getting into bitcoining?

heh. I found it! my first block ever!

$7000 in hardware and it took a week

Hey another question on this, how is it on bandwidth? That could be my main determining factor on if I want to get into this as I don't have much bandwidth, especially upload. Less than a meg.

if you use a stratum connection to the server, its next to nothing

Guys, LTC payout address locking is in place. Once you check that and save, your payout addy can never be updated. This is an awesome security feature, as if your account got hacked for whatever reason, they couldnt cash out to their address.

Enjoy!

Nice....but....moar graphs!

To dumb it WAY down, lets play a game. I have the number 1 million. I want you to tell me what numbers I multiplied to get 1 million. If you pick the right numbers, I will give you a reward. Every hash is a guess...so if your hashrate is 1MH/s, your making a million guesses every second. Working as a team (pool), greatly increases the number of guesses you get to make but you have to share the reward with your team. The system definitely involves a good deal of luck...which InvasionNetwork seems to be running quite low on right now...

Edit: Jzegers....this is getting ridiculous...nearing 6mil shares an no block...are you just trolling us all and keeping the 10 blocks we've found so far??? :D

thanks for the explanation. it makes a lot more sense now

haha MC wait until that 6 million share round is updated, you will get more from the second one i bet

finally, basket # 4 is online... with 4 gpus

what a pain. Don't ever install the Catalyst drivers before you plug the gpu in. . One would think (at least I did) that reinstalling the drivers would make it work. But NOOO.

Or one would think that booting into safe mode and uninstalling drivers would work.
But NOOOO.
I had to reinstall windows.
Also, the wireless usb adapter turned out to be bad. Fun. Time to submit for RMA for a $10 item.

getting stratum errors

Pool 0 stratum share submission failure
Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted
Lost 18 shares due to stratum disconnect on pool 0
Pool 0 stratum share submission failure
Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted
Lost 11 shares due to stratum disconnect on pool 0
Pool 0 communication resumed, submitting work
Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted
Lost 7 shares due to stratum disconnect on pool 0

etc etc.

we broke 60mh/s!

Also, Jzerger, think you should start a thread just for Invasion? I know we have kind of taken this one over, but a new thread will help get the name out.

Maybe we can get official status as the official LTC thread of [H]

For the hunger game fans.

isnt difficulty supposed to rise indefinatley?

It's supposed to fluctuate so that only a certain amount of coin is released in the time period given. If not enough are being released, difficulty decreases. Too much...increases.

So, on 2012/08/12 10:39:07 I deposited some Bitcoin I mined into my MT.GOX account. I was interested in BitCoin mining and had played around with it for less than a day. I have 0.40816315 BTC in there.

Back then that wasn't worth anything, which is why I stopped mining because after I calculated electricity costs and shit it was not very profitable. I guess this is worth like ~$45 right now. Should I cash this out or just sit on it? (or change it for LTC or something?)

Id recommend sitting on it and see if the market makes it back up to 200+

Here's my first attempt at a mining rig case...first time working with metal and definitely don't have all the tools necessary yet...so its not square, the cuts aren't very clean, and there's probably about a dozen or more unnecessary rivets but, its strong and it holds up to six GPUs. Gotta build at least one more...maybe two...just waitin on Cablesaurus to send me my PCIe extenders so I can put the thing to use....maybe ill paint it black while I wait...

Just curious where you purchased the metal for that. Looking at potentially doing something very similar myself instead of buying something like the LIAN LI PC-T60B Test Bench. Would definitely like to try and do it myself plus I would have access to a bunch of tools at my work that would aid in the construction. Thanks.

Based on the sticker on the lower left in the bottom pic, looks like Lowes.

Indeed it was Lowes...I get a 10% discount there. I used all 1/8 inch thick aluminum and the angles are 3/4". Assuming all the Lowes stores are cookie cutter in layout, they have a section in hardware with a bunch of different bends in steel and alum. of various sizes and thicknesses.

Cool thanks for the info, I'll definitely check out my Lowe's within the next couple days.

Im going to pick up a table saw blade I can use to cut this aluminum with and, if I can get the structure to look halfway presentable, i'd be willing to build these for people. I'd imagine shipping would be pretty cheap as it doesn't weigh a whole lot...a couple pounds at most.

Would you accept Bit/Lite coins? ;)

Hmm, well I guess if you are serious and it's not too much, let me know. I just bought the materials to make one out of wood but I would prefer metal.

Might be a week or so...ive got a certification im cramming for this week so I wont be getting much done on anything else.

Haha, definitely no rush. I'm waiting for the new Nvidia cards to come out to shoot down the 7950's cost.

Before I finished the sentence I was already starting to think "Nvidia cards to dominate in BTC mining....this guy is looney"

I tried cudaminer with the 660 SLI setup I used to have and even a 295, but as much as I want an Nvidia card for gaming I just don't see it happening if I want to be able to mine. :(
