Fallout 4

I've experienced next to zero issues with the game (39 hours in) up until I started it up just now and my character's face looked like this....the face I made is clean shaven and scarred...and definitely not blackface, lol.

tKJ2tHg.png

I say next to zero...there's a few in game bugs with textures and physics but nothing game breaking. Now I have noticed that if I leave the game running and go off and do something for 5-10 minutes, when I come back, it appears my computer has rebooted. It looks like the game has an issue with the signal being shut off to the monitor. I have sleep and hibernate disabled with monitor shutoff time set to 10 minutes. I've come back once after the screen shutoff to an error saying I've run out of memory. When I look at memory usage I've got GBs free (16GB in system) and my HDD has 10s of GBs free so there must be something going on....memory leak or improper reporting of system resources or something. Of course, I'm on Windows 10 as well so there's no telling which one the culprit is.

You think with all the crafting that they'd let you eventually learn to make your own ammo?

Doesn't it seem just strange that they let you freaking craft entire settlements and go crazy with high end science mods that are faaaaaaaaaaaar more technologically advanced then making simple ammo?

I think they should have had crafting normal ammo be something you unlock at a hitgher lv perk but it should definitely had been included, it would certainly help people that woul dprefer to use certain types over others (308/44 type ammo).

Aye and the shops only see a few of the higer ends anmo.... And even at lvl 30 the moobs still ues pipe guns

..but I have a jet pack on my t60

I'm nearly level 40 and the last weapon I upgraded was around level 15-20, all of my weapons do about 20-30 base damage. Can't find an upgrade to save my life.
It takes a full clip to kill a single enemy on Normal difficulty. If I find one more legendary melee weapon I'm going to beat Mama Murphy to death with it. This fucking game.

I'm level 20 and most of my weapons are 100+ dmg -- my auto sniper does 188dmg, for example. You are doing something seriously wrong.

They had a pretty decent ammo crafting system in Fallout: New Vegas. Perhaps Bethseda is saving that feature for a future DLC?

Ammo crafting should definitely be a thing... if and only if it doesn't unbalance the game (make ammo too common.)

i found

Old Faithful at the shop in diamond city legendary laser double damage vs full health (mai new sniper rifle)
i got Righteous Authority from the BoS quest starter double crit damage and 15% faster ap regen
i found the Kneecapper on a legendary goul in the national guard armory... it is a 10mm pistol (my new silenced clearing gun)

my special
is
Str 3
per 6
end 2
Cha 6
Int 6
Luk 3

I need to dump some levels in STR and luck perhaps END Honestly STR should be a dump stat for everyone even those wanting to do a melee don the power armor instant 11 STR so you could have a high secondary stats like endurance or luck.

My sniper has been rolling things mainly 1 shot 1 kill.

I have to agree. I am constantly switching and upgrading my guns so I have the basic same gun build for all types of ammo. Right now I carry 3 sniper rifles for .38, .45 and .308 ammo. If I could break down my .38 and 10mm ammo to make .308, I could get rid of the excess weapons and only exclusively use .308 ammo. It's annoying cause I use a suppressed .38 sniper rifle, but damage wise it sucks but I have a ton of ammo for it so it's my default weapon. And I want to move to a .50 cal sniper but I haven't built it yet because I haven't found a seller of it, and I have found like 15-20 rounds of it. :(

Finally trying to craft a settlement, is there some kind of "snap" to grid or any other thing that I'm missing?

It seems like it'd be a toooooooon easier if you could have a grid to use so you can align buildings and get things striaght, all my stuff ends up crooked cause I can't see shit lol.

well craft able ammo is a simple mod, so simple i can't believe it wasn't there from the start.

It will be the first mod i make when the construction kit comes out.

It literally should not be any harder to make than my craftable clothes as armor, mod for skyrim which i basically just went through and duplicated all the clothes as extra sets and gave them the same armor rating as elven, gated it so you needed the elven perk to craft them at the tanning rack and also you needed field cotten to make linen and you used the linen combined with dragon mats to craft them to keep it from being too easy to get at the start.

Same thing should be able to be done in fallout, really easy.

It just comes down to balancing how many and of what mats are needed and how many bullets those mats give you to keep the ammo from being unlimited, but also plentiful enough you can go around with full auto weapons and not be out of ammo after 2 clips.

I also personally want to change the ammo around a bit as well, i feel there is not enough distinction between ammo types really other than the amount of damage that they do.

I mean some guns have AP reciever but they all seem to be fully automatic? Why are there no rifle type recievers that offer AP?

And it appears that Receivers are their choice of deciding if a round has AP potential or not, rather than say having FMJ or hollow point rounds, they tie the capability to the mod on the recievers slot and not the ammo. When it should be more about having multiple types of ammo.

Not sure how hard it is to add additional ammo types that a weapon can use as well as assign a key to be able to swap between ammo types or if all that stuff will be confined to the receiver system.

Id like to see common HP/AP round, and more rare ammo types like exploding ammo, or super penetrating depleted uranium rounds that is rarer, causes some radiation damage but does less damage than normal AP rounds would to an unarmored target but has greater AP potential than normal AP rounds, something you would want to use to punch through Power Armor.

