Formula-BOINC 2018

I guess this is some kind of research into a type of building foundation technique known as grillage? Strange... Not sure this would be something i would put my resources into outside of a formula challenge.. guess thats one of the reasons this type of series exists.

Update: as Gilthanis pointed out that is depending on the age of the BOINC manager used; mine is 7.6.33 on macOS. So you might not have the same issue at all.

Yeah, what's up with that? No clue how to make the change without screwing things up so just ignoring it for now.
 
Just ignore it. This happens at various projects and it is because of projects beginning to support https but keeping the old http around for legacy clients that cannot support the newer security focused updates. Some projects you update the address and it will bitch about using the new one because there are essentially two used and the BOINC client/server isn't smart enough to know the situation.
 
I get "202 (0xca) EXIT_ABORTED_BY_PROJECT" already three time

That project is blocked here at work, but if it is server aborted, they may have a post about the need for cancelling them.

This normal? CPU is still loaded, not paused or anything... Update, it just jumped from .5% to 1% on all cores, remaining time dropped to 14h still climbing high tho

Give it some time to settle out and give a more accurate projection or wait to see how long it takes to complete like 10% and do the math. For a comparison point my FX 8320 is taking 26 hours per task, my FX 8100 is taking something like 30 and my ryzen 1700 is around 8.5 hours

Just never seen a project jump in .5% increments before, threw me off lol
 
My 3930k takes about 24 hours with HT turned on. I've seen others mention better results with HT turned off.
 
I had a few project settings misconfigured and apparently pulled CPU work from another project. Getting most of those cleared out and should have a couple more cores helping out within a few hours.
 
Guess I should pay more attention to the F1 schedule and/or posts here so I'm not caught unawares again. :oops:

Oh, great. That would be a *massive* pain in the ass with all these boxes. Think we'll just have to take it as it comes this time. :(
 
G34 chips are definitely not impressive at this project...
 
Due to my satellite internet out here in the countryside and my 15GB/month data cap, my BOINC clients only connect during my free data period from 3am to 6am. I should have a few points show up tonight. Fingers crossed.

So I did just disable HT on two of my biggest 4P systems; who knows if it was worth the trouble though. :p

Man, I don't miss those days. Had WildBlue way back when. Think the caps were more generous than that though! Was terrible for any latency dependent, or uploading in general; but downloads weren't that bad at all. (certainly better than dial-up!) Was eventually able to switch to a local WISP and online life was good once more.
 
After a full day of crunching my G34 2P only has the work units completed to 25%

Really? My 2P G34 with 2, 6180 CPUs does the tasks in 15 hours. That is not bad since it is doing 24 at a time, As good as my I7-3930K can do or better. I mean as far as tasks in a day goes.

Congrats on taking first. I moved all mine back over to the PG challenge since it looks like 3rd place is locked up and not much we can do about it now.

Mine are 6274 which I believe were from the Bulldozer line. Yours are Magny's and actually IMO are better for most projects. I have honestly heavily debated switching back to my magny core chips and taking the reduction from 32 to 24 cores.

And in case it matters when compared to yours...mine are stock clocks.
Looking at others with 6274's it looks like 2 days runtime is normal but not sure if they OC'd theirs. And my RAM is budget RAM from scrapping computers so not the fastest on the market.

I am at stock clocks. Just using Samsung DDR3 EEC-R 1333 from ebay on the 2P boards I had a recycler offer 2 CPU and the board for like 95$.
Remember I had told everyone about them, I know some from [H] bought a few, but I do not think anyone figured out how to OC them.
I think with the 62xx AMD you have to run them at 50%, maybe 75% of CPUs for them to run faster.
Something about the number of cores and the FMUs or some damn thing the way they are connected. Kinda almost like they have HT cores counted as real cores.
