getting into bitcoining?

Got my xfire 7970s up and running on invasion..... My primary card can't seem to break 450hash.... Second card wobbles between 550 and 650....

Any suggestions for improving my hash?

How much RAM are you running? Also which miner and pool are you using?

32gb.... Cgminer and invasion

What's your batch file? I'm running:

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://invasionnetwork.com:3333 -u Codyak.XXXX -p XXXX --shaders 1792 --thread-concurrency 24768 -w 256 -I 20 --lookup-gap 2 -g 1

And than I have my cards set to 1200/1400 (They are 7950's at 600kH/s each)

With 7970's you should be able to do more.

Disable Crossfire otherwise you might be running out of vRAM. When running in crossfire, all the cards use a single cards vram whereas when disabled they all use their own. Also, ive noticed that 7970s are incredibly finicky and require a .5757 gpu clock/memory clock speed. If your running stock memory speed of 1425, your gpu clock should be 820. Though ill admit, I don't have 7970s so these are all just suggestions ive seen that work for others but I don't have personal experience with.

Edit: If you just got those cards for mining, id highly recommend sending them back and grabbing 7950s...best price/performance with mining.

let me help you out hear i jsut set up a gaming/ mining rig of 3 7970s... ok frist the cards make no sense depending on clock speeds = what thread-concurrency works best and by best i mean 150-200mh more at stock which is 1050/1325 my cards get any where form 400-660kh depending on settings i have found that at stock 20800 gives em about 650kh yet is i start overcloking my core the speed drops like a rock by the time im at 1150 its down to 550kh but if i try other thread-concurrency, some of the stuff that was slow as hell at stock is now the fasted at over 670ish kh. this has been driving me nuts the last 2 days as on some thread size faster ram lowers the klh/s and on other thread size it raises a hell of a lot and its the same way on the core.

to me it fells like the miner is not using the card all the way or some thing

btw what are you guys getting out of 7950s?

Heres a tip. If you download msi afterburner and look at the cpu utilization with the miner running, it should be almost a straight line, not bouncing all over the place from like 90-100%.

here are the settings i use on my gigabyte 7970s GHZ edition (1100 core 1500 mem defaults)

cgminer --scrypt -o http://invasionnetwork.com:3333 -u warhawk.1 -p xxxx --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -g 2 -w 256

now, running that at STOCK clocks gets like 500 something khash. i UNDERCLOCK to 1022 core and 1244 mem and BOOM its at 712 rock solid.

you know youre in the sweet spot when the GPU core utilization is a straight line, like i said above. at my stock clocks it was bouncin around.

Ive got x7 7950s, 3 XFX Double Ds and 4 Sapphire reference designs, all of them run right at 550kh each at stock speeds. I DID ramp them up to 650 with an OC but I am not running them that way until I can get some space between them...they start to run muy caliente.

yea mine keep going form like 90-99% just tried at your settings and im getting 450kh, if i go balls to the wall and clock as high as i can i can get about 575 whit your settings.
what drivers are you using?

13.1

what sucks about ltc is like every card is different.

i scoured the forums at bitcointalk.org for someone who had my same card and just used their info and poof

Si si, demasiado caliente. :D

sup d00ds, now that invasion is running rock solid I'll probably be staying here for awhile... FC IAG pool ruined me over last night, no idea what is going on with them... sticking to LTC for now might try to move my FC into btc-e and get rid of them before they plummet, lol

Huh. nvidia 570gtx and 660GTX are pretty slow at this.

Also, I have a ati x1800GTO lying around in my parts box. You think I can throw it in my ubuntu system with the 570gtx and run both of them for the laughs?

Ya, I just pointed my systems back at InvasionNetwork...I think the FTC gold rush is pretty much over, I was getting around 34 dollars a day...completely missing the estimates that the calculators throw out for some reason....doing 100 coins a day...not the 200+ estimates...

Nvidia's cards are very poor miners...I think that 1800 might suck up more money in juice then it can mine but throw it in, see what its hashrate is, and check a calculator...would be some wild shit if those ancient cards performed incredibly...doubt that would happen though.

we need to get over this bad luck run at invasion.....cant wait for this difficulty drop, will be so awesome for LTC

^ It will be nice if it happens but what makes you think that all the people who temporarily left for FC won't just come back (to mining LTC) after FC dumps on BTC-E?

So, learning more about this... on INpool it has been 4,000,000 shares since the pool found a block... now, does that mean we get paid less/share when we finally find one, or do you 'float' us extra LTC as pool operator knowing that it makes up for itself later on? I've only done brief PPLNS reading so don't quite understand it yet. If it was already covered in this thread, sorry...

