HL2 ep 1 HAD MORE GAME PLAY THEN THAT and cost less what are you people smoking
Well that sucks. I might buy it... when it hits the bargain bin for $10 or less. I really want to play this game but with DRM and no multiplayer I really feel that it's a total rip off even at $30. Silly Atari.
Why does every game have to have multiplayer?![]()
I don't think it will bomb as per say no one will play it. I think what you mean is mainly either people will wait till it drops to like 10 dollars. Or I think people will just pirate copies. I already preordered mine and im a little excited. The fact that there is no online does make me feel uneasy in the stomach and it kind of sucks. All the times I looked up the game I saw nothing about that being removed or not being part. It seems weird to me.
The best part is when atari is sitting their scratching their heads saying "I dont understand what happend, the perception of the game from everyone was excitement and joy" " I mean come on, all we did was slash the price in half and then remove half of the game? WTFBBQ?"
I don't care much about multiplayer either, but I was looking forward to it with this game. I had been planning on going out today and grabbing it, but then the whole no-multiplayer thing made me reconsider. Would be nice to have some real confirmation on retail purchased copies. I'm sure they'll patch it in later or something even if it really isn't there, but I'm certainly not buying it till they do.
...Should those complaints turn you of to Ghostbusters? Well, over on the PS3/360 review, I said "no," but that was in part because the game actually had a deep multuiplayer mode filled with challenges for you and your friends to tackle together while individually trying to grab as much cash as you could by trapping ghosts and destroying portals. Sadly, the six multiplayer matches, twenty levels of Ghostbuster ranks, and twelve maps are nowhere to be found in the PC version of this game.
That knocks some of the steam out of this $30 title. The actual story of Ghostbusters: The Video Game should take you about eight hours and the game doesn't support Achievements for your PC. So, the price is nice, but you lose a lot of what keeps me playing Ghostbusters on my PS3.
Is there really any doubt about this? The huge price difference alone should be the dead giveaway that, no, the PC version does not have a multiplayer component, at least at present.

Confirmed.
I really didn't think there was any doubt left on this subject.
Two reasons I preordered it. It's ghostbusters, I don't care who you are playing with a proton pack and a ghost trap is just freaking awesome. And second I received the 10 dollar thing ( atleast I hope I will, wanted to take my wife to a movie tonight and that would cover her ticket, oh i mean my ticket, lol)
The missing multiplayer sucks and makes me want to play it today(her birthday so not a chance) to make sure the singleplayer is worth it enough to consider 30 dollars. Ill give the developers this though, thirty dollars for 8 hours of gameplay is pretty freaking decent. Damn halo 2 and 3 were 60 for 360 and gave you maybe 6.
Ill write a little review on it when I play it myself hopefully will clear up some of this.
I just want a statement from them explaining. This is not a normal practice and lets hope that it doesnt become one either.
Its bad enough when these dumb companies release a series from a game and don't include pc like when call of duty 3 was released I mean wtf.??

If I hadn't already done the code redeem thing only to find out that no theater around here accepts the E-movie cash thing, I'd give you my code.
Eh, that sucks, you could let me try anyway? lol I should be getting it in my email today, HOPEFULLY before freaking 6 when I want to go see the movie after I make her dinner.. it will probably come at 8, after we are done watching it haha
you exchanged what for a new copy??? are you talking about the game isnt working????
or are you talking about your emovie thing? lol.. whats not working? its just an error.. I cant look at your link im at work with WEBSENSE.
After attempting to install the game and waiting for about 15 minutes as files seem to install on my pc a box pops up and states that the installer was interrupted and that no changes have been made to my system.
I just bought the PC version and tried to install and same thing happen
I have the same exact issue, I tried copying the DVD over to my comp and installing from that. No joy. Any other thoughts, ideas?
I'm having the same problem, and I'm running on Windows XP SP3. I even turned off my firewall..still nothing.
ok same problem here. Called gamestop and they will not take the game back. So I'm out the 30 bucks i guess. Thanks atari. Tell you what, you get it on steam and give us a code to download a copy that works and I'll be happy. Till then fix it, and fire the person that is in charge of this mess. Hell you think you would have done something about it with the last game. Guess im asking to much for a game company to be honest with the customers. Who the bigger pirate here?
Tried safe mode. Could someone point me in the direction if the security feature causing this? Maybe there is a work-around somewhere.
i also tried it on another xp pro box, and a vista box.. same error message on all.
Gaah! I just got my game and it does the same thing. Looks like we got another Defective installer like Terminator Salvation Fiasco. Thanks alot Atari.
i dont think its that, it doesnt even get to that part, it doesnt finish the install, no .exe in the install dir, i hope this comes out on http://store.steampowered.com/ pretty damn fast, and the cd-key works with it.
Turned off my firewall, turned off Anti-Virus, I have no emulators running...nothing. To think, I only found out that the game doesn't have a multiplayer after the failed install....I feel let down and ripped off.
same problem here, gets to the end of coping files, then starts removing backups and says installer was interrupted and not completed
UPDATE!!!!
from reading through those complaints about GHOSTBUSTERS NOT INSTALLING..
It seems that a lot of people were having problems. INSTALL it to the default location it asks for.. seems that worked for the few that tried that so far..
I havent gotten home to try it out.. SO I can't let you know if that works...
Man atari needs a back hand off a rooftop then smokered and then pounced down to an instakill death for this crap.
bah, I don't want to cross forum post and I don't have a username for atari.. anyway
did you just try doing the easy install? also there is other stuff in that forum about unpacking the bin and bla bla ill post the forum again read through it, ill give my update when I get home..
WHAT are you trying to install this ON? VISTA?

OK, so this last installation attempt succeeded.
If the installation fails, you'll need to clear your registry of all Ghostbusters related tags and try it again.
If you haven't installed it yet, try the simple installation first. It will put it in C:\Program Files\Atari\Ghostbusters or C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Ghostbusters.
(This annoys the shit out of me. Perhaps it is an unintented problem with the installer, but it is still crap.)
If it fails, try clearing the registry of Ghostbusters tags and install again.
If it still doesn't work....well...http://www.atarisupport.com/

This game is sounding like a huge bucket of fail on the PC right now. Sad, too, since I was really looking forward to it.
