Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

After buying Immortal King's Gloves and Immortal King's boots, my last two set items that I found were... Immortal King's Gloves and Boots. Not that I am complaining, just random.

I found IK gloves with 190something str, 10% crit, 45% crit dam, 6% damage reduction, and the other static mods.

I'm happy. I will get a good bit for these on auction.

I just did one run after about 2 weeks off...and got 1 legendary and 1 set item to drop...lol

Both crap, but I feel like it happens everytime I take a week off or so...

Got some great stuff today. Found a nice dex based Echoing Fury that sold for 50M fairly quickly (it 224 dex, 81% crit damage and 1200 dps). I immediately went and got Zunimassa's boots for the set bonus and boosted my dps by about 13k overall. I farmed up another 3 machines and gave MP10 ubers a shot. All my attempts up to MP7 were easy, but frustratingly netted me poor drops; I haven't even crafted my first ring up to that point. To my surprise, I was able to beat all the encounters! The toughest fight by far was the Mahgda/Leoric duo though. That bitch is the sole reason why the fight dragged on the longest.

When I crafted my first Hellfire Ring, it was actually a pretty sweet roll: 186 Int, 3.5% crit chance and 25% crit damage! Pretty average values, but the properties were right. It was a 2k dps drop over my weaker ring, but it's gonna stay on my Wiz in for foreseeable future. Now that I know I can farm MP10 ubers solo, its gonna make future rings much easier to acquire.

Think you could duo with my monk? I can farm machines. I just think it's a waste of machines to go at anything less than mp10. My monk is almost 73 and 148k unbuffed damage. If I could solo them, I would.

It's worth a shot. I was pretty comfortable against Ghom/Rakanoth and Siegebreaker/Kulle, though my fingers were getting tired from all the button mashing lol. With 2 players, it'll be quite crazy.

Mahgda/Leoric may be problematic though, since it's virtually impossible for me to keep em together (I can't "permafreeze" the bosses yet and I don't even know if its possible) so arcane sentries and other crap will get thrown around.

Hmm. MP9 might be a good option. I have just had bad luck in MP8 ubers. I went 6 for 9 on organs.

Though, I suppose one day I can tag along on an mp10 uber and we can try duo. If we or I keep dying, I can just leave game and you can finish the run as you normally would. I can prob supply the machine for your troubles. heh.

Yeah no harm in trying. My dps is actually pretty low, like in the 120k range. I have to swap to a low dps/high LoH weap for Siege because of Reflects Damage and I stuck with the same weap against Leoric/Mahgda because of some hard to predict stuff. I'm not sure how much health scales with players nowadays, but if its less than/equal to double, and you do more dps than me, it could be beneficial overall, provided that you can stay alive lol. (My battletag is Yoshiyuki#1523 btw). My gear should only get better at this point, though upgrades are kind of difficult to predict.

Prior to a gear upgrade I bought a few minutes ago, my effective DPS was over 943k. I can provide the damage, but I can't solo them at least not without something getting frozen in place from time to time. Haha. Mahgda may present a challenge. But she always does anyway. I'm leveling atm, but will hunt for keys tmrw. I have multiples of all except *cringe* the act 2 keys.

I don't mind doing ubers either if you guys want to invite me. I have 3 devices made. I've done it a few times on mp10 with a CM wiz. Doing that actually made me make a few keyboard macro's so I didn't have to hold my buttons the whole time. I'd think it should be pretty easy with the 3 of us. Just have to pay attention when they come unfreezed. SK has a tendency to do his ethereal walk thing which can waste you if you don't catch it.

Edit: Completely unrelated, I just watched an amulet go from a bid of 140m with 5 minutes left to over 400m. That sucks, although I'm not surprised I guess. 26-59 damage, 76 dex, 94 vit, 11% life, 40 physical, 10 crit, 81 crit damage. That would have been a pretty sick steal

Edit: And the nat boots I wanted just jumped 150m too, fuck my life :( The gloves I was thinking about bidding on jumped 250m. Nat ring just went up 70m. All in all it was a really bad half hour. Why are other people awake at 6am on a Sunday!

I've been prepping for Ubers too, but I havent made the shift to CM builds yet. My Crit with a skorn is pretty high (43%), so changing for a LS 1hander and an apoc/crit triumverate should put me over 50% crit. Still saving up for a good crit tal's alligeance, then I'll look for a good LS/Critd or LS/socket echoing fury and off hand, and maybe a storm crow for 17-20 APOC total. So I'm a few upgrades away from attempting Ubers as a CM.

If you guys need a DPS though, I should be good with my current gear setup. I'd drop Archon for meteor and switch hydra to molten or venom if someone is locking them in place, that should be some pretty high DPS, though I'm not sure the effective dps yet.

