Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Announced

You're pretty much stuck with a balanced party in nearly every RPG going all the way back to Baldur's Gate and even the old 1st person D&D boxes, so that doesn't bug me that much. Yes, I know you can win most games using a party of nothing by Thieves if you really want to, but that's more trouble than it's worth in the majority of instances.
Just make the gameplay engaging and the characters fun.

So...I had not seen any examples of combat until now. WTF did they do?? It looks like a giant stupid firework show now like some MMO. I don't want to play an MMO...I want to play Dragon Age. DA:O looked more "realistic" and yes I realize the irony in that statement since we're talking about magic but does your bow and arrow need to look like your launching a Harry potter spell? Man what an ugly combat system.

The game itself looks amazing, I hope I can get used to the combat....

While I agree that things look a bit too "Flashy" I also think the actual magic effects of spells and things that >should< look magical look better with all the particles and fancy lighting.

I wish the melee/bow combat relied more on cool "animations" and less on making it look like everyone is using magic (instead of just the mages).

Also at least Archers actually have quivers and bowstrings now (neither were in DA:O).

Unless they add physics destruction any action will seem bland and dull without magic spell effects.
or they could do real life blood, cut off arms, legs, poke out eyes realistically and then censorship would take hold even if makes more sense such a system would be more realistic what happens when you do dmg.

I think the effects are fine.

Wow, when was the last time the review embargo was lifted this early? I remember back when it was 2 weeks or more prior to release so print magazines had the chance to publish it in time for retail. EA and Bioware must be confident and/or proud of this game.

My guess is has something to do with how crowded November is. For most people, there are more AAA releases than can be acquired day one. Getting people hyped about the game with positive reviews is a good way to try and pick up some extra sales. I don't think it's a coincidence that the embargo ended the day Assassins Creed drops two titles.

Wow, I'm really surprised that it's getting review so well. As disappointing as DA2 was, I really didn't have much hope. Looks like I have yet another game to play in November, which is good since I'm laid off, lol.

I hope the game is not too demanding. The Eurogamer review said that he felt the need to replace his 660 to a 970. I have a 270X which is about the same as a 660 and I hope it will be enough! I upgraded from a 6850 just half a year ago.

It's running on Frostbite 3, so it should scale similarly to Battlefield 4. If you can run Battlefield 4 with a 660 then you should be able to run DA:I. In fact, the recommended and minimum system requirements are exactly the same as BF4.

I wonder how much carry over there will be with regards to choices from DA2, I am seriously considering playing this on console, instead of PC, so I would not be able to import my DA2 save.

You just go here and fill in the choices you made, they will carry over to your DA3 game if you don't have a save file to import:

Reading the reviews, it sounds like a very positive experience overall, only interrupted by minor flaws in combat and a few other things such as the tactical pause screen. But, from what I've read, it has the things I was hoping for more than anything else: a rich and vibrant world, interesting characters and an engrossing story.

the scope of the game is finally getting where I like it.
big and a nice engine to immersive into.
40 different endings so re-playing have its merits.

Where did you hear about the 40 different endings bit? I haven't read/heard anything about that, but if it's true, that's definitely a welcome addition.

Haven't been as excited for a game release in 3-4 years.

Same here. I have had pretty much zero interest in any of the other games that have been released recently. This one is on the top of my buy list, now I just need to find the free-time to play it.

bioware forums, its a bit fanatical to me but the variation of possible endings should be in that ballpark as far I can note.

Yeah, I'm naturally a bit skeptical about such a large number of potential endings, especially given their track record with such claims (I'm looking at you, Mass Effect).

But honestly, given what I've read in the reviews, it would appear that there is a large opportunity for different and varied experiences throughout the course of the game. If that's true, then I won't be upset if there aren't a million and a half different endings. As long as the core gameplay experience can be different across a variety of different playthroughs, I'll be happy.

From what I remember there are only a hand full (under 10 I think) fully unique endings and the rest are variations within those unique endings based on your decisions during the game. Or something like that.

Well, that's better than 1 or 2, and certainly better than 1 ending with 3 different colors of explosions.

I just pre-ordered this using a 25% off voucher I got from GMG (If you link your Steam account, you get a free voucher. Worth a look.) $45, and now all I have to do is wait for release.

Did you guys go through the keep and setup your custom story yet? I had to do it to get my gameplay experience to what it would be if they could properly import DA1 and DA2 saves. I haven't played either game in 2 years or so (probably longer for DA2), so it took a good 45 minutes to get it right. I had to google a lot of DA2 names, I didn't remember most of the characters :(

There's a lot of very small choices that they require your input on.

How does one link their steam account in GMG? Trying to get 25%... their 20% voucher on the front page doesn't work for DA:I apparently.

You have to register for a Playfire account, and then go to your account settings and click on the "sign in through Steam" button. Once that's done, if you click on your "My rewards" tab, you should see a voucher listed there for 25% off. Honestly, the platform is kind of wonky and doesn't always work correctly, so it may take some fiddling around. But 10 minutes of fiddling is worth $15 in savings, IMO.

Seems like a lot of work but it actually is not. I cancelled my other pre-order and it comes out to $45 flat. Took me 10 minutes because I forgot a password.

Yeah, it really isn't a lot, but for whatever reason the website just didn't want to work for me, so I had to mess around with it for a bit.

I installed and booted up DA:O yesterday in anticipation for this. Not for the purpose of re-creating my character or anything, but simply because anticipating this game got me in the mood for playing a bit of DA:O.
