I installed on Vista 64-all updated without any issue using the *easy* installation. Haven't had a chance to play the game yet.
If you do that first without trying to put it in some sensible location (like D:\Games\ for example), it will work.
I never install games to my C:\ drive, and I have not had a problem with it before, so I automatically just put it where all of my other games are. Apparently, that is not allowed with Ghostbusters.
BTW, it is available on Steam now.
If it's on Steam now, can you enter the CD code from the retail game you bought and then download it through Steam? I know this works with some games (like World of Goo).
Multiplayer for the PC version of Ghostbusters is something that Threewave and Terminal Reality always wanted to do. However, our focus was on making the console version the best that they could be - an experience that allows multiple players to re-live and re-fight many of the themes from the movies. When we looked at the resources necessary to pull off multiplayer on the consoles and the PC, it became a question of what could we do and still be excellent in our execution. We couldn't do all versions with multiplayer simultaneously with the resources that we had available - there was simply too much to do. Something would have to suffer. Therefore, we kept our focus on making the console versions deliver on the promise of being an integral player on the Ghostbusters team.
And now a word from Threewave:

I have a few issues and I wanted to know if anyone experienced any, none or all..
1.voice of characters seems extremely low.
2. crashing(happened 2 times, 1 when i went down into the basement and 2 after i started fighting the fat guy..(I am heavily overclocked so if anyone isnt having the same troubles ill back off a little and see.)
3. a little breaky in the beginning of the game in the office'
4. mouse movement seems a little odd, unsmooth in menus
5, cant remap all of my mouse buttons
6. graphics dont seem awesome from what ive played... what settings are you playing at and what graphics card resolution etc?
from the atari forum they have a few work arounds for their stupid install bug.. so check that out if you are having that issue..

Even if the PC version had multiplayer, the console sales numbers would have dwarfed the PC sales number (have you looked at the minimum spec?!)http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/06...comment-on-lack-of-multiplayer-in-pc-ghostbu/

'Nuff said.
Really. What else do you need to know after you see this?
Not like it hasn't been painfully obvious anyways.
At least these guys are being honest about it upfront. There's all kinds of games we could all name where it's painfully obvious the consoles were given the high priority and the PC version an afterthought.
they dont support people like us? i wont support people like them.

Pardon my French but this is a fucking crock of shit. No way can we return this to the store because its opened. Those of us who did buy it are pretty much fucked thanks to policies that stores have on opened merchandise. I see this as a defective product and we should be allowed to return it.
Bingo!
And this is before we even get into the one additonal thing they "gifted" PC folks with: Over the top, near Draconian DRM that punishes legit buyers! Yay! It's almost as bad as the DRM they put on that last Riddick game. I guess Atari just hates the PC or something.
I don't care if it's cheaper than the console version or not.
Atari didn't even make this game. Anyways buy it on steam if you dont want DRM hassle.
I was under the impression that this game was still saddled with the same DRM even over Steam.

Games that have 3rd-party DRM on Steam are labled as such. For example, FarCry 2 says "3rd-party DRM: SecuROM 5 machine activation limit".I was under the impression that this game was still saddled with the same DRM even over Steam.

No such warning on Ghostbusters.
Anyone having problems with the install, follow this guys instructions and it will work. At least it did for me.
1.
* Use the custom install option to select the destination you would like to install Ghostbusters on your PC
* Once the installation is complete (this can take up to 40 minutes) re-run the installer. This time select the C: drive as the destination location. The install should only take a few seconds
* When the second install is complete, copy the 7 files created in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Ghostbusters" folder and paste them into the "Ghostbusters" folder you originally selected for your custom install
* You will then be able to run the game normally
This is some of the dumbest installation mismanaged coding I have seen in a while. They didn't even run it through a proper installation designer tool? Really not even the Microsoft Visual Studio one?
Sour note for that. I guess lacking multiplayer and not installing to other directories easily is making threewave a few more black eyes.
