boogeymen and 1 or 2 blatant trollbaiters. This has been quite a good thread, pretty free of fanboyitis.
 
I have all three consoles I didn't have a problem paying 399 for a PS3. I thought it was a much better deal than the 360 with wireless, Bluetooth, and a Bluray player along with free online play. Also I am really not seeing a giant wave of 360 exclusives that people keep mentioning.

Disregarding the Wii, the $299 360 Elite is the overpriced unit now. 300 bones and it doesn't even come with wireless as a pack in item yet? and I need to pay to play games online? What a joke.

lol better than us paying for it right? Its not like live really does anything for you, I mean if microsoft really was hosting the servers than the gears of war 2 servers wouldn't be so damn bad. But anyways, I opened this thread to see what others prediction are for the future. As like many others here I own all three consoles. I was hoping that the PS3 picks up so I can get some more games out of it.
 
PS3 games are the same price as 360 games, so you are getting online gaming free with the PS3. Add up what 5 or 6 years of Live costs, and the 360 is a complete ripoff.

that's becaues the delveopers spread the cost amongst all the game platorms. if they included the cost of hosing stuff on the PSN in the price of PS3 games, you'd be paying more for them
 
The PS3 will never catch up. The 360 doesn't have the bluray cost anchor. MS will go toe to toe with the PS3 on price drops all day long.

ok so then why should people pay the same for a 360 to get significantly less hardware capability?

I know alot more people with a 360 then a ps3. Infact, doubled.

They probably can since MS did not include alot of things in the 360 that the PS3 does have, be nice so I could pick up one of the newer 360s that "supposedly" fixed the RRODs.

This is what i'm saying. If the new $299 price for the PS3 actually starts gaining ground, It won't be the same price for long. It's not like just because the PS3 has come down in price, the 360 can never come down anymore from where it already is. Because of not having included bluray, it will be able to come down much easier than the PS3 ever will. MS isn't just going to shoot themselves in the foot and stubbornly watch the ps3 pass them by refusing to drop the price.
 
It's quite possible that they'll give the PS3 a year of catching up by a couple of million before going all out with the new Natal (and potential slim) model.
 
IMO, Sony should make a bold move and introduce a special, cheap version of the PS3 without a Blu-Ray player, and price it at around $230-$250. That would be a hit.

yeah I remember hearing a few months ago about one columnist speculating that sony was going to drop bluray from the ps3 to reduce costs. People just don't think sometimes.

As an xbox owner I'm happy about the new ps3 slim and price, that means that the elite will drop, and that means that the 120gb hd price should drop to a reasonable level(1/2 current price would be sufficient). If it doesn't drop then I'm gonna just trade in my 20gb 360 with all the games and move to a ps3 slim, most my games are cross platform anyways.

So you're saying Sony should make you buy both the PS3 and a separate Blu-ray player, force you to hook them up together in order to play the games, and charge more for that setup than the current PS3 costs. :confused:

It will continue to be an awesome blu ray player, I will buy a slim model for the living room, and I will continue to play games daily on my 360. Because at the end of the day, I have 15 friends with 360's, and 2 with PS3's. This new model doesn't look to be changing that.

One of those friends only uses his as a blu ray player as well. I'll cry when my 20gb model dies tho, no more BC on PS3 makes me a sad panda.

I will probably do the same at some point. I already have a PS3 but rarely play it. I will get a slim down the line maybe around xmas for a living room blu-ray player.
 
My plan currently is to sell my 60 gig version in favor of a slim (assuming it is in fact quieter, my 60 is loud :()

First have to convince the wife I need a third new lcd tv too though :D Then I'll get the slim and probably another 360 for a total of 2 360s, 1 ps3, 1 wii, and 1 gamecube
 
i never knew an elite came with a rechargable controller....unless it was a package deal of some sort....

They can introduce a combo pack that bundles the PS3 and the external Blu-ray players for a good price.
 
lol at the external drive idea as that would cost them MORE money to make......not to mention negate one of the biggest advantages you have?

Sony should have made the BD rom an addon from the start

Sony probably would have lost the HD format war if they did that.
 
i think ps3 will do surprisingly better with the price drop.
also viewing lots of external polls and reading many comments, there are allot of people ready to shell out the dough on the first of sept.

it may not catch up to the 360 (who knows), but i think they may rise above the financial comfort zone.