I've got 5 machines to play around with so far. I've yet to do any ubers, so I'm either waiting for a carry group (that will clear for supplying the machines at no extra cost cost) or my full transition to CM build to try soloing ubers.

Got a solid Tal Rasha's BP to sell this morning that netted me 170m, combined with the gold I had did fairly well on gear I think. Got new gloves, amulet, nat ring and boots. With my Scoundril and Breath up I'm at 198.5k

Pretty happy with that. Upgrades are going to be harder to come by now

I'm up for some Ubers if anyone needs help (or wants to help me :D )

I can fulfill a couple roles:
-Cluster Nuke DH (optimally if someone in the party is a CM Freeze Wiz)
or
-CM Freeze Wiz

Indeed, that caught me off guard a few times. Idk if it only happens on my end, but he rarely even shows the visual animation in the midst of all the explosive blasts and often appears like hes just walking forward. Only when I see my health drop drastically with that awkward walk is when I realize he's using that attack. I rely on Force Armor to survive all the encounters, so I never really get insta-gibbed (my EHP was in the low 200ks on my first attempt). Force armor + my low DPS weapon with high LoH contributes to my overall DPS loss for these specific fights, but they are pretty critical components atm. I just got a cheap Storm Crow for experimentation. Right now, it's a significant dps loss, but an EHP boost. Since it gives an elemental damage bonus as well as LoH, it also might pay off one day when I get a black weapon with some LoH. Looking at an echoing fury/triumvirate combo.

Overall, I'm still not 100% confident in doing MP10 ubers with others, unless you're really patient and feeling risky. :D I can die infinity times solo and not feel anything about it while I'll feel bad if I can't perform well with others.

Just got carried with 2 full runs, first on 9, second on 10. 2/3 dropped the first time, so I'm 1 short of creating my second ring. FIrst was a failure, not a single of the 3 trifecta. Hoping to at least get a crit one for a new ring, even if a dps loss overall.

I was with a full blown CM wizard, it was amazing, almost full lockdown. He kept up stretch time (IAS), while I did increased time warp. Was a constant stream of explosions twisters and freezes, while me a DH and a Barb were dpsing down.

It seems to be a good model of what i need for CM build. He has 14% more crit than me, which I'll make up most of it when go MH/OH and get a new ring. He also has only 17 APOC, so I can get that with an storm crow and triumvirate (or chantandos set for less DPS but more survival). Now I'm heavily considering spending my money to get these pieces over pushing my Archon farming build to MP5.

I really wish we got pick up radius as part of paragon level so I didn't need to waste a gear slot for it. It sucks entirely too much to pick up gold without it, and when you can get 1m a run you really should be picking it up.

I ran a buddy through nightmare earlier today. That was hilarious. Used my DH. Laid traps as I went, melted enemies. We pretty much just did point to point running the whole way.

Yeah, CM is a great build, but very tricky to gear for. There's so much dynamic synergy going on with each ability that it's difficult to quantify a "true" dps or survivability boost over a dps/ehp boost on paper.

More crit means more damage from skills (obviously) and more healing if you have some life steal, but it also means more CM procs, which in turn means more damage from getting skills off CD sooner and more APoC to keep that output sustainable. This implicitly increases survivability if you have a lot of LoH since you'll be casting more stuff more frequently. It also means more survivability with fast Diamond Skin and Frost Nova refreshes, which in turn means more dps against frozen targets with Cold Blooded. If you have Diamond Skin with the Diamond Shards rune, that in turn gives you even more dps. :D

I really wish we got pick up radius as part of paragon level so I didn't need to waste a gear slot for it. It sucks entirely too much to pick up gold without it, and when you can get 1m a run you really should be picking it up.

Yeah, same here. Even 1 yard every 10 levels would be a god send for me. Right now I'm wearing a Witching Hour belt I found with 6 yards and over 10k bonus to health globes/potions and boy is it great. Took a huge hit in my EHP though.

edit: Just found a really nice ring: 146 Int, 72 Vit, 5.5% crit hit, 33% crit damage, 201 armor and some str for good measure. Better than the ring I had before I got the Hellfire Ring, but slightly worse than the rare one I have on now. I imagine the EHP boost is incomparable though. I really like attack speed though, so idk if ill ever wear this as a primary ring. We'll see.

If you guys are forming an uber group I would be interested as well. I've got a 140K unbuffed barb. My tag is SnakeDoc#1677, but I'll make sure to add you too.

I'm also interested in a uber group. Have 1 machine so far and trying to get more keys.

Mine is Xilikon#1968 with a 125k unbuffed DH (Hungry arrow using a sentry).

