Fallout 4

Encountered another bug. Was in power armor in crouch mode when I accessed a terminal. Once done, I could only look around, unable to move. Loaded a save but this time I got out of the power armor, crouched and accessed the terminal. Same results.

When I stood, whether in power armor or not, I was able to exit without experiencing the bug.

This is a higher than 60fps problem.
To stop it, limit your max fps to 58.

I had the same problem getting stuck at a terminal (not in the same way as you).
I used MSI Afterburners StatisticsServer to limit to 58, it hasnt happened since.

Wow, I really love how merely walking close to an NPC initiates a conversation, and if you accidentally walk away from a dialog wheel and try to come back, it's gone forever.

I've done that a few times, walking away totally reset the conversation for me. Never tried it with failed dialog decisions though. I assume that wouldn't work.

Does joining a faction lock you out of any others? Just wondering before I make the choice, it sounded like it might from what the character said, IE "Not taking mercenary" work.

no, you can join them all. at one point you have to choose which side you'll be on.

I figure i'll get high enough level to not worry about it eventually plus i like a real challenge when i play games like this. :p

The second tier of the scrapper perk is awesome. it highlights all the items containing your desired components. so you just go somewhere lacking components and set everything missing as a favorite. Then you can zip through shit like the supermakets

Wow, thanks for posting. Here's the quote that I was confused about:

Items with favorited components are highlighted.
I thought it meant that items with rare materials would be highlighted. I had no idea you could favorite components and it would highlight them in the world! That's amazing.

Hey guys,

Quick question: Now that you've all played it for a while; do you think it's worth getting the game now or wait until the first (major) patch? I've been trying to contain my FLAMING DESIRE but... eh... hard.

If you liked FO3, NV, or Skyrim then you will like this.

Just get it, enjoy it. Life is too short. It's a fun game.

There are bugs, but most have fairly good work-arounds.

Just experimented, it doesn't work with weapons/armor, which is kinda lame.

What is everyone's favored weapon specialization? I crafted myself a decent sniper rifle, but find it unhelpful with the 'monster closets' and other pop-up/crawl-in ghouls that make for close hand combat.

btw, the fallout 4 configuration tool by bilago at the nexus is pretty handy. I did find that lockpicking was sped up beyond usefulness when I unlocked the frame cap. burned through a few picks that way.

all the higher level perks require higher levels, i have sniper rifle and whatever auto gun. mostly the combat rifle, just cant wait till i mod it to 308.

i got my first gauss gun.

I have all the weapon perks except melee, heavy, and pistols. So I pretty much have 1 gun of every ammo type.

So...I'm 29 hours in so far and still haven't visited Diamond City. As such, I think I'm missing out on a lot of weapons I could be getting. So far though, I've been using a Sniper rifle for distance and either a 10mm or laser pistol, both modified to do a lot more damage than base. I think I'm about done with the Brotherhood missions and I just finished the Minutemen mission 'Taking the Castle' last night, that was pretty sweet...hard though. I fast traveled into one city the other night and ended up on top of a roof....staring at an Alpha Deathclaw with no power armor...it was a fun fight.

For general use I like semi auto anything. Bolt action is too slow, full auto is too spendy on ammo. Using a laser rifle and heavily beefed up 10mm pistol right now. Was using a beefed up .38 semi pipe rifle before. Will probably end up with some kind of plasma rifle.

Also have a legendary bolt action 308 that does additional bleeding damage which is nice if I've got some distance between me and the mob (eg queen mirelurk) and should probably put together a full auto something for dungeon and hallway crawling where you frequently need to unload a lot of ammo quickly when something gets in your face.

But I'm also only level 14 and haven't yet spent a single point on any directly combat related perks.

what sucks is you pretty much required to craft shit in this and I hate that....I just keep finding the same damn weapons even after I've ventured out past the easy/medium zone of enemies. All pipe shit... and I can't seem to mod anything at all.

It is sad but I almost want to just cheat and max out my character and give them all the perks just so I can not have to deal with the crafting aspect of waiting ages to be able to do it.

Right now I switch between DB Shotgun, a lighty modded 10mm, slightly updated semi auto pipe rifle and then sometimes a sort laster rifle.

There is a reason why in most successful movies there is a really fast cutscene showing a shelter or other buildings being built before cutting back to the action. Most people don't want to watch Mr Handy in an action flick. They want to see Rambo.

:)

in terms of build, I am level 26 with all currently available perks in sneak, gun nut, gunslinger, sandman, rifleman, bloody mess and ninja. +full camo armor + 50% mutant hunting rifle. I can almost oneshot legendary supermutants by hitting anywhere on their body. It is an insanely powerful build, assuming you can stealth an area and don't get plopped in. The pipe weapons are my basic go to weapons. It's not the weapons that are weak it's the builds that are weak. The more you specialize the more effective you can be.

Improved my front entrance to sanctuary. I have metal walls going all the way around the base too.

I'm just going to say this.
But how come Raiders and mutants can place turrets in shopping carts, but we can't even place one on a guard tower?
The hell?

You dont need to craft or modify anything (other the some story content). You can find legendary weapons and gear throughout the wasteland.

Is there any difference between crafting wood vs metal walls other than cosmetics? Can enemies actually break down wooden walls?

I didn't even know it did this, definitely my next skill to get, I spend waaaaay too much time pixel-hunting in this game to find hidden objects and lootables.

Guess I've gotten too used to Dragon Age/diablo style loot where you can highlight interactable objects.

Does this only highlight materials/items or does it also work on collectibles too? (IE Magazines/bobbleheads).

no, you can join them all. at one point you have to choose which side you'll be on.

Ok, thank you for the reply.

do some of these fraction quests just repeat? feels like i am going over the farms again and again.

Also did some of you know you could do this? I just found out last night.

You can put hats on Codsworth lol. All you have to do is trade with him, give him a hat (helmets don't work, just hats) and then when it's in his inventory highlight it and you can "equip" it on him and he'll wear it.
