Fallout 4

http://www.techspot.com/review/1089-fallout-4-benchmarks/page6.html

techspot's memory performance results are interesting. based on this my 1333hz DDR3 is holding me back quite a bit. i'm not running a Haswell processor, i'm wondering if these results translate down to Sandy Bridge users.

"We saw minimum frame rates increase by almost 70% when going from DDR3-1333 to DDR3-2400."

That is certainly interesting, though I guess YMMV on individual systems. I'll check my Ivy Bridge and see how I'm doing when I get home.

setting it to alternate frame rendering 2 seems to be work a'ok for me. amazes me that they didn't have a real SLI solution already for such a huge hypedgame.

with alternate frame rendering gpu usage ramp up on both cards but performance doesn't improve that much...
I can't even max it out at 4K, there are performance drop to 35FPS on a GTX980 Ti SLI.

yeah it's really interesting. it may be a moot point for me since outdoor environments are pegged at 60fps, at least in the areas i've explored thus far. i'll need to check indoors where my framerate tanks and pay attention to how low i drop.

I just love that Fallout 3 digital edition also come out for Xbox One through the 360 emulator that just came out yesterday. I preordered Fallout 4 and I have both games for one price. I'm amazed at how well the Xbox One runs the 360 emulator.

The only areas I drop framerates is around the cities. Everywhere else I am locked at 72fps. I know you can lower shadow distance to medium and that fixes the fps with the city areas but also drastically changes the way the game looks for the worse.

its tied to the difficulty. im playing on hard and ive encountered 7 or 8 legendaries in about 9 hours of play. 2 of those i had to leave cause they just whooped my scrawny power armor-less ass

I've got about 10 hours in on hard and haven't seen a single spawn...

Exactly what I wanted to see. Looks like Bethesda listened when I posted my top 5 wishes for Fallout 4.

My attempt at the Glowing Mirelurk... Phew!
I was a tad unprepared, lol

Damn thing keeps following you!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TslOtyDEpsI

The biggest battle I have been in so far was against a Sentry Bot. Happened on this one spot where there is a Sentry Bot in a cage as well as a couple of Protectrons. As soon as I stepped-on the platform the red light started spinning, cage opened-up and he started firing. Even with enhanced T51B power armor he was tearing me a new one.

Must have spent a good 10 minutes playing ring around the railway car. I was running around dropping frag mines and trying to avoid his fire. Started off with 22 frag mines and only had 3 left by the time the bastard finally died. Deathclaws didn't give me a run for the money like he did. I'll be much better equipped the next time I go out.

btw, nice job taking down the Glowing Mirelurk and his/her slimy friends. (y)

So....I am having a real problem with the Arcjet mission...

Did I accidentally go there too early or something?

I'm only level 7 and I am literally getting like two-three hitted with my current gear.

I ended up picking up that mission by way of doing the tenpines mission.

You should let your NPC buddy in that mission tank damage for you.

thought i posted in the right thread earlier, oops.

any one using the pipboy app?

Really impressed with the pipboy app. Having more and more fun with this game and it's my first Fallout game.

i started building sanctuary, its actually not that bad, i cleaned all the junk from the city and the river like tires fallen branches etc, its going well, now i want to build a house for me and dogmeat, lets see how it goes :)

This game runs fine on High settings even on my 6970 2GB at 2560x1600 native res. I am impressed. And the stock textures look good to boot.

I swear to god enemies are fucking grenade snipers.

They have more precision than the dude who the Stone Cold his beers. At my feet every single time. Please just fuck up once.

I'm surprised how aggressive base level enemies like frigging mole rats and roaches are this time around.

I've started a settlement not in sanctuary, Got the walls up, some guard posts and Started work on the Barracks which is far from finished but i ran out of wood tho lol so work is stalled until i collect more.

if you a low level stay away from Lynn's woods..

I watched two death claws, 5 milurks, and 3 big rad scorpions duke it out after the death claws made mince meat of some raiders.

I was able to hide long enough to watch the attack and then warp my ass out of there.

why did they remove the markers on your compass about where people are that aren't active?

I have no idea who is bad and who is good anymore until they start shooting.

You can use VATs to scan targets for hostility at a distance.

You can also use VATs to find land mines before you blindly walk over them.

In My opinion i like using vats to check on target before i engage them, rather than the compass telling me friend or foe, so if i get careless i can run into something on accident and it will spook me.

I considered buying a cheap Android tablet to run the app. What are you running that on? The app doesn't look demanding and runs good on my Nexus 5, but I'm not too familiar with cheap tablets so I'm wondering what I can get away with if I were to buy one.

Aye its lame but I go just and shoot every thing outside of town cuse I think I seen 1 mob not try to kill me out side town.

And man thiers a full blown war going on now I get atcked by helicopters now and the poor bos ones allwats get shot down by npcs

The lvl scaling is getting bad at lvl 30 some mobs take 4 head shots to take down with a 120 damg gun

More realistic that way. I actually prefer it, rather than a compass magically always knowing who's an enemy.

Barely getting time to play FO4 as i'm doing 12's at work for the next week or so. Can't wait to spend a day or so playing.
Did get the power armor but ditched it as i wanted to make the game harder. (On survivalist dificulty)
Also sold all my guns and ammo as i want to try the game as melee only unless i am required to use a gun in a quest. Still want to find a sword to upgrade. I will eventually.
All in all, having a blast with it. :D

Vault 95. Do not go there unless you are armed to the teeth and have plenty of ammo. I got wasted not once but twice trying to get into that vault. They threw three friggin' Assaultrons at me with their friggin' laser beams and they kicked my ass all over the place. Next up: I'm nuking them to hell.

My impression of Melee-only or melee-focused builds is it's making the game harder for yourself to the point of needlessly; especially tough when you're swarmed by a group with guns and you get gangbanged because you can't kill them fast enough. But I'm sure there are ways to make it work with some creativity, like combining with sneak, etc.

Definitely a fan of Survivalist difficulty though. Feels just right, and you get max chance at running into legendary enemies.