No its not like a pay per share type system. If you mined there since the start of the round the estimate should be pretty close, but if it was on off on off throughout the round it might be off.

the best explanation of PPLNS that i've ever come across is here:

https://give-me-ltc.com/faq (just dont join :D)

I havent had time to write up my own page yet.

Ah, yeah, that is what I read in the past, I have an account there already before I moved to INpool. Anyways, I re-read it all and it makes more sense now. durhh

So, I am pretty impressed now... Here are my stale rates on my running rigs on INpool:

0.045% (2/4390)
0.110% (9/8149)
0.274% (24/8730)
0.332% (29/8700)

0.197% (111/56360)
0.181% (103/56700)
0.227% (14/6146)
0.213% (117/54708)

On GMLTC I was always around 0.8-1.5%, for comparison.

*edit: For clarity, this is running stratum on Invasion Network pool with reaper v13b; I will be switching over to cgminer soon to try to get more hashrate but am hoping the low stale% will stay!

been running on invasion for the past 18 hours or so. It's been going great with very few stales.

the round is lasting a hella long time though. =(

We need you back USMCgrunt! edit: looks like you are back =)

Yup, FTC mining wasn't hitting expectations so I switched back earlier this morning.

Yeah same here.

Connectivity was horrible and hash rate was about 60% of my rate at INvasion.

someone find the dam block... lol

four rounds all over 2 mil....

Ya...mining for featherpool using stratum my hashrate was down around 3.8Mh or so until I switched to long polling and my hashrate came back up to where it was supposed to be. I mean...I made about .8 BTC which is about 90 dollars over two days, which is really good...but the estimates had me at 100 dollars A day.

We just need to get the pool past this block and hopefully the nice %15 dip in LTC difficulty will facilitate a nice 2-4 block find in a 24 hour period...hopefully, lol.

whoever finds a block and ends this damn round will get a few extra ltc sent to them via me! game on!

Won't get my hopes up...I've found one block since I started mining about 3-4 weeks ago...im incredibly unlucky, lol.

shit i think 1 of my 2 day old 7970s is dead came home today to wired shit all over the screen, get block boxes all over the screen, going to try resetting the card and re install driver but if its messed up that is the fastest a card has ever died on me it was my cold card to at under 75c load and 80 on the vrm, but i get black boxes on the windows desktop now yet running 3d games its fine so idk whats going on im thinking one of the ram chips is messed up, the cards where at stock v to just a little OC on the ram to 1500

hope i get lucky.. I have almost a 2% chance...

ooOOoo.. Just noticed I made it to #15 on top hashrates... Too bad I'm still only at about 1,000kh/s

does the more hashes you do mean the luckier you will be to find a block?

while mining or while not mining? blocky artifacts are common if you are using the same card to display on a monitor that you are mining with... they would go away if you either (1) turn down the intensity/aggression or (2) stop mining on the card...

^^truth.

turn down the intensity on the card you have driving your monitor. At 18 intensity I get tons of artifacts. at 13 intensity very few.

To dumb it WAY down, lets play a game. I have the number 1 million. I want you to tell me what numbers I multiplied to get 1 million. If you pick the right numbers, I will give you a reward. Every hash is a guess...so if your hashrate is 1MH/s, your making a million guesses every second. Working as a team (pool), greatly increases the number of guesses you get to make but you have to share the reward with your team. The system definitely involves a good deal of luck...which InvasionNetwork seems to be running quite low on right now...

Edit: Jzegers....this is getting ridiculous...nearing 6mil shares an no block...are you just trolling us all and keeping the 10 blocks we've found so far??? :D

hah yeah this is just brutal.

on another note, you can now go into my account and select your timezone to make it easier to figure out times and such :D

Awesome...I can do the time conversion but its lot nicer to be able to just look at the time and not have to use any extra brainpower.

Just got a 7790 in. Best I've been able to tweak this thing to so far is 230 kH/s. Underclocking from the default 1050mhz to 800mhz on the core actually boosted me. Memory I left at 1500 as it seemed like raising it or lowering it caused the score to drop. GPU-Z reports a power usage of 40W, which is very very nice at least.

Anyone running one of these with a better hash rate, and if so, what is your configuration?

Edit : I've also figured out a configuration to pass 600 kH/s on reference 7950s. :D

Core clock : 1030-1035
Memory clock : 1550-1575

--thread-concurrency 22580 --intensity 19
I'm getting about ~605 kH/s each now on both reference cards. My VaporX is still doing a little bit better with slightly different clocks (1065/1500) at ~615 kH/s. Those clocks will result in about ~570 kH/s on my reference cards. I'm guessing the difference per model cards are coming from variance in memory brands and timings.
