So my knight has a heal spell. When cast on himself it seems to cast a second time after a couple seconds, is this a bug?

Oh apparently it was part of the sale then. There was a user on GoG forums claiming they got the DLC for the same price as GoG price without DLC.

Depends, what does the spell say? Certain spells heal over several turns while others are a one time shot. (For example, Minor Heal is a multi turn heal).

Cure Wounds: Immediately heal a nearby target for 111 Vitality.

Also--What's the deal with the Rock, Paper, Scissors game during dialogue? Will chance let me win an otherwise impossible game if I play? (Say for instance 5 charm vs 2 charm--if i play the game will I by chance be able to beat the 5 charm?) It seems when i press space to skip the outcome is always the higher stat player, and the lower stat player never even scores a globe. It's kinda weird and confusing.

So far I like the Dragon Knight Saga better than Original Sin... but it's not a bad game.

Re: Paper/Rock/Scissors, yes, you can win a 5 vs 2 charm encounter. That said, I feel the game cheats on several rolls. Firstly, there are NEVER any ties, so the enemy AI is definitely aware of your roll before its roll is calculated. Secondly, I've had the computer make a perfect counter to my ending play 15 times in a row when I was trying to beat the odds with save scumming, always on the very last roll, even when I cast the same object several times in a row (if the game were random chance, it's statistically improbable for that event to occur with that frequency).

I like the game so far but I find the movement outside of combat cumbersome in the extreme. Is there a quicker way to search pots? I guess Diablo and Torchlight spoiled me in terms of moving through an area and looting things is fluid. In this game I find checking pots/etc to be torture.

I've found it quicker to use shift and queue up the searching of barrels, as they open up hit space to loot all. Can clear a lot of stuff quickly

Is the pet pal perk worth having over the longer course of the SP campaign?

I kinda like Pet Pal even thought it isn't mandatory. It adds a little flavor to the game and since it's a single-player game there's no need to pick those "power-gaming" perks anyways cause you can always win without them.

It isn't bad, and maybe I've missed things, but there are few animals to talk to with substantial dialogue but you can certainly take it without weakening your character.

Dude petpal is the best. You get some awesome dialogue with animals that are hilarious.

One thing I wish were done differently is the bonuses you get from personality. Takes away from the role play if I'm trying to remember to be righteous on one character and not on another, etc. The bonuses are too specific for certain builds. They ought to have been more generic so that with whatever temperament you choose to take on a character the bonus you get is of some value.

Ok so I finally picked upt he game and I am still trying to wrap my head around building a character.

I want to have a melee fightier/magic user hybrid, is that able to be done?

Yeah, ignore the "classes" and customize it yourself. I would probably focus on two primary skills per character if I were you. So Man-at-Arms, and a magic category. I suggest Witchcraft personally. I'll put it this way, down the road when I play from the beginning again I will take a pyro/witch mage and a scoundrel (or ranger but I already played that character). I think that's your solid starting combo but of course pick whatever you like.

Started with a witch and wizard and that is slightly overpowered. Witch buffs and wizard 1 shots almost everything except bosses.

Trendkill has done a few YT videos on the game. He explains a lot about getting started. I'm hoping he does some Lets Play. Always liked his insight and sense of humor.

How much did this go for during the Steam sale?

Pretty intrigued with the gameplay I've seen so far!

I bought it full price to have something to play during a week vacation, and I'm not disappointed.

The gameplay is something I have never experienced. The only games similar I've played are xcom, dragon age origins, kotor, and the dig. Not that similar, I know. But there are certain elements from all these games. The combat is akin to xcom with party based turn based action points. The world and character management is more like doa and kotor. These things I expected based on the footage I saw.

What I didn't expect is the sheer number of interesting encounters and intricate environmental puzzles. I find myself studying the area for clues and ideas on how I want to advance. I haven't studied a game like a puzzle since I was a kid playing old adventure games like the dig.

I'm still not very far, but this game has such a wonderful mix of gameplay elements that I'm absolutely hooked atm. Loving it!

If you're willing to do the gray market thing, the game isn't region restricted, so you can get keys from people in other countries for cheap. The current going rate on steamtrades.com is about $18 (or 8-9 TF2 keys if you want to go that route).

I might give it another shot. I didn't make it far before I quit and never started it again. Didn't hook me right away, like DA:Origins did, but maybe I need to put a couple hours into it.

I'm having the same feeling on this one. I've tried to keep going a few times, but it's not drawing me in yet. (I'm a big fan of XCom original, Dragon Age Origins, etc).

I'll keep trying, may be a good one when winter comes in and easier to focus... now I'm doing too much outside the house.

I just saw something on the internet about setting a main character dialogue AI. Does anyone know where to set this?

When you make your two characters you can choose an AI, "random" or "loyal" or none.

No AI on both your main character + companion means that during dialogue you pick the replies for both characters.

Whereas the two other AI's do it instead, loyal has them agree with you whereas random is a paper/rock/scissors type of thing (Which many people seem to not have known and regret this choice).

It's NOT a "personalty" choice or anything, it just reflects the dialogue choices.

I left it off personally, because I wanted to control how both characters responded and also didn't want to get screwed out of quests (This can happen if you random AI and let it pick opposite choices then what you want).

Ah okay, that's too bad that it's chosen at the beginning of the game, but i guess you always mess up your first characters in games like this.

I think i chose none because i choose the dialogue for both of my main characters, though it does go to RPS if I make them disagree on something.

I've been playing on my laptop with low graphics settings. Finally got it loaded up on my rig on ultra--looks quite nice!

Unfortunately my computer wont run it for long without locking up. Has anyone had problems with any of the games graphics settings causing system freezes?

Yeah this game is taken up all my time, I just hit level 9 during the braccus fight yesterday and according to steam I have about 30hrs logged.

This game has been more stable than most triple a launch titles. Solid performance and zero lock ups/crashes.

    This is my goty.

Looking forward to my second playthrough. My first playthrough i opted to go Barb (2hander) and Witch.

Not freezes, but it has crashed on me a few times in the 30ish hours I've put in.

Been playing for a bit, but there are a few nagging questions.

Anyone know what the actual motivation is for using a xbow? 6 AP vs. 4 AP for a bow seems a bit odd.

Also, once you get Tenebrium weapons... did I basically just waste my points in weapon skills? I know I can refund, but it appears to refund all my abilities and I unlearn all my skills... annoying.

This is exactly my current playthrough! Sadly I read a little too much in the SA thread on this game and saw a spoiler about companions that kinda let me down

There are only two in the game, the two I just found. One of which is also a two-hander specced fighter which leaves my party rather lopsided because of my starting characters. I figured that there would be many companions of all sorts because of the first room you unlock where they say your unused companions will chill.
I guess with the new AI coming out soon and everything I've learned in my first adventures in the game restarting won't be so bad.

Has anyone used the henchmen? Do they differ much from other companions?

Okay thanks. Seems like it's pretty stable for everyone so I'll begin troubleshooting elsewhere. Ugh, i hate problems like this!
Wow! That came a LOT quicker than I expected. Once i get my computer stable, i'll start a new game. So stoked!

So if this was the first official patch, what were all of the other patches they released? Unofficial official?

Yeah you can hire others, I haven't tried it yet. But I do agree having 2 2handers on the first playthrough is kinda stupid.

But since Shield + 1hander seems weak at the moment, there is no taunt so i really don't see the point in a shield character.
