Fallout 4

City inside fenway park.

I hope they make the NPCs feel more alive and doing things in the city. I want the towns to feel immersive and have them doing daily activities or hanging out at bars and stuff. FO3 and NV suffered from that, the NPCs felt boring and most of them just stood there or did patrol paths, no interaction what so ever.

the hype is strong with this one

looks fantastic

you boys who think witcher 3 is all that and a bag of chips, can't beat a dog for your best friend..there, I said it

and rifles beat swords every day of the week

and yes, I still want my fallout mmo damn it !! LOL

I'm digging the graphics. Nice to see some vibrant colors versus the disgusting green/brown veil in FO3 and F:NV. It's definitely nothing revolutionary from a technical standpoint but it's pleasant to look at.

I agree.

This is one of numerous areas where Witcher 3 has spoiled a lot of people including myself.

Witcher 3, GTAV, RDR, hell even STALKER are all great examples of a living NPC world. And all the random world encounters made everything so much more fun and entertaining when traveling to other quests.

It certainly looks better then F3/NV, especially the lighting and texture detail. However after playing the Witcher 3 graphically the game doesn't look quite as big a leap from them as I hoped, especially the character models. I mean look at the vault guys hands, lo ok like GTA IV.

Animation wise still loooks janky and (I hope I'm wrong) still looks like they are working with Gamebyro.

Surely they see people don't like that engine and want a new one.

I've never played Fallout but they have my attention...
You should really play FO3/NV.
Exiting the vault for the first time is one of the most memorable moments in gaming history.

How can you deprive yourself of that?! However... it was way more impressive back in ought'8.

If there is one engine worse then gamebryo it's idtech 5.

Disagree completely, but whatever. I've seen some absolutely gorgeous things on Tech 5. Aside from that, Tech 6 is the current engine, and since Bethesda/Zenimax are id's current parent company, one would think they could get access to it. Who knows though, I don't know what their actual business agreement is.

I'll give it a shot. :) Need a few months to beat The Witcher 3 first haha. I have nothing else planned besides Battlefront. I could throw Fallout 3 & 4 in there...

idtech is great if you like framerate caps, having to stay 50 feet away from everything in order for it to not look like shit, and all the texture streaming/popin problems. the evil within is the only game on idtech that doesn't suffer too much from that and you can see what a toll it took in order to achieve it

so long as fo4 runs in accordance with how it looks (ie 120 fps possible on high end systems) i won't have any issues with it, but if it's like the last two fallout games i'm going to be very sad.

Agreed.

Of course all of these games have varying strengths, weaknesses, and focus.

Ultimately, I definitely expect Fallout 4 to deliver the goods we all expect from these games. ;)

Has anyone else noticed the "PC-Ready" under where it has the available platforms?

Horse > dog. You can't ride a dog into battle. Well, you shouldn't.

The graphics being somewhat normal give me hope that I might actually be able to pay it in 4K mode. I'm okay with that kind of concession any day. Hopefully it doesn't stutter like mad like 3 and NV did.

Super underwhelmed by the graphics, but I'll buy it eventually. I've learned my lesson about these games. Wait 6 months until it's $20 and half of the game breaking bugs have been fixed and 1/4 of the of the remaining game breaking bugs can be fixed with console commands. If I was really smart I would wait for the GOTY version.

Honestly, I'd prefer Obsidian on this over Bethesda as their writers are better.
I'm in for some Nuka Cola and Bloody Mess.

Edit: there is quite a lot standing for a city that got nuked. did they borrow the defense shield from Vegas? DC took much more of a beating.

nukes dont just level shit, a lot of stuff remains standing, just look at hiroshima or nagasaki photos after those bombs dropped.

also: graphics look shit. compared to what witcher 3 offers, fallout 4 looks like a 2 year old release.

So funny all of the people saying that it looks like shit. It absolutely doesn't. It doesn't exactly look amazingly incredible or like it kills any of the top graphical showcase games right now, but it's definitely an improvement over previous iterations of the engine, and is at least visually competent.

Besides, The Witcher 3 is making everyone cry right now because they can't all turn on hair extensions. :( At least this should run well on everyone's machines while still looking more than decent.

I love advancements in graphics, but they come a lot fewer and far between at present. Oh well...

Speculation via /r/fallout

Release date October 23rd 2015.
Reasoning, it's a friday, skyrim was released on a friday, and it's the day the bombs fell.

So may have just worked out a time window for the release date. Over on the Bethsoft store there's a page for Fallout 4 with a TBA 2015 over it, but at the top it says: A 20% off code will be emailed to you after purchase. 20% off excludes games, pre-sale, deposit and sale items. Codes expire October 31, 2015.

Guess sometime in October then?

2015 release is semi-confirmed then? It says 2015 on the store, anyway.

Because compared to games that are already out (GTA V, The Witcher 3, DA:I) it doesn't look as good as those, and this is a game that is releasing later.

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a step up vs Fallout 3/NV, but ti's not a "leap" like people were expecting going form last-gen to current gen, it certainly looks like they built the game for 360/ps3 and then decided to just roll it over to ps4/xbone midway through development but without really pushing the graphics for that.

It's mainly the models that just look outdated.

Before you all say: "TROLL!" "LIAR!", etc, you can all can your mouths and ask one of the Bethesda Employees about Me (my username is my name) and they will confirm I worked for Bethesda. I am strictly posting this in "Revenge" for them firing me.

Anyways, I worked at Bethesda Game Studios in Maryland up until last month before I was fired for releasing confidential information (but it was an accident!) and so here I am, sitting unemployed with my 2 kids thanks to those fools. So, I wanted to say: I worked on, and played, Fallout 4. Yes, I did.

Why does everyone in the gaming industry have some kind of mental problem? Yeah, you accidentally released confidential information. Fuck Bethesda for firing you. In revenge, you will release more confidential information.

I agree on the character models. They're not horrible, but they're definitely no advancement. I think the rest looks pretty decent though. My main point is that it's definitely middle ground. Not "shit." Furthermore, no matter which direction they went, there would be plenty of people complaining for one reason or other. "It looks dated." "My hardware won't run it as well as that guy's." etc. etc.

It could look better. Maybe it will at release. I think it's likely that there will be mods to help very early on like with other Bethesda games.

I'm in agreement with those saying that a new engine would have been cool, (or regardless of some peoples' opinions) toss it on an id engine like Tech 6. Still though, they're working with something they know, improving it somewhat, and we get a game that will likely be quite enjoyable a little sooner. People are still to this day dumping hours into Skyrim, and previous Fallouts.

I get a little disappointment, but I think some of the responses floating around are WAY over the top.
