Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Wow, this auciton house gold dupe is a huge deal and probably wrecked the economy, which is what I like about games like these.

To me the biggest problem with this game is the way legendaries roll. They have the drop rate right, but when you factor in that 99% of the drops you do get are shit it goes out the window. The items need to be completely redone. They need to design a weapon to do a certain thing, and then roll different variences of those attributes thus creating a "normal/mediocre version" and then a "perfect" version.

Create lengendaires that add to certain skills for builds etc.

Also the content needs to be reworked with more events and dick measuring. As I have mentioned before... ENDLESS DUNGEON PLZ.

So what they're saying is that for players like me, who are super poor and couldn't afford even mid level items prior to the patch, should probably just quit the game because I never find any good items to begin with, and now I'm extremely priced out of the gold AH.

So your saying they should of did it like Diablo 2? I completely agree :D

The legendaries, yes.

I still don't think the atrribute points and skill tree were really what contributed the problems for D3. I actually like the way the skills and combat build from each other. Like a CM wiz for example. I like only having to have one of each class built and then just change around gear to try a different build. I don't want to have to start over each time or run the risk of screwing my build because of a decision at lvl 5 or something (hence why I think PoE good, I get apprehensive because I don't want to screw myself which leads to me not playing).

Apparently the latest decision is not to rollback.

Wouldn't this permanently damage the economy? The duped golds have been transferred and exchanged in so many different ways I doubt they can clean them up.

Good thing Blizzard took out LAN and offline Modding that were so instrumental to D1 and D2's longevity, in order to totally eliminate the possibility of cheating. They should declare victory and stroll out with a mission accomplished sign any minute now.

Wonder if they will implement a ladder system soon to reset everything.

No. If you really think about it how did the duping harm Blizzard? For every person that bought cheap gold, Blizzard made a few pennies on the RMAH sale. Now you say but the gold was sold at the wrong price! Who cares they can make more as it is a false economy in the first place. But I can't afford anything now! Buy some really cheap gold off the RMAH and give Blizzard a cut of the real money that was involved in it's sale.

So why rollback a server again? So the player base can feel more comfortable in their status? So the guys that had legendary items listed for 2 billion can get them back as they are worth 200 billion now? All Blizzard cares about is how much did they nickle and dime you. How much did you leave in your Battlenet account? How much can they skim off you in the future? If you think what they did was noble "saving everyone's progress" they made in those few hours while the bug was there then you're pretty much disillusioned and nothing can be done for you. Not saying you are. :)

Hahaha, love it. We created online only and our own RMAH so we can get away from duping only to get rampant duping and hacks. Tools.

Do they still have it so you have to farm random mob packs instead of bosses or have they changed that?

Nope still have to farm mobs/elites. They talked about doing something with bosses in upcoming patches. Unfortunately it seems to be stuck in the "ideas" stage at this time.

Well they did add special Items to Mid Bosses its how you get the plans for the new crafting....but you only have to farm that for a few hours before you have them all...or spend 100k in the Auction house to get them all.

it's as simple as adding in respecs. which PoE has.

I didn't mind D3's skill system at first, but as i've had a chance to compare PoE and D3, the skill tree for me does really draw me in. I like having a build which makes me more powerful, and picking my specializations.

Yeah, I kind of forgot about crafting after I crafted a couple upgrades for myself...although I still keep hoarding gems, demonic essence, brimstones, etc...for what what have no idea! :)

I had major issues with D3's skill system at first but started liking it a little over time.

The biggest issues with D3's skill system are:
1. Virtually no usable synergies.
2. 9 assignments wasn't and isn't enough.
3. Not enough variety.

I see no reason they don't have a Saved Build system and alternate weapons. That way with a push of a button you can go from a Akon Wizard to a Critcal Mass wizard with the push of a button.....I mean the whole point of removing the skill tree was to allow for on the fly adjustable builds.....why not have 2 equipment configurations and 2 Skill configurations.....

Yea maybe if they actually put more thought into the moves they gave us. But the difference is when i ding in PoE i'm excited for the point i get to spend. In D3, at around level 20, each ding is like "oh look another stupid rune i'll never use" (obviously there are some exceptions)

Exactly what I've been saying all along. I had fun playing the game when I first got it but there certainly are some things that should have been done differently. I still don't understand why they didn't include adjustable builds since its even a feature in WOW now.

I don't think that is the reason. I think the reason for no permanent skill choices was to increase accessibility to more casual gamers. By having the ability to switch your build, you are removing the fear of making a "wrong decision" so it's one less barrier for the new players. That's what this game is all about.

Unfortunately that's what a LOT of games are about lately.

And when Torchlight 2 went more hardcore many people, including a suprising number of gamers on this very forum, bitched about not having a respec option.

You can't win, either way.

That's just a stupid move on their part. There is nothing "hardcore" about not allowing respecs. The difference is, there should be a price. Like WoW had, and PoE has.

Implement the ability, but make it cost enough that you are careful.

And eventually the price becomes just one extra button to click, once the economy is settled. When in WoW, I never once worried about the cost to respec.

In D2, I never worried once about re-rolling for a new build. In fact, it was entertaining due to you being rewarded with random events (boss spawns) that could occur during gameplay that yeilded random rewards. (set items, phat lewts)

In the end, I don't care how it is done, just that the game is fun.

How often/long did you play D2. Over the 12 year period I had several addictive stints in D2, I would go hardcore and get "rich" then fall off until a ladder reset or new patch.

When I got an account to the point where I had to start respecting and starting over my interest wained. Have a build so complicated that you can jew yourself at lvl 5 is ludicrious. There is nothing "hardcore" about it, it is just another reason to bitch.

Now?
Maybe not.

In Vanilla, respec'ing was a much bigger part of your revenue if you had to do it a few times and the price went up FAST.

I used to be in the "hardcore good - carebear bad" camp but I'm edging on 30 and casual is great! I love it!

Well, thanks to the gold dupers and the rollback of the AH (at least to patch 1.07 style AH), I've been able to make more money in the past 3 hours than I have in the past 3 months.

I don't understand why people can't seem to grasp simple economics and wait 1 week so they save a ton of money, but oh well.

I hear there is a new bug where items you list are missing zeros. Might be some really hot deals on the AH until it goes down again for maintenance. :)

Took my Monks gear and tossed it over to my Demon hunter and pretty much got an instant 222k demon Hunter.

Still don't like the demon hunter though. However I was Playing with a Monk who was using Cyclone Strike and I was using Bola shot + Cluster arrow is awesome on MP8 and it was awesome.

Pull them all in with Cyclone strike.
Then Bola Shot for area damage
Then Cluster Arrow for area damage
Then Wave of light

But other than this I find the Demon Hunter to be so boring. He needs some type of power attack like Impale but one that does a lot of damage....Say 829% like wave of light.

I never understood why they didn't make any of the grenade moves for the DH like a one and done large bomb on a cooldown.

I think they wanted to make his play style quick and weak with hit and move attacks...which they succeed in doing... that's just not my play style.

I get that, they just had too many moves which required you to stand still and spam.

I remember unlocking more and more runes which never fit into the spec i was using (bola shot). I didn't need another move to spam, i needed more utility/nuke moves.

I just wanted my 1 hand crossbows to do as much damage as a 2hnder. Did they ever fix that disparity?
