D3 getting a patch or something today?
No. I think its SC2. I heard theres some big update today. Apparently, D3 servers are on the same machines as SC2 heh.
i switched my main farming build as DH from glass cannon to a tanky/SP Gloom/life on hit based grenade/spike trap build (with proper timing, gives triple loot on blue packs like monk exploding palm)
feels good to not get 1 hit by everything now
and the extra drops aren't bad either
although i still use my glass cannon build for going through act3/4 or ponies
as far as playing the game, i am playing just until guild wars 2 is released

It's not really because of the SC2 servers(even though sc2 did get a big patch) but more because battle.net servers were down and both games go through that.
I just have my templar loaded with MF gear. lol. I tried getting him all geared out but it didn't seem to make much difference. Especially on most champ packs. He's basically a 1 time mega stun then dies after that. Although I hven't really gone shopping for him since GAH prices have come down so maybe thats what I need to do for that extra little push to get me through A2.Yeah I switched to the Enchantress for a while and although the attack speed bonus is nice, my survivability significantly dropped. That's even with the 15% armor bonus she gives. I guess every bit of distraction from the templar on top of his heals adds up in the end. This is as Wizard btw. I have him loaded up with survivability gear so his dps is shit, but I think his effective health is north of 750k. I haven't upgraded his rings though.
Can you post your build/stats? I've thought about switching from glass cannon type build to something a little more durable.
sure
my old glass cannon farming gear/build was lacking some dps stats as i put magic find above all other stats, ended up having around 240% MF no-stacks with 60k dps (130k with sharpshooter) , although i could still kill butcher in about 3 seconds
here's my new budget tanky build

if you see gear that doesn't look like i got it on a budget, it was probably crafted or a hand-me-down from friends
I do have a 1h xbow and a sacred shield with 70AR, 70 Vit, 20% Block chance (for the tough high act packs)
What i really went for in gear hunting for this new build, was:
- All Resist
- Vitality AND/OR Dexterity (you start stepping into Monk territory and gear prices skyrocket when you have both) (honestly you don't need that much dex, main dmg comes from the weapon)
- Life on hit
- Then all the other lesser stats when possible :
*physical resist (double resist can get expensive)
*armor
* even intelligence (gives all resist)
the quiver was from my glass cannon build (as i said, i have a 1h and shield that i occasionally use)
the bow was also taken from my glass cannon build (replaced the emerald), and i choose to use a 2h xbow because spike trap is based on weapon dmg, so in order to successfully get triple the amount of drops, the elites must die at the same time and a weak spike trap explosion dmg will not cut it
chest and quiver have max disc, high disc pool preferred because you will be spamming caltrops and gloom. preparation will also restore you to max, so if you raise that ceiling, you get more disc back
some pieces of my gear you can definatley see where i went "low budget" , such as the ring with int on it.

the build depends on life on hit
caltrops with jagged spikes give immense life return
-the idea is to:
-run to a group of elites
-place a spike trap on 3 of the elites
-pop Shadow Power with gloom to reduce dmg as you ball up the group of elites
-run to a corner or a wall
-activate Chakram (with Shiruken Cloud)
-then with shadow power active, drop 6 Caltrops (with jagged spike runes)
-hold shift to stand still and spam gas grenades, and dropping more caltrops (after 12 seconds)
triple loot is hard to pull off in act 3/4 , so i suggest going 1h + shield and replacing spike trap with sentry (with guardian rune) to beef yourself up.
and at the end of the day, monks do it better because their explosive palm works on percentage of the dying mob's hp, while our spike traps are a flat weapon dmg %![]()

My earning trends from RMAH.Looks like the market crapped out around the 4th of July.
Wow.. how much money did you make of the RMAH? It is crazy to me that people would pay real money for imaginary things like this, I can see maybe gold or leveling services but for a specific item?!
I have pretty much given up on this game for the time being. I was able to get PoE installed on my mac and running properly. The passive skills tree has me completely enthralled there and the game play is pretty good (no worse than D3). If this is what the game is like in beta I am excited to see what it will be like in full retail release.

This has been brought up over and over and over. What does it matter for one? Its not your money. Whats the difference in someone paying a monthly subscription? Then you proceed to say that you can see it for gold or leveling services. Are you kidding? So someone buys gold with irl money and then buys item with that gold and that is ok now by your standards. And leveling services? You def gotta be kidding on this one. If you don't even want to level up a char then why would you have even bought the game?
Right, but individual items--not even particularly great ones--are selling on the RMAH for $100 or even $200! That price is completely outrageous by any standard, and yet people are willing to pay. A $15/mo subscription, or buying some WoW gold for $20 isn't even in the same league.
I can't read the Y axis of your graph. Can you check it and reupload? I'm curious to see...

