Their entire site is down right now....

And its back up. Tasks are uploading at 0.27 KBps. lol

and its back down again..... couple of dozen tasks trying to upload and ready to report on this box and the others are in the same scenario.

Someone was able to get through, said they are focusing the servers on validation right now, and giving upload/download the remaining scraps of CPU cycles.

Yeah we suck at bunkering. We ran out, but before we did we built up a huge backlog of tasks waiting validation and not just waiting on a wingman, but waiting on the validator to process it like everyone else.

I don't normally spend this kind of money on hardware, but I haven't really spent any money on my BOINC farm in 3-4 years and it was in need of an upgrade/modernization in order to remain competitive and to hit goals I have set for myself. I am also getting ready for some inevitable failures of some of my older Haswell boxes that have been crunching 24x7 for 4+ years. They won't last forever. Additionally, TR prices are very low now (~$700). From a price : performance ratio perspective, there is no bigger bang for your CPU buck than TR right now. Finally, I received a nice bonus from work this year and decided that due to the reasons I listed, it was time to spend it on some new hardware.

We at XS will still try to get your attention every once in a while...

Have we got your attention yet? Hello? Anybody home? Bueller?

;)

Not really bragging, just poking the bear a little. All in good fun! Certainly no disrespect intended. (Hell, I haven't even participated much in FB, but I've been following along on the forums)

Anyways, I'm sure you guys will respond appropriately (and in the only way that matters) - with POINTS!

Cheers!

:D

Just ordered a third identical TR rig to add to the [H] farm. I may have an addiction.

I'm going to build a TR rig next year when 7nm chips are available. I'd love 32c/64t low voltage and heat.

Supposed to be another eBay 15% off coupon dropping tomorrow. Upgrade time?

Ya'll remember Enigma and Amicable Numbers right?

Who from TSBT is crunching for XS? And who is BO? If that refers to people with "BlackOps" behind their names then that has nothing to do with the team BlackOps who was Ste\/e. He only has a few machines now and gave away 12 each I7-3770s w/ GPUs a month ago. The team BO has never put a credit on XS so you can remove that one from your list. You are probably confusing some SUSA members that have [BlackOps] after their project names as being members of the BO team. As I recall, the only time SUSA and 1 member from TSBT has helped XS was right after the Pentathlon and that was only to burn off some cached WU. XS didn't discover FB until 4 months into the year so we gave them a slight boost and only on a few projects. BTW, those cached WU were on the same projects you had run on the Pentathlon so it caused you no harm.

Ah, makes sense then. Still they're getting help from at least one other team. Don't get me wrong as I am quite flattered it's taking at least two teams to beat us. Good job by the way. (y)

Personally, I'm a member of 3 different teams and at different times I support them all. I saw on one of the team's forums, that I support, where you were complaining about having to battle multiple teams. You do get around with that message. :) The bottom line is I buy the parts, I build the computers, and I personally pay the utility bill. I therefore will run what I want, when I want, and where I want.

My message isn't false though. It's the truth.

What XS has accomplished has been XS doing the work and not what you keep saying that it is many teams ganging up on [H].

Contradictory sentence there since you above even stated yourself that at least SUSA has helped XS with a "few" projects and basically all the Sprints since they started paying attention to FB.

Therefore, no. XS isn't doing this alone by any means.

You also have quite the army of systems as well.

Skillz, I've watched your posts for quite a while and you honestly seem like a really nice guy. This isn't intended to jump you, just clarify a misconception :) If you believe the situation is otherwise then so be it ;)

Spectre ... aka Nightmare ... aka Bryan ... aka Bowmore

I am not taking offense to any of this for the record. In fact, I am flattered.
I like to keep things interesting.

BRYAN, and so we meet!

Keep crunching!

...mentioned you were running some cloud machines. Is that correct? If so, how did that work out?
I have no idea ... cloud ? I’m sitting in my office on 35th floor and watching clouds. If that is what you mean ...

else it’s all about the balance of gain in credits vs the drain from your credit card and to try to find your individual balance not getting you in trouble. Technically works well. Just don’t know how ...

You're opinion and mine about cloud computing is similar. I was thinking I had seen some posts from you way back when that you were doing it. Oh well, I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be!
Oh, your memory still works well :lock:

Hi auntjemima, a pleasure to meet you.

I'll explain the BlackOps thing so there is no misconception. Back in the olden days of SUSA we competed in a lot of challenges - before they were named Compete Against GC or the same projects month after month after month from Cruncher San Frontiers. SUSA had folks that liked to run challenges, some were purely after credits, and there were those that chased badges and the Mega Milestones (now called Most Milestones) on FreeDC. The ones that were really into the badge hunting started adding [MM] to their project names. For example, if you look at the 1M category on the FreeDC stats the top dog is zombie67 [MM] .

We had another group that liked to do their own thing but if SUSA was in trouble on a challenge and the call went out they would immediately drop any personal pursuits and come help the team. Those folks added [BlackOps] after their project names. So when you see that you know it is a SUSA old timer.

I'll get off your forum now, I've taken up too much of your time.

Crunch On!

MY forum? Hardly. Anyone and everyone is welcome!

That's incorrect Skillz. I have helped XS on some of the Sprints and I will do so occasionally in the future. I don't remember anyone else from SUSA helping with a Sprint - however I won't say my memory is perfect. The projects that SUSA helped on were as I stated, burning off cached WU right after the Pentathlon. Once those were gone folks returned home. That help was months ago ... ie right after the Pentathlon ended.

I guess we can agree to disagree :D You guys are having fun with this and you know it! Beats the hell out of coasting along and getting bored.

A "Team Building" exercise at its finest :)

You dropped 10+ million points on CSG for them recently. Also Mumps from SUSA contributed a few million points in WEP until they got first place there, too. Just to name a couple that I can remember.

Look, it's cool. Science is getting done no matter what, but don't try to downplay it. We know.

edit
I take that back. You're still contributing CSG points for them and it's not a Sprint. ;)
Also Moo! Wrapper and Gerasim.

You can try to cover what you said all you want, but you're all over the place. First you only help with Sprints, now you've always been a member of XS and you're helping them with some Marathons... but the fact is, you're a SUSA member and other SUSA members have helped XS get to where they are now in both Sprints and in Marathons.

I've missed nothing. You're just trying to create a smoke screen, but it's not working.

Like I said before. XS needed help from other teams to get to where they are. I'm flattered still, by the way.

Glad to see XSUSA members posting here. You've helped spice up what could have been a dull FB year.

There's no sour grapes here guys. The only time I've been bothered by a tactic is when teams behind us were boosted. Why bothered? Because we didn't do it first :D Marquis of Queensbury rules be damned.

Win or lose, great fun ……. but it almost goes without saying, you're going down!
