it IS sitting on a window sill. the window sill measures 8" deep! in the pic, where the w3 occupies is the window opening! =P. i'm in the basement, i don't want people looking in anyways and all i see out is the parking lot. who cares =P.
well, the 37w3 i got was broken. it would pixel shift really badly and have horizontal tearing, etc. i had to return it to ecost.com. still awaiting $ via RMA. if it all works out, i'll keep saving for the 42"er. i currently have the 2001fp and the 37 is a big upgrade. it's perfect for what i do, HTPC stuff. now i'm thinking 42", but it's close to 2x the $. i paid around $730 for the refurbed 37w3. the tx42 is around $1400.
i'll wait. besides i have a 100" front projector for movies+7.1.
where's the coupons for tx42?
PS since tx42 is only hdmi inputs, does this mean your PC-out (eithere hdmi or dvi) will be limited to 1080i30 and NOT 1080p60? afaik, only standalone players can make 1080p60 possible via hdmi. PC's still have to overcome some limitations, yes?

Heck, fellow-HardForum members, its a "sad day for us all" when a Manufacturer deliberately kills his own best-seller and prolly the best-selling 1080P on the market
This famous Westy-37" changed Westinghouse overnite from being a no-name (Gamers would say "Westinghouse?----blah!!").to a Big name among Gamers looking for this "combo".....
Bigscreen Gaming1080P & PCmonitor + Lo price + Quality + Fit In Small area".
No other 1080P panel filled those "combo" requirements quite as nicely as Westy37-----it was runaway bestseller from Day-1.
You clueless Westinghouse marketing dept: .... look at this huge Hardforum Westy37 Thread (1/2 Million 'hits' & Thousands of posts).and other huge Westy37 threads like at AVS.
OK, enuff useless ranting.
I'm off to hunt News on other 37-40" 1080P panels (including Sony's new 40" XBR coming 2-3 weeks, which is said to be 'a killer'..we'll see)). Good luck to all.
This display quality variation is because VGA is analog and is subject to signal interference from other electronics. Supposedly, digital (DVI and HDMI) does not suffer from this.I use the vga out since thats all my W3J has, the funny thing is that some days its sharper than others, though I think this is either a cable/lappy problem since other users on avsforum don't report similar issues using VGA.
Hi, duce3. I also haven't posted in a long time, but I just have to rely THIS bit of information I just found out: the 37w3 is BACK IN STOCK AT CRUTCHFIELD. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-k2ppxYSIM9q/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=647LVM37W3
A tad expensive ($1199), but that includes free white-glove in-home delivery. This is where I bought it from, and could not have been happier with everything.
However, I am sure this is very temporary---as in, they only have one, two at the max. So if you're undecided, GRAB THIS WHILE YOU CAN!
A year ago, you spent $1000-$1200 and got a 37" 1080P monitor. Today, you spend $1000-$1200 and get a 42" 1080P TV. It isn't the end of the world folks. Westy isn't ignoring our market segment, they simply aren't allowing a lower entry price (ie, retaining the 37" at an $800-$900 price point long term).
The argument and outrage isn't that we are getting a 42" at the same price but that the 37" is about the largest you can go for a feasible computer monitor. The 42" makes you sit even farther away from it which is really pushing the limits of a feasible office solution. Don't get me wrong the price is falling on the 42 and the 47 since they are being replaced but we would like a 37" in their to because the size is great for the space if you only want to sit 2 1/2 to 3 feet away.
$799.. but I never heard of this place.

The store looks brand new. 1 review and not looking so good.

I have a 42". I sit 3' away. I really don't think that many of the people chanting "42" is too big!" have actually used a 42". At 3', even with glasses that restrict my peripheral vision a great deal, I do not have to move my head to read text at either side of the screen.
As for work use, hah! I have the utter joy of working for a large impersonal corporation. I am one of the lucky ones because I have a 19" LCD instead of a 17" CRT. Whether this beast could fit in my cube is absolutely inconsequential to me.

I suppose if you REALLY want the 37" westy this is your only option (from a legit dealer, with good CS)
Finally received my RMA replacement after more than 5 weeks. Packaged horribly, scratches on the top of the casing, and the backlight still buzzes. Fucking idiots.
Tech support claims that it's supposed to buzz. What an ethical company Westinghouse is.

Their service is horrendous. Nonstop lies, defective & damaged products, huge turnaround times, charging the customer for shipping. I'm waiting for a call from the supervisor; I want a brand new unit or a full refund.Dude it is not suppose to buzz, and that is very inconsenstent. I read a while back people have very good service, I guess they might not care anymore since it isn't going to be sold anymore.

So? Costco no longer has it. Now this is all one can find. And it's Crutchfield we're talking about. Look them up.Rip off. Costco had it for $799.

Just a couple days ago you could have got the TV 42" model from Best Buy for $1,035. That's $200 less, 5" more, and more HDMI ports and a QAM tuner...
I have. 42" is not necessarily more. It would be too big for me and others for whom 37" is the perfect size. But I do agree that with the release of the TX models the prices on the old LVM should go down.Uhh... so? you're willing to pay more for less? Read my post here:

Well, IMO the more the merrier, especially with monitors. I just wish my $799 (Costco) Westy37" didn't have a spew of dead pixels smack dead in the center. I'm holding out now for a 47" unless something catches my interest.