This is why I love(d) EVE Online. You actually have a buy/sell scenario with price and volume history. Sellers can post sell orders, buyers can post buy orders, there is a spread, and you have all the info you need to make money in the market. The D3 AH is essentially an in-game craigslist.I constantly hear on the trade forums: "It's that expensive because that's what the market will bear". Just because 100 items are 1 million gold does not mean that those items are worth 1 million gold. I'm sorry, but while an item is only worth what people are willing to pay, we don't have that information. All we know is that multiple people listed an item at a huge price. And then there are the people who are like "Well, I sold an item yesterday for X million gold". Well, I've also sold items for several million gold, but that doesn't mean it's common.
It's all about psychology. The same line of thinking is why games today sell for more than games yesterday once you take into consideration DLC.
People don't mind being nickel and dimed to death, even if in the long run it costs them more. You notice the big screen TV you purchase, but do you really consider the dollar you spent on a pack of gum? Sometime try this. Keep track of EVERY expense you make for a month, from the very large ones to even dropping a penny for a gumball. Unless you do this religiously, you more than likely will be surprised at how much you spent, and how high a percentage the small items took.
You can use this to your advantage in Diablo 3 to still make a decent amount of money, even today. Don't try to make the big score on that item. Unless it has all the right stats, and several near perfect rolls on those stats, you probably won't be breaking the $100 any more. My guess is that most of the people who were willing to spend the large amount of money are no longer needing to spend the money (be it they already have what they need, or they don't play the game any more, etc.) Focus on selling gold, which goes for .25/100k gold. Doesn't sound like much, but it sells. Sure, try selling your item for what you think you can get for it first if you think it will sell. But if it doesn't, consider the gold AH and selling your gold.
I got into an arguement with the trade channel yesterday over the buying and selling. People think the game is dead, and that the fact no one is spending 100 million gold on a socketed ring is proof of this. This is faulty logic. I don't know if the game is dead or not, but those two things are unrelated. People aren't spending 100 million gold because the item is junk.
Think of it like the book Moneyball. Why would I spend 1 million gold for 1 item with a perfect dex stat, and 1 million gold for another item with a perfect vit stat, when I could spend 20k gold for an item with half dex and half vit, and another 20k gold on another item with the same stats. Even if it's only 85% as effective, it's 40k gold vs 2 million. There's a baseline of what's needed to beat the game, which is fairly cheap. But the prices skyrocket past that, but they're too expensive for the value of their worth.
I would love if Blizzard could enhance the AH to make it better. Allow searching for more than 3 stats. Allow me to search based on the current bid price as well, so I can find auctioned items with no buyouts. Allow me to search based on the games vendor price. And allow statistics on what has sold.

Finally, another way to save a TON of money. Look for auction items with gems in them where the current bid is less than the cost of the gem. This alone has saved me a fortune. I don't care if it's a wand with 100 strength and 5 dps. If I can get that Star Emerald for only 100k, it's worth it. I can always vendor the wand afterwards. You'd be surprised at how many people make this mistake.

The first 00 is $1.00 (yes, one dollar), the second is $2.00 and so on. Pretty easy to rack up three bucks, I have been selling a lot of crap for $1.25 myself, but the time it's all said and done you receive $0.21 per item sold, sell ten and you are at $2.10. Easy really.
I gotta say this is just a weird gear imo. DHs should not stack LoH, especially with a xbow. You're not a melee class so dont try to be one. Even with a more balanced build you should be able to take 1 to 2 hits and have much more DPS. When you have above 50K dps unbuffed, not that hard for DHs, all you need for life is gloom. Since it returns life based on a percentage of damage you deal. And you might think, well one hit isn't enough. When you're melting monsters fast with high dps, it will be over much faster than you think. Plus gloom has two fold advantage, its practically a life saver when going against reflect.
Of course you can play the game anyway you like, but it seems like your playing it like a monk. I mean 21K dps from a DH, I didn't even think that was possible. You'll never be as tanky as a monk or barb so imo why even try.
So just trying to help you out, but you have waaay too much resist and not enough dps.
I am guessing the only stuff that actually sells in the RMAH is level 60+(preferably 62 or 63) gear? I put up some stuff for minimum price and didn't even get a bid. It was decent gear, but mid 40's or so.
Considering you can hit 60 in like 20 hours, there's little point in paying for gear to be replaced by better in an hour.

Funny.
I purposely cut off the Y axis so I wouldn't be bombarded with questions. I was earning quite a bit there in the first few weeks though, more than my current job pays. Wish it would have stayed like that.
Edit: Fuck it, the Y axis label goes $2500, $5000, $7500, $10000.
Few people have the patience to bid on something. If you put something up with a reasonable buyout then it will sell. If similar items are listed for 150k then don't put yours at 149,999, put it at 129k or some such and it will sell just fine.I am guessing the only stuff that actually sells in the RMAH is level 60+(preferably 62 or 63) gear? The one thing that is for sure flawed in this video is that you don't need to have an item on the front page to snipe it. All you need to do is click the different tabs. So say the item you want is on page 5 of the results and there are 4 mins left, then just go to your sell tab and then back to your search tab, if will update the remaining time just fine. You don't need to spam search at all.As for the AH if you want to make more money this dude covers it pretty well.....assuming you have the time and patience. Link

This is pretty interesting. I didn't see your MF but from the gear in the screenshot it doesn't look like you have a lot of it or are you using a different set to kill with the caltrops as shown in the video?i understand what you're saying.
the thing is, this whole setup is pretty much to get triple loot drops from elite packs.
this is like... farming with your eyes closed style
a demo i just recorded:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj4aDSEdNQA
i didn't even use grenades
my regular old setup is glass cannon -> smokescreen, prep, caltrops, SP-gloom ... and i do melt mobs. but i don't get extra loot

Understood. Here is a screenshot of money withdrawn from Paypal (it's just showing one page), and here are two screenshots of money received from Blizzard: One, two. It's the Internet and it's not unusual to face a healthy amount of skepticism. I can see how some folks were forking out $250 a piece in the first couple of weeks but my gut feeling from literally over a decade of being involved with RMT is that those people were few and far between. If you actually made $8,000+ on D3 then congratulations, that's likely some very exceptional performance far above the average earner that started the game at release.

Everything was done on my own. Many of those days I'd come home from work, and slave away until bed time. Rinse and repeat.wow. how many bots you run?
True. Then again I only got extremely shitty drops, I don't get how some people get these really good ones. I just sell my stuff for really cheap in regular AH now. For the past few days I haven't played, just listing random crap from my storage box.
