Ghostbusters PC No Multiplayer

I think it's safe to say they shot themselves squarely in the foot by this move.

Perhaps...if they give me a patch for multiplayer, and soon, I can overlook their misstep.

i know some one from Hard was talking to them at some point we got that nice demo
maybe you guy could find out WHY it ripped out there were demos of it running on the PC with mutliplayer

Screw this game.

Another terrible console port designed for crappy console gamers who need to use crappy console controls. Can't stand the 3rd person over the shoulder camera. I will never play games with this camera angle, even if it's from my favorite franchises I simply refuse to play games of this type anymore. As far as online multiplayer for PC - the answer is simple - they are cheap and want to save money. To build multiplayer for PC, they would have to build their own multiplayer management system like a lobby or some kind of server backbone (unless they rely on Steam or Windows Live, etc.). For the consoles, they can just piggyback onto Xbox Live, etc.

FUCK!

I was realy looking forward to this game and had it on pre order for the pc with some friends who were all looking to co op play/go online with each other, now we've almost all canceled our pre orders.

This is just pure bullshit, no reason not to have MP on the pc version, absolutely no fucking reason.

Quantity is how we base games these days? Id rather have a good quality game over a game with alot of content that is pointless.

Screw that, I want both. Many games have provided both a good single player experience with a good multiplayer mode. I don't see why this isn't feasible.

I think you're confused on what were talking about.

I could care less about online co-op. as long as it is entertaining FPS I'm good :p

Ok, seriously.

Where is the proof of no MP for the PC version. All I've seen is people speculating off one guys comments from the lack of MP modes mentioned for the box art of the PC version of the game, but no outright denial of the MP modes not being in the game.

I mean we even have a dev interview here about the PC supporting online CO-OP in a dev interview along with the PS3 and 360 (no Wii):

http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/ghostbusters/interview.html (about halfway down the page)

Strategy Informer: Let’s talk about your multiplayer for a bit. You have online co-op, but have you any offline local multiplayer support?

Brendan Goss:We only have online co-op for the PS3, 360 and PC versions.

So seriously, where's the first hand undisputed proof of no MP for PC? As anyone actualy played the PC version yet, or is everyone just getting rabid on rumor and speculation from one guys comments on the box art?

How old is that interview?

Anyway, I'm waiting for word from Threewave or Atari on this. If my sight a more popular I would have contacted them as a member of the press, but I just hope my email was nice and "professional" enough to get a response.

First comment for that interview shows March 13th, so I'm guessing sometime around then.

Now I'm not saying that there is MP, because after all, this is Atari and they have certainly showed in the past that they can be that stupid. I'm just saying I can't believe that eveyone is getting their panties in a wad over what appears to be just one guys speculation.

Its fun to go crazy over speculation. Either way, I'll know if the game has MP or not on Tuesday, assuming UPS/Gamestop don't mess things up.

if nothing else having a cd key and multilayer function would have reduced the amount of people pirating the game, now if this is true there's no features that require a valid game key

wonder if this will be like spore all over again, piss everyone off and top the charts with torrent downloads, lol

Idiotic move on their part if true. This online coulda been tons of fun, i would love to hear their reason to exclude the original and best online platform from having a multiplayer component.

Doesn't excuse this, but I just checked Amazon and the PC version of this costs only $27.99 vs. the usual $50-$60 on the consoles.

QFE!

We need another good coop game for LANS - L4D is getting a bit old. The game looks awesome, regardless of multiplayer or not. +1 preordered

I guess the PC gamers won't be crossing the streams, eh? ;)

In all seriousness, looks like the DRM is simply online activation; i.e. net connection required, yet you don't use the net connection for anything else.

I just love progress, don't you?

Hey, at least its not the DRM cocktail that Riddick had. Sadly its SC7 over TAGES for activation though.

May not be the exact same DRM from Riddick, but I still bet it has limited install activations, before you haft to call up Atari and beg them to give you more.

Either way, I'm not going to be first in line to buy it, as I'm not a guinea pig.

Yeah, I'm betting limited installs too. It's sad that we PC gamers have to be worried about this stuff at this point, isn't it? ...DRM. :(

That's just a clever observation on the part of the writer.

If you read the back of the Ghostbusters PC game box and nobody pointed out that MP was missing you'd probably still assume that it had multiplayer.

The difference is that labelling is more strictly enforced with the PS3/Xbox360. With PC packaging all you really have to provide is the minimum and recommended specifications. Just b/c multiplayer isn't mentioned doesn't mean it's not there. I'm sure that IGN would have mentioned it in their review by now if it wasn't present.

I have yet to see a game with any sort of multiplayer that didnt have "xxx connection required for online play" or some variant of that.

the guy opened the PC box and the manual doesnt say any thing about multiplayer ether

With as poor as the coop is, its not a huge loss. The multiplayer modes seemed throw-away as well. Maybe fun for a few minutes, but nothing to last. At least that is the impression I'm getting from console reviews.

Yea, I still don't trust him, and would like some conformation from a second source.

This comment from him is a real gem thou:

I can't base any of the information on personal experience as I could not install the game on my computer.

http://www.ecto-web.org/~spookcentr...6/15/ghostbusters-video-game-pc-online-activa (third paragraph)

So the guy is obiously having DRM problems on top of everything else as well.

Of course Atari will just say that lack of PC sales are due to piracy...

So this basically means.. He has no proof if the PC copy has no multiplayer. Guess we will have to wait till tomorrow.

He is only going by the back of the box. I'm starting to get really suspicious of this guy.

Here is another article: http://www.ecto-web.org/~spookcentr...stbusters-video-game-pc-hidden-featur#more284

Note this quote:

Remember how I said that language.pod has text in it referring to achievements, leaderboards, and other stuff from the PS3/Xbox versions? Well, here's some menu text as proof. I just don't know if any of this stuff is accessible or can be made accessible from inside the game. The back of the PC box sure makes it pretty clear that there's no multiplayer or add-on content.

He better hope hes right. Otherwise hes gonna lose all creditability on his website for anything in the future.

There is no such thing as bad press, they say. This information has gotten his site some notice. Even if he is wrong, being reported on Kotaku already got him a lot of views.

Coop was the only reason I was looking forward to Ghostbusters. I won't waste my money on such a slap in the face.

HL2 ep 1 HAD MORE GAME PLAY THEN THAT and cost less what are you people smoking
