I got in late on the yoyo one but I was there.

Tomorrow I can throw up another 8 to 16 cores to it.

Funny part is I posted I had $800 in google cloud credit. I was wrong. After last projects and few free extras I am at $2800. So those cloud servers will be going for awhile no funding needed.

Milkyway@Home uses the BOINC platform to harness volunteered computing resources, creating a highly accurate three dimensional model of the Milky Way galaxy using data gathered by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. This project enables research in both astroinformatics and computer science.

In computer science, the project is investigating different optimization methods which are resilient to the fault-prone, heterogeneous and asynchronous nature of Internet computing; such as evolutionary and genetic algorithms, as well as asynchronous newton methods. While in astroinformatics, Milkyway@Home is generating highly accurate three dimensional models of the Sagittarius stream, which provides knowledge about how the Milky Way galaxy was formed and how tidal tails are created when galaxies merge.

Milkyway@Home is a joint effort between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's departments of Computer Science and Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy. Feel free to contact us via our forums, or email astro[at]cs.lists.rpi[dot]edu.

The going is rough so far. 2nd hourly update is in, and we are in 2nd. XtremeSystems is being extreme.

I just have the right cards for MW. Nothing crazy on my end. Now stoneageman on XS, I'd definitely like to know what those rigs look like. Maybe the XS crew can chime in on that...
 
Sadly, my Nvidia 1070/1070 Ti /1080s are all very bad at FP64 - i just happen to have quite a few of them!

McCHillin if you were able to get a couple 280xs off ebay (like 100 bucks), you'd have some serious firepower in MW.

A single 280x is worth ~4/5 1070/1070 Ti in MW.
 
I stopped running my 1080 after a day and switched to collatz. Not worth wasting the electricity. I'm getting a third of the output from the 7970. 280x or 7970 should perform about the same.

We lost count on his machines lol. I just know one thing, he can easily triple my output on any project, GPU or CPU. Only thing can slow him down is the heat :)

The 1070ti ain't bad, the 1070 sux balls though .. on this project of course. I wonder what your output gonna looks like on Collatz

The only thing stopping me on these GPU projects is PCIe lane bandwidth requirements. Pretty sure there is at least 1 project that exceeds PCIe 3.0 x1 bandwidth, but in general most don't.

Need to check up on Collatz though. Last time i ran it i had gimpy Celerons behind these things.

Edit: HWMon is reporting ~50% util on the 3.0 x1 lane. We're in business. :sneaky::couchpotato:

I've tested RX 570 x 4 on the celeron and they ran fine on Collatz .. so with your 7700k should have enough juice for 8 cards
 
I need a better Mobo for my 7700 and another 2011-3 CPU.
Then I'll be in business
I'm thinking about buying a used mining rig set up, and parting it out for use as soon as I have a few checks roll in from Dell :)
