Fallout 4

Is it possible to upgrade the stores or do you have to scrap the old ones and build a new one? Kinda sucks if that's the case.

Imho the crafting system seems tacked on each of the settlements feel half-assed but then again this is fallout 4 not the sims 4.

yeah they are pretty expensive to scrap, imho i would say to just put the new store in a new location unless you really really really want it in that location, i mean it doesnt hurt to put it in a new settlement you may want to flesh out, then the old store still there as well as the new store at the new location.

They really need to update it more with some quality of life updates.

Give us the ability to have an isometric view (so we can place things above others and shit that you can't see easily from being ground level).

Allow us to simply drag and either stretch or shrink tiles (IE floors/roofs, etc, so you can make them "fit" the size you need).

Has anyone tried to just toggle free fly camera?

TFC in console to toggle it, add a 1 after to pause as well.

If you can interact with the build mode in free fly that could make things easier.

Trade routes are finally paying off for me. As I now have plenty of settlers throughout my settlements that I can send and do anything with.
If I find a new settlement, I immediately open up its trade routes. What a cool concept.

Yea you make one food and water camp and it can supply your hole map.

Has any one bases got atacked? I have yet to get attacked that I know of on any bases.

And I hope some one mods in base vuldingrr anywhere thiers some cool places I want to build a base

I have no idea if it was attacked..... but I heard it becomes a mission or something, if you do.... however, I did see a group of 3 mutants escorting a human, and saved her. Don't think it was a resident of my settlement, but they did come from that direction.

Beat one of the major questlines. I think I am done with the game for now. 76 hours on record according to steam.

Overall I would say I enjoyed the game. However I do feel it was somewhat of a let down in terms of RPG elements. The dialogue choices don't really have a huge impact. The companions aren't that great either imo. I ended up using Nick Valentine the most just because I hate hacking computer terminals. More often than not though the companions just got in the way. Also there was a part in the main quest where due to the factions I was a member of, I was able to walk through a major battle without being an enemy of any units involved. I simply walked through the middle of it towards the objective. Kind of poor story planning imo. This happened again with a quest for the institue I was on. I was to meet a Synth and complete a mission with him. During the mission a random Brotherhood of Steel squadron moved in and started attacking the Synth. I couldn't talk to the Synth to complete the quest, I ended up having to wipe out the BOS squadron to complete the quest. Another major gripe I have is the guns. I ended up using the gun you get from Paladin Danse pretty much the entire game. I only switched to a different gun when ammo was low. And towards mid to late game that becomes a non-issue. I felt the whole legendary item system was very "Borderlands" esque. Not something I cared for. The armor abilities were pretty cool but most of the gun unique abilities felt underwhelming, besides the gun you get from Paladin Danse.

I would like to see the endings for the other faction main quest lines but I am not starting over from the begining, atleast not right now.

I spent the first 25 levels of the game just exploring, I didn't go to Diamond City to start the main quest until level 25. In my random exploration of buildings however, I did run into some named enemies that I believe were for quests. They were instantly hostile towards me, and I feel that in my killing killing them I may have missed out on some side quests.

The building of settlements feels very "tacked on" and rushed. And the fact that the game lacks any sort of tutorial on how to build settlements was frustrating. You shouldn't have to go online to learn the ins and outs of a game mechanic, it should be explained in a tutorial in the game. I do wish that atleast with Sanctuary, the settlers would continue to repair the town and fix all the houses so it doesnt look horrible. Instead the settlers just farm plants all day. Some of them act like they are fixing that one house in the center of Sanctuary, but the house doesnt change in appearance at all.

Lastly, in the 76 hours of play time, the game did not crash once. Impressive for a Bethesda title.

I'd give the game a 70/100. - The game feels like Fallout 3.5

I honestly think the whole settlement thing is severely buggy. Not only is there the purified water issue (which after playing for 30+ hours now has only ever given me excess TWICE), but there are a ton of other problems. Setting supply lines is buggy...it's only ever worked once for me. I've set supply lines to half a dozen other places, I see the trade route people come and go, but none of them have shared resources except one. Broken. Also, being unable to randomly move settlers. The shops seem buggy as well...I never get any income from them and half the time the settlers assigned to the shops are nowhere to be found or somewhere else completely. Same with the scavenger benches...sometimes I see settlers working at them but they're doing...what? Nothing as far as I can tell. Then there's this...

