Forza 3... Who's Getting It?

People don't like change at the best of times. People especially don't like change that they feel goes in the wrong direction for them.

Specifically in this case I'd say that's everyone that isn't casual, but isn't hardcore enough to be part of a Forza racing forum / group / whatever. Which is probably quite a few people.

Speaking of which, I thought you were going to join in with my group for Wednesday night Forza racing?

I've been working the best part of 18 hours a day for the last few months and it doesn't look like changing any time soon. I think I've managed to get to something like level 15 in Forza and remember that I got it something like a month before release.

:(

what demo is that? im hoping your not referring to gt5p with is 50+ cars and like 5-10tracks with full online mode for half the price of a full game?

not bad for £20 hehe but i would like to know what demo cost money.:D

umm how long was GTA4 in the making? guess how long. around 4/5 years :D

GT5p is indeed a paid demo. The online is bjorked, and the career is about 2 hours long (compared to FM3, which can take 100+ hours just for career.

Half the price? $40 is not half of $60. Your exaggeration is noted....I would say it's closer to full price.

I'm not sure about all the MP complaints because I have yet to be able to join a game.

No matter which option I pick, it goes to the joining lobby screen and the icon just keeps spinning. I've let it sit for 2-3 mins which should be more than enough time to find a game right?

not in the uk. it was around £20 when it was first released.

Not getting any Xbox 360 based driving games until there's a good steering wheel for that platform.

Alright...

Been pretty much console-less since going PC around the time of PS2 release. But w/ this wal-mart deal and my lazy ass, I just couldn't take it anymore. So as I sit and stare at my $65 unopened Forza 3 on the desk, I truly, TRULY hope these new additions to the multiplayer mode come soon.

$65 for a game...wow...sure makes me miss those $29.99 PC titles. :(

That's a pretty cool update. Encouraging that they're not just letting the issue stay unanswered.

yo can usually get new releases for ~50 at amazon (like $56 + 5 Gift card or stuff like that), even $45

Thank you, I see it both on newegg and Amazon for $52 w/ free shipping and no tax. I'm taking mine back to wally world here in a bit.

So is yours... comparing a paid demo to a full game... lol, you're funny :D

I know what you're going to say next so save yourself a little time.

uh...to save how much? $13 tops? you'll burn that out of the gas tank easily between driving back and forth to return it

there's no money saved in your situation, and thats assuming your time is worthless to boot

the A Class "Pro" hopper was up last night when i was on, LOL, they label it pro and the damage is set to cosmetic and assists were on or something along those lines.....not what i would consider "pro" unless there is going to be an A Class "Extreme" and A Class "Hardcore"

$13 is a lot for me right now. Walmart is less than a mile from me, so its $1. And I hve nothing but time on my hands.

Lame. How can u even tell waht assists are on in the various hoppers?

I was gifted an Audi R8 and Mazda RX-8 from Turn 10. Did everyone get them or is it some VIP thing?

So, I've been playing this for a couple days now and all I can say is UGH! So here's the deal... Coming from Gran Turismo almost every single car feels numb. They all kinda drive the same way and thus far I've needed the breaking lines on since I can't clip an apex for the life of me.

Is anyone else experiencing a "learning curve" coming from GT 1-5p? It's frustrating the hell out of me right now.

Oh, and while rewind is nice (very nice actually due to my frustration), I was talking to my gf and she pointed out something. On the online leaderboards for fastest lap times (at least for the demo) people had some pretty spanking lap times. I was in the top 1% for all car classes, but people were still 2-3 seconds ahead of me. She pointed out that because of rewind, everyone just nails each corner perfectly. If they bite the dust on a corner, hit rewind, and try again. This realization completely depressed me. Real life doesn't have a rewind button.

I'm also bummed there's no C63 AMG.

acctually, if you use the rewind feature, your lap cannot get certified.

try braking earlier and accelerating out of the corners, that's what works for me :)

Are you using assists? Because the cars are far from numb when everything is off. As far as feeling grip levels through the controller / wheel I can't say I've played a better game, on any platform (including PC / PS3).

On a different note, C class and RWD Drift multiplayer hoppers are going up today.

...and yeah, as noted by sparky1, if you use rewind your laps are uncertified (and appear at the bottom of the leaderboards, under all the certified laps). They're that much faster because they're batshit mental good. :D

Didn't know that it doesn't get certified. Then damn, some of those guys on the demo were FAST! And as far as braking earlier, yeah seriously. I know Laguna Seca like the back of my hand in GT, but I need to brake waaay earlier going into most of the corners. I guess that was the "learning curve" I was talking about.

The only assist I have on is ABS, automatic transmission, and sometimes braking line. I can't turn ABS off because the degrees of braking on the controller are crap. If and when I get a wheel, then maybe I'll turn it back on. I must say though, the rumbling is spot on. Going over rumble strips, dirt, grass, all feel different, which is very nice. GT never really did that. Maybe I'm just really used to GT, but I feel grip was easier to "sense" in GT. Who knows, maybe Forza will grow on me...

... I mean, it better grow on me, now that I have a 360 'n' all

do yourself a favor, force yourself to not use any assists, no ABS even, you will get used to it quickly if you force yourself and you will have a much more enjoyable and competitive experience to boot, i did this with Forza2 and never looked back, i tried them all once to see what a difference it made and it was night and day, you can be so much quicker without them and you will be better off if you start now instead of trying to go without later and have to relearn all over again

Physics accuracy aside, I always found the Gran Turismo series to convey more feel than you get with Forza. You are also far from being the only person who thinks that Forza feels a bit vague.

Maybe I'll turn off ABS, but even when I played GT, I kept ABS and TCS on. Now that I play Forza, it handles TCS completely differently (at least it feels completely different) and you can feel your car is actually slower with it on. Braking with ABS off though is completely haphazard with the controller. As I've mentioned before, driving using the triggers isn't nearly as sensitive as the PS2/PS3 controller buttons (or I'm just not used to it yet).

Moreover, I can't even fathom driving a stickshift with clutch on a controller. Anyone who does this has my respect, and if they can, post a video of this on youtube. I just wanna see this.

If anyone feels that Forza is vague or lacks feel, they are definitely in the minority however.

That's nice to know others have felt what I'm feeling. I feel that, in general, a minority of people made the switch from GT to Forza in the first place, but for me it was an inevitable switch.

Every assist in Forza dumbs down the car and makes your laptime slower. It's always been that way.

Basically it's so people can't throw everything on and beat you around when you're actively trying to play properly. If you want to go faster... you need to start turning stuff off and getting used to handling the cars properly.

So I'm starting to learn. I decided to take nobody_here's advice and turn off ABS today, and by golly me, after slamming into the walls a couple times and re-learning the breaking points, my laptimes have actually gotten faster.

C & D class hoppers are now live. You can all play your slowmobiles in public matches.

Edit - Ok... maybe not slowmobiles, but it's nice to have some slightly less insane cars available for online. :)

I think the E36 M3 is C class, I've been enjoying it so far in my early races.

good to hear ;) i personally have developed a tendency after time of not using ABS to actually not pull on the brake trigger enough, pulling on it ever so slightly, no wheel lockup but i tend to overshoot corners at times, so what i did was jack the brake pressure up a bit to 105%-110% and set the brake bias to 5%-10% towards the rear, now i get more braking from less input and if i do occasionally pull it too fast it drags the rear first so i still have control on the turning wheels and can correct much easier and faster

it works, enjoy, hit me up some time on XBL and lets race, gamertag Misenthrope
