Its not giving me a ton of WU's.... won't be able to bunker since i only have a handful of gpu work units so far

Current run times with kernel = 23:

1070 ~ 13m
1070 Ti ~ 10m
1080 ~ 9m

Note that nearly all my GPUs are on PCIe 2.0 x1 due to risers.

Edit: Getting 100% utilization from a single 10_20 WU too. 2_64 doesn't seem available any longer.

PCIe x1 bandwidth is definitely killing me here. Run-time for a 1070 ti is ~11 minutes, 1070 is ~13 minutes. I am seeing other folks doing ~8min for a WU.

Edit 2: Noticed that some folks with GTX 107x/108x cards are doing kernel size 23. Testing that out now...

Edit 3: Definite speed-up going from kernel size 21 to 23. Looking to be about a minute on either card type.

Edit 4: Just realized that the latest NVidia driver i put up on 1070Ti2 is 397.13. That's a good bit ahead of all the releases. Keeping an eye on rig performance versus the other ones...

Does anyone happen to know if there is any gain in adjusting the GPU settings here? And what settings should be applied to various cards?

Gilthanis I see a definite improvement on the 1070 / 1070 Ti / 1080 WU times with kernel = 23. All models got a good 2+ minutes knocked off total run time.

MN Scout Is that good...? i sense that is bad. How do we prevent that?

Your runtimes also correlate to phoenicis 1080 Ti run times, so that is excellent.

Thanks I am going to try this. Based on the completion time you posted as 13 and 8 i firmly believe the PCIE X 1 is not hurting you at all as that is the same numbers i am getting.
Looks like i will be able to clear 3 million+ PPD on this project :D I am sure you are going to kill it atp1916 (y)

Giving less "time slices" to the OS to draw the screen is only an issue if you are using the computer. With a sufficiently fast CPU/GPU maybe the user wouldn't even notice it.

On my setup right now I see some typing and UI lag. I'm running a kernel of 22, and have both GPUs loaded and running PrimeGrid on my 6cpus. I'm not really doing much on the computer today, so I'm not concerned. If I was on here all day I'd want to try a lower kernel time to see I could get some more responsiveness back.

I already have 500,000 points in this project. Started this morning. 49 tasks valid. 89 tasks pending!

kernel = 23 a good idea on AMD GPUs?

EDIT, read into it a bit more, set to 21, should help keep the Fury more well fed, but not cause the R7 260x in the HTPC to have a stroke lol

So I can still use the computer for some work I have the main CPU restricted to 20 cores. It looks like it wants one CPU core when running a GPU work unit. Right now it looks like about 40 minutes for a work unit on 19 CPU cores and just slightly faster at about 38 minutes for a work unit on a single K4000 GPU.
 
Oh wow that's not quick at all.

Try other GPU projects. See what it can do.

Were dominating this Spring so I think we'll be okay if we lose it. :LOL:
 
Yeah - not too exciting..... Not thinking its going to be worth the extra power and heat having two of these in this workstation for the speed they are producing.
 
Teslas are typically better utilized at projects that need Double Precision. For example: Milkyway@home or the GFN work units at PrimeGrid.
 
For me the main reason for Tesla would be that the driver support virtualization with ESXi ... but don't want to send the money needed for NV not allowing GForce doing the same. Too bad.

Have found 25K+ pairs... but no idea what's "cool" or otherwise noteworthy. I normally don't like running mathematics related project; but at least with PrimeGrid you get a proper feeling of "accomplishment". Ya know?

I mean its not alot different than having your name associated with a prime. Apparently these "amicable pairs" were considered by the Pythagoreans to have "mystical properties"
If its good enough for the Pythagoreans its good enough for me and now some of these will be forever documented with my handle. :cool:


FYI i hear the number of available pairs is much less later in this project. those that got in early got hundreds or thousands but good luck getting one of those badges if you are starting out now like myself

Moved all my systems to Amicable. I should be moving to a 4p system here in the coming weeks for future sprints.
 
If you hurry up with that 4P you could be a huge help to us in the Pentathlon that starts on may 5th.
 
I got all 6 CPUs boxed up. Monday on my lunch break ill stop by USPS and send them off.
 
EVGA is catching up to XS. Wonder if they'll take 2nd by the end or if XS can hold on to it.