What the fuck are they all doing back here? About half the time at night I will come back and this is happening.

I like this game on the whole but I really want to get the settlement thing going and it's just fucking up over and over and over again.

preston looks like he is rubbing one out and a crowed started..

It's not perfect... But then again, it's not the point of the game. It's just a side addition that was added and wasn't in any of the games. Just like many things I'd expect it to be much improved in the next fallout game, this is just a taste of what's possible. It's gotten a little odd for me, seeing similar things as you described. But my resources are shared and water is generated for me.... So I'm having fun with it.

Also focusing more on quests now, but damn I keep getting side tracked! Three times now I planned on going to further the main quest and just ended up getting tangled in side stuff. But it's freaking awesome! I'm having a blast with it. I'm loving the game so far. Enjoying it more then 3. But I still want to go play NV later on.

Also, still haven't gotten the assault rifle yet. I think possibly because I've not advanced far into the main quest? Some type of thing like that. I've come across tons of Raiders and super mutants in various locations, more then a few high level legendary guys but still none to be found. Also rarely find 5.56. I think once I do more main story they'll start appearing. No big deal though.

i have had some funny bugs happen, nothing game breaking just funny things with NPC's. NPCs can definitely be buggy, as in all these Bethesda games. Given the vast amount of stuff going on and vast amount of NPC/companions, I really don't know how anyone could get NPCs/companions to work perfectly in a game like this. Nothing is perfect and it works for the most part. Every now and then they may get stuck, but I know I don't have to stop and wait for them and can just keep running knowing they will be behind me again in a few seconds. That's what counts.

i hate computer hacking, if i can pass through it, then its /console tcl ;)

you know you can reset tries and remove duds. just pick 3 random then reset tries (by scanning and finding brackets) and remove some duds and its hard not to get it right. Also there is a bobblehead that gives you one additional try.

Ok, I've never played any of the Fallout series but I do know about the series. I don't know if it's just my OCD or that i'm getting older, but I always seem to want to analyze the damn game rather then play it. I just created my character and answered the door and talked to that dumb ass dude. Now I have to create my name and put points into the perk tree. I know that there are so many different builds and so many people have varied opinions.

I know I want to shoot people, and hacking robots to follow me around and kill people seems fun. I'm not really into the melee hack and slash build, but I can't pick what points to spend on? I have spent the last 2 hours reading forum threads. Should I just pick something and play? Damn, I hate always wanting to pick the most correct, perfect scenario, or whatever.......

no idea what you're talking about, i guess i have to look it up now.

Just got to the faction decision in the main story, what a disaster.
I hate when games lock you out of content based on a quest choice and there's no option to make everyone happy.

So, how would that work. Be an asshole to everyone, and have it not affect any NPCs attitude to you?Doesn't that sound like making decisions without any consequences?

That suonds useful, but I have no idea what you mean by it.

I'm' guessing higher int also lowers the amount of choices too. My game, with only mid int has like 12 words on screens, while one of the lets play I'm watching only has like 1 or 2. I could be confusing it, but that seems like it.

That said, I've more or less got it down. I still fail every now and then, but its rarer now.

Also just managed to get my hands on a supressor, pity it's for the shitting .38 gun. I need one for my 10mm damn it!

I have had a 10mm supressor since I was level 14...

Yeah there was an early quest that has a named 10mm pistol as a reward. I still use it on occasion and I'm almost level 40. Deliverer is the name of the pistol.

This has probably been covered, but are mods glitched? I have a few in my inventory that are exactly what I supposedly want to attach, but it asks me to rebuild them every time.
Is there any way to take one off of one item (same exact type) and add it to another?
I think I have a grasp on everything else, but the weapons mod stations are throwing me off.
Also - why do some seem to be "connected" to your main stash, but others aren't? Do I have to claim an area to connect the mode stations or something to that effect?
I'm still pretty early (level 11) so I'm trying to get my head around some things.

I wanted to join The Institute but I think I joined Brootherhood of Steel...
I was just roaming around and came upon this dude in Power Armor fighting off a zerg of ghouls.
Sure, I wanted a piece of the cake so I helped him, and talked to him, and the first thing I know, I suddenly got "Join Brootherhood of Steel" achievement on Steam.
I was not following the story, just stumbled upon this guy. Will I still be able to choose who I want to join in the main story?

