Europe doesnt count ;)

20 hours?...seems really short, at least compared to Doom: Eternal...Eternal seemed like a long game...I replayed Eternal with both Ancient Gods DLC's back-to-back last year and it seemed really long...or maybe I just like taking my time with games and exploring everything so most games take me longer to play than the average gamer
Eternal was about 14 hours for me.

Just snagged an MSI Ventus 5070 Ti which should be here on Thursday. I'll miss the Early Access but the DLC will be useful.

the Ancient Gods DLC's were fun but pretty much more of the same...when they first launched Ancient Gods Part 1 it was brutally difficult and id Software had to patch the game to lower the difficulty...so many of the encounters had way too many difficult enemies swarming you...if you beat Part 1 pre-patch then you get a Gold star

Only played the first 4 missions, but it is silky smooth on my end at QHD (1440p), max settings, DLAA, frame gen off and Reflex on with 5070ti and 5800x3D. My FPS is in the 80-110 range most of the time, but it feels smoother than most other games at similar frame rates. Game seems to be well optimized for responsiveness, but the RT only approach might be an issue on weaker GPUs.

Performance issues could be a machine to machine thing or a VRAM issue. My money is on 8GB card owners pushing their settings too high. The game uses 9.4-9.7GB of VRAM with my settings and typically 5-5.5GB available as windows and background stuff uses around 1GB. Basically on a 10GB GPU you generally want to try to stay below 9GB in the game and on an 8GB GPU you probably need to close down as many background applications as possible, play around with texture cache etc. and turn down a few settings. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people don't understand VRAM limitations and try to run everything max on an 8GB GPU, which could easily cause issues.
Those with 8-10 gb gpu's should stick to a 1.5(1536MB) or 2 gb (2048) texture pool.

Minimum spec cpu listed is an 8 core. Might be time to retire my 8700k. :(

edit*

Seems to run fine. I'm sure there are areas where it might stutter later on. Otherwise ultra nightmare settings 4k ~45fps on my 7900xtx in the opening area.

But from what I've read and seen, Dark Ages looks like a return to form and something I'll really enjoy.
That's what it seems like to me. I'm going to get it but I'm not spending the $100 on the deluxe edition.

I'm enjoying it more than eternal. Eternal had way too much platforming. I can't make any real opinion until I complete the game though, but thus far I like it more.

Running great on my 5800x3d and 4080. AM4 and the 5800x3d is proving to be one of my best ever purchasing decisions. I don't think i've ever owned a platform that has remained this solid this long.

Requirements list nvme storage, but I’m running off a normal SSD and it seems fine. I wonder if there is any real benefit.

I thought that Hulshult may have worked on the music this time around, but it was done by a group that has done a lot of recent game soundtracks called Finishing Move Inc.

yeah i heard that mentioned in a few of the vids. not sure what happened last year (i think thats when they said) but they have parted ways...
lgr touched on it, its fine in some areas, and some feel phoned in...

The sound design in general is the weakest point of the game right now for me. The music is OK, but that's about it. However, the larger issue is there are a lot of elements like the NPC's talking where it's just really low-quality stuff, and the general mix of the audio doesn't sound that great either.

Beat the first chapter.

3840x2160, max in game settings, DLSS set to DLAA, 4x framegen = 225fps locked (225fps to match max reflex fps on a 240hz monitor). Gameplay is fucking amazing, much improved over Eternal.

Not sure I will keep playing, might wait for path tracing to be added. Still have Oblivion and Star Wars Outlaws in my "currently playing" list.

Damn I don't think my 4070 will be able to run this at 4k 144hz. The game not that optimized? Looks like theres not much difference on the presets from low and ultra nightmare. We need lower settings for lower end cards.
Med Details and you should be good. I am hoping for 60-90FPS 1440P and high details on my 4070 Super and 5700x3d

The codex page I missed in Village of Khalim was because I was a dumbass and didn't go through the path uncovered by one of the demon portals.

Of not when you replay missions: if you pick up any Life Sigils/1UPs, they're gone forever from subsequent playthroughs on the same save file.

I'm listening on the Surround mix with Atmos for headphones enabled and the mix isn't that bad, but the impact sounds seem to definitely be lacking some of that meatiness they should have.

Played a bit more, and still no crashes on my end, and I still refuse to update the driver for now.

Played a bit more, and still no crashes on my end, and I still refuse to update the driver for now.
From the developer:

Users with NVIDIA GPUs running the latest drivers who have AMD Ryzen CPUs may experience persistent crashes at launch.
To prevent or resolve this issue, either disable the integrated GPU in Windows Device Manager[www.elevenforum.com] or download and install AMD driver version 25.4.1.[www.amd.com]

I disabled in the bios integrated graphics instead. Waiting until I can play it as well.

I went ahead and bought this. We'll see how it goes. I didn't spend the extra money on early access so I'll have to wait before I can play it.