All of them should be craftable, normal HP rounds with Gun Nut 2 Rank, AP rounds would need Gun Nut 3, more exotic types would need other perks as well, so to create exploding rounds you might need Gun Nut 4 and rank 2 of Demolition Expert, and if you wanted to make the Depleted Uranium rounds you would need Gun Nut 4 + Science 2.

Something like that.

Build the floor first, the walls will snap to floor sections.

FFS, the "molecular transmitter" quest is as wrong, as ham in a synagogue. Whichever way I try to place the elements to get them powered and stay in one circuit, I can't power that little platform... tried every guide or tips from forums, I just can't get it done. Sheesh.

Anybody know how many vaults are discoverable? I've found 75 and 114 so far. I like discovering what happened inside them....though I find them to be very Nazi-esque. Seems contradictory given that the timeline divergence from 'our reality' is just after WWII so the world should be aware of all the things the Nazis did. What happened at Vault 75 seems pretty terrible, though it explains part of the FO world...not so much how that certain faction became so widespread though, they appear in pretty much every FO game don't they? I'm trying to be vague so as not to give it away to those that haven't gotten that far. I think Vault 114 is pretty funny though, I like the role reversal though I wasn't satisfied with what I discovered, never found out what the demise of that vault was.

"Decent"...hah...I thought it was one of the worst executed mechanics of that type I've ever seen. Having dozens of micro-items like shell casings, powder, etc. was just annoying. And when you craft you get one fucking bullet each time? WTF.

Don't even get me started on the utterly useless "Junk Rounds" perk.

I would love to see ammo crafting in this game but NOT like they did it in New Vegas.

What's also annoying is that when you try to place fences and stuff (I tried fixing up the white fences at Sanctuary) if the terrain dips down everything will be hovering off the ground.

It's a cool idea but not fully implemented and polished.

(probably should've replied to taintedsquirrel, but might apply to you too)
You're END is very low, I would definitely beef that up as that controls your health bar, iirc. And get the health, toughness and whatever weapon you use perks. I did that, and by level 17/18 the only things that gave me trouble were death claws and sentry bots.

If you start the wall at the lowest point, usually you can snap walls under ground so they snap to the lower walls.

So you can avoid that hovering issue for the most part its still not perfect tho.

final got a real good piece of armor from a legendary radroach.

It is like a permanent stealth boy as long as you aren't moving. You can sort of exploit it by moving in little steps.

Made getting through Fallon's department store and the car park next to it pretty easy with a sniper or laser rifle.

Just 2 possible real-life US references that Bethseda might've used as inspiration for Vault 75 (so yes, under certain conditions, what happened in Nazi Germany could conceivably happen here in the US):

Milgram Experiment

Stanford Prison Experiement

Note that in the 2nd experiment, all the volunteers (prisoners and guards) were screened to exclude those with criminal backgrounds, psychological impairments, or medical problems.

i have one of those as well but i had to take it off, since my primary weapons are pistols and sneak attacking, i can't see my holo sight on my .44 or it makes the sights on some other weapons hard to see as well, only viable weapons with it are scoped weapons when in first person, or VATs

The platform is supposed to be attached to that big piece right in the center. I had to remove the rug from the ground to allow me to attach the two together. Took me a while to figure it out.

How is this possible? I can trivially mod anything to 3x that damage.

I also have the camo armor + 4 stars stealth + some camo magazines. stealth works really well for the most part. you can shoot and move away from where you shot to repeat the process. it is when you stay that the warning becomes "danger" which means you are tracked. the super mutants and ghouls are pretty much blind. + traps are no longer an issue. Humans can still track pretty well, but at a distance they can't lock on, but they will send bullets in the general direction.

Did some Glowing Sea exploration today and found an X01 power suit...the transparent HUD is much nicer, imo.

I'm still at a loss with modding weapons and armor though. Always seems I can't mod anything. WOuld love to up damage a few things I have.

To everyone posting screenshots, unless it's specifically graphically related, resize your images in paint or something to a size a little more easily digestible. We don't need a 1440 or even 1080 screen grab of you lopping off a guys face...that can be conveyed at 800x600 just as easily.

Darkass....your name is now, Darkass. lol

cry me a river if you want because i aint resizing shit, this is the pc gaming section not the tablet/mobile/console forum and seriously, 1080p, i was used to bigger resolutions on my sony 19" crt in 2003 lol

does the suit allow you to see better underwater? I have the perk that lets you stay underwater forever but the water is usually SO HARD to see in. I was looking for a locket in the one lake, couldn't see anything.

This actually works - my FPS at 4K went from 30 and microstutter everywhere to 50-60 all the time.

SLI 980's.

Sigh not working for me. Tried reinstalling drivers. still using only 40% of gpu 1 and 70ish% of gpu 2 and giving me worse fps

Do you guys generally always stay in your power suit? I'm only lvl 7, but I feel like you get power armor REALLY early in the game.

I've been avoiding using it to make the game more challenging.

i haven't touched it since the mission that forced you to use it though I'm playing on easy.