I think you can join all the factions until a certain point and you have to choose. I just focused on one myself.

I'm not that far but I think it depends on the game ... if factions are diametrically opposed in their goals it makes little sense to allow someone to serve two or more masters ... realistically, could one belong to an organization that wants to save humanity and destroy it and be able to serve both agendas ... now when they make you have an arbitrary choice that isn't tied to thematic goals then that is a problem ...

essentially they did this many times in FO3 since different factions had totally competing agendas (you could serve the slavers or oppose them but not both ... you could disarm the nuke or set it off but not both ... you could side with ghouls or humans but not both ... etc)

That is odd though. Yesterday when I played I did probably 3 small-medium side quests and at the end of each one I fast traveled back to sanctuary to unload my loot and each time my work bench had like 15ish purified waters. I have 3 in ground pumps and 2 water purifiers in the river under the bridge. I have seen settlers pumping the in ground ones but I know you can't assign anyone there specifically.... Also I built a weapons store, and although th settler I assigned isn't always there I can always go up to him and he has an inventory to trade of ammo and weapons. I'm pretty sure I saw some caps get generated over time from the store as well.

It's odd that it won't work for you, almost feel like maybe a reinstall is needed? Not sure what the issue could be. I know it's probably not worth it for you to do that. Maybe the patch will address these bugs.

to add/remove mods... make sure you always use the same station to store the mods. if you are upgrading to a new weapon then take the old weapon and remove the mods you want to keep. you remove them by selecting an option that has "attach mod". you will always need to build the no suppressor option but for no resource cost. Then you switch to your new gun and repeat. New mods should always give an "attach mod" option unless they are the wrong type. Once done click on inventory mod tab and store whatever is there.

Any time there's open brace/bracket/parenthesis on a line followed by a close of the same type, clicking on the leading one will either remove a dud word (most likely) or reset your tries.

So for example, if you have a line that has...

+=(%+*)!@[#@%

...mouse over the leading parenthesis (character #3 on the line) and it will highlight all the way to the close parenthesis (character #7). Click on it and it will remove one of the dud words or reset your tries.

Also note that if there are repeats of the opens or closes, click the inner set first, then the outer set since they both work.

So for...

@[#&[%&^]*#)!

...click character #5 first, then character #2.

So you want to start out in a hacking terminal clicking a few words, making note of the words and number of matches. Then seek out sets of b/b/p until you reset your tries or use up all of the b/b/p sets.

Curly braces and carets also work: { } or < >

A lot of people complain that the game isn't enough of an RPG. First complaint I've seen that it's too much of an RPG.

the .38mm stuff are still useful later on with upgraded guns. obviously there are tons of bad 38 guns. 38mm is themost abundant ammo so don't throw them out right away.

I have seen a video on YT that explains this as well. People having a hard time understanding this could get a visual look as well.

Yeah I really can't believe all these terrible reviews. I'm absolutely loving the game, can't put it down actually. The environment is just so much more interesting, and the improved graphics make it come to life sooo much better then previous games. Personally I think most of the visuals are vastly improved over 3. At first I didn't think so, then I booted up 3 and realized just how much better everything looks in 4. I do completely agree that the stripping of dialogue choices is a negative, however it doesn't take away from the game too much for me. As well as the specials/perks.... I don't see how it's worse.... You have your main skill sets and a crap ton of specials to choose from. I'm totally good with it.

I certainly wouldn't mind more RPG elements and choices that have direct consequences and the ability to be good or evil would be great but regardless I think it's great how it is. I think the improved environments add the most enjoyment over the past games. I haven't been bored once yet. It's easily 8/10 so far for me. Once I finish the main stuff I'll re-evaluate.

Fallout 4 is leagues past Fallout 3. The problem is everyone comparing the game to things like Witcher 3. In my opinion the color palette in FO4 is better than any other game out there. The day just feels vibrant and the lighting is almost photorealistic.

Wait, I thought the Witcher 3 was a dumbed down console game ;)

My only graphical gripe with Fallout 4 is with the people. They look ridiculous. Nearly everything else looks pretty good. Not amazing, but still good.
