getting into bitcoining?

Dam BTC is crashing again.. down from $138 today all the way to $110

I wonder if anyone has taken the time to regress BTC prices against say SPY or any major indexes to see if there is a correlation either positive or negative, it'd be interesting once the exchanges get streamlined to be able to day trade the coins like any other currency pair.

if you guys want, feel free to try my LTC pool that i just brought up. Its located smack in the middle of the USA in Omaha, NE and has ultra low stale rates.

http://invasionnetwork.com

How did you get a low stale % for this pool?

my coworker is asking. He's thinking about joining. I just showed him a snapshot of my current stale% with invasionnetwork & one rig left on give-me-ltc and it's 1% lower

All of my servers are on a multi-homed gig pipe in a datacenter in Omaha, NE. The servers are being upgraded to 8 core 48gb memory hosts.

Stales come down to your connection to the server and the infrastructure the server/network run on. In my case, it kicks ass :)

11 LTC in 18 hours with another 5 waiting to be confirmed...that's a hella ton better rate then I was getting at the other pools...of course its also a bit of luck but it does look like from the limited history I can see, we should expect 3-4 block finds a day on average. Also averaging about 265k shares on the fast block finds and 2.27mil shares on the long find ones. Though being as lucky as you guys were starting out has skewed the low end a bit...though I guess you could possibly say that about the last long block taking more than double any of the last long block did to find. Of course, this is all luck but it does have a bit of a pattern to it from the looks of it...small sample size though...

just remember that on the slow days haha. with a smaller hash pool like we have right now it will swing both ways but averages out long term

As soon as Cablesaurus gets off its ass and delivers my PCI extenders to me I should be able to bump my hashrate up to around 6Mh...gotta work on reclaiming my top spot :D

Working on a mining rig case as we speak to consolidate and cleanup my current "Mess". Ill post a pic later tonight when/if I get it finished.

I've been trying to read up on this bitcoining stuff, I was wondering if anybody is willing to get me in their pool and show me the ropes?? I have my old pc that I can put 2x 5870's in to bit coin.. or get LTC..

coinotron.com

That's a pretty good LTC pool, just go register there, configure a worker login then follow their config instructions for your miner

Pretty quick and easy

Specs PLEASE on how you've got your 7850 setup. CPU/mem speeds, etc. I've been running mine, and I thought pretty well, at ~350.

Same Miner as below
Threads - 11000
WorkerSize - 256
Intensity - 19
Both Cards are at 1100/1250

Would you mind sharing your settings and .bat for your 7950s. I can hit about 530/ea on mine at 18 intensity

Both cards are at 1200/800

Anyone know how to set different settings for different GPUs. I got my second 7950 in today, and launching cgminer causes it to run both cards at the same settings. That would be fine if for some reason the second GPU ran at the same speed as the first. But it doesn't - it runs slightly slower (550kH/s instead of 590kH/s). Thanks in advance!

use the cgminer.conf file and set your core/mem clocks there.

Code:
"gpu-engine" : "0-900,0-940",
"gpu-memclock" : "1200,1300",

change the values as you see fit. do some testing.

I've read a lot that cgminer and 7950's like ~0.6 ratio core/mem.
I haven't played with it much yet because reaper stock clocks are getting me 573 kH/s per gpu (15 gpus average)

finally. (4 baskets x 3gpus each) + (2comps*2gpus) = 16x 7950's up and running.

Hopefully Friday night goes smoother adding 4 more.

ack!

whats going on John?!

all of the sudden all MY hashrates on your pool decreased substantially?!

but each comp still says it's mining!

reaper occasionally reports "share thread messed up. Starting another one."
but it's only brief and it says it keeps churning out the hashes. Plus, MSI afterburner still shows 100% load on each gpu.

Rest of the pool seems to be operating fine...maybe switch over to cgminer or something. Or not and ill keep mining and catchup to your shares count :D

Looks like I spoke too soon, my hashrates are slowly dropping...probably need to go down and check on my systems...blah..

shit man.. I can't afford downtime, even if it is 0.5% cheaper. I'm going back to givemeltc until I get cgminer setup.

something's wrong with the pool john...

stales are are increasing and currently at 46%. taking too long to submit shares.

give-me-ltc is working fine right now, so I doubt it's my connection.

So how much are you top bitcoiners earning? Having so many PC's is it worth it and are you actually getting good returns?

I wouldn't call myself a top miner but, im doing about 10 LTC a day..around 37-40 dollars a day depending on the market value of LTC. That comes out to around $1100-$1200 a month minus about 150 for electricity.

Damn, that is pretty epic for side cash. I can definitely go for that... Is there a specific build I should be looking at when building a pc to mine? I know I will be going for AMD cards, but does the processor matter as much? AMD? Intel?

I would go AMD just because they're a lot cheaper but no it doesn't matter. I've got an Intel and AMD dedicated miners and they both work just the same. For the sake of compatibility and reliability make sure you get memory that's on the QVL for the motherboard.

I checked everything out this morning and it looks good. We were working through some new features last night and it might have caused a little hiccup. You sould be fine if you point them back over.

Curious, who's hashrate should I consider my "true" hashrate, what my PC tells me or what the pool's site says? My PC's cumulative total shouldn't be more than about 5200kh but the pool's site is consistently above 5400...not that im complaining :D

BTW Jzegers, I noticed the dip and kinda thought you guys were doing something on the backend because it wasn't more then 10 minutes or so that everything started to recover but the whole pool took a hit for a short bit of time...if you've got a log that looks at cumulative hashrate of the pool you should see it right around the time that J Macker originally reported it.

Oh and...what new features are ya testing :D?

Go with what your PC says. The pool updates every minute and just calculates it based on the number of shares turned in over that period of time, so its not a true number.

Worker down email notification, should be out today i hope :)

Hey guys,

Quick trouble shooting problem.

I tried a new setting in the .bat file. It didn't work and locked my comp. I restarted and now every time I try to run cgminer my computer locks.

I ran heaven and it runs fine.
I re-installed cgminer and made a fresh bat file. Still the same problems.

Seem like doing a fresh install of drivers + sdk fixed it. Running fine now.

ok maybe the problem is still here. Someone care to check out my info and let me know what they think?

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://invasionnetwork.com:3333 -u XXXX -p XXXX --shaders 1792 --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2

edit, seems like the problem only occurs with invasion. give-me-ltc is working.

Yeah, my proxy was fine yesterday. But now today it keeps disconnecting, then re-connecting and re-subscribing.

I've restarted the proxy a couple times already. Maybe he's updating something?

EDIT: Seems to be back on track now.

Anyone can give me some tips on dealing with turning LTC into cash?

Tried to use btc-e but couldn't get it to go through with only $13 as the only withdrawal service that accepted under 50 doesnt work in the US.

Live in the US. Would like to go from ltc --> USD

I dont mind using one of the higher $$ req services. Just would like to know which one are the good ones.