Nom nom nom.. Not sure if appropriate.

My wizard was first made as a CM wizard after noticing how useful such builds are for the rest of the party. After the Energy Twister skill's proc coefficients were drastically reduced, I switched to a two hand build. I broke 100k unbuffed DPS not too long ago. The trek to 200k unbuffed DPS is going to be a long and very expensive one.

Is this game worth picking up ? I see it on sale for $39 now.

My two Brothers and I loved D2 back in the day, looking to maybe pick this, and all play together. How can the three of us play together in CoOp mode through the single player game ? How do we going about setting that up, and play together ?

You'll get polarizing answers asking if the game is worth it. I will say that it is much improved over release. There are a lot more features in place than were available at launch. Co-op is easy to set up. One person makes a game, and then it's literally as simple as your brothers clicking on that person's name to join the game.

Scroll back a few pages and you'll realize I still play.

I think someone could write a Thesis on the economy of diablo 3. Since the beginning and especially 1.05 prices for all items have been dropping. Items worth millions before are sometimes not worth listing. To me I feel that the 1.05 effect of item saturation has, for the most part, run its course. This means that that crit/critD tal's ammy I've been gunning for isn't going to get any cheaper.

On the other hand, the influx of gold into the overall economy has increased dramatically with 1.04 (paragon) and 1.05 (mp and easier inferno access). Because of this, inflation will drive prices higher. I believe that the inflation rate will overcome the saturation rate soon, and 10mil+ items will get more expensive.

Of course this is all guess, I'm not going to bet on it. I just found it interesting. I'm not going to turn playing th AH like a stock market, I'll buy whatever I want at the time I can afford what I want. I could be losing millions by not playing the market, but personally I don't care since I don't find banking on AH flips fun.

Well I see the economy as this for a new D3 player to get a set of gear that just hit 60 and aren't a Barbarian.

Inferno-0 500,000 scrap all old gear.
Inferno-1 1.2mil + previous tier gear
Inferno-3 3.5mil + previous tier gear
Inferno-5 120m? Haven't been there but have been glancing at the AH for stuff to get there.

These prices will continue to plummet as the stuff to get into Inferno 1 - 2 doesn't sell for much. Inferno 3 is when you need to find gloves with attack speed, crit chance and crit damage. The stuff with that trinity on them but weak stats otherwise will stabilize. Anything above that will rise in price in anticipation of the PvP patch.

In short you're going to end up with a market where the low end gets so cheap that it's easier to vendor those items. The higher end items will soar in price in anticipation of PvP. PvP will finally make the game into a competition amongst the player base. Right now there isn't much to compete for other than reddit views on your thread about how awesome your gear is or your youtube video showing your 15 second boss kill.

I could say that I farm MP10 like a boss today and nobody could dispute me as there isn't even an achievement for it. Well at least none that I've seen.

The only problem I have with the game is how repetitive all the fights got to be.

mp10 ubers with 3 of the other [H] members. I'd say it went swimmingly, but we died a few times. I died more than I liked as a monk. We did triumph in the end, and I got to make another fail Hellfire ring.

I also got to witness first hand how crazy good barbs are in mp10 ubers. Rdzona, I think it was, ate arcane and reflect like a boss. I, on the other hand,...ran away like a little school girl.

I also learned that Mahgda is a real bish...and that she has 5000000 increased attack speed when enraged.

I can, however, proudly say that I can eat Ghom's poison, not that that is a big feat by any means.

mp10 ubers = prepare to die and eat humble pie unless you're a barb. Damn, I leveled 74 levels of paragon to realize I should've made a barb. Ah well. No turning back now. Must hit 100!

Chapter 6 has some very interesting tidbits.
-MF does not increase the total number of item drops, it will only change the distribution of White to Legendary items. MP on the other hand, does create extra item drops.
-MF has a very marginal affect on number of affixes in rares overall, contrary to what many believe. The distribution of rares (6 to 4 affix items) based on MF very well pictured in the second chart of Section 6.4.
-The exception is the NV5 bonus item drop. NV5 stack is accomplished by adding an extra item to the normal drop count of an elite pack. MF does affect the affix count distribution greatly in this scenario because 4 is guaranteed (the third picture in Section 6.4). Overall though, combining this with all the other drop rates from normal mobs, this still doesnt amount to a massive shift to more 6-affix items with higher MF. It just means you get more rares overall.

6.3 legendary theorycrafting. An important chart is the effect of MF on legendaries, and the probability that you can go 500 item drops(full act 3 clear) and have at least 1 legendary drop. As MF goes up, probability edges closer to 100%, though it can never reach 100%. 300MF looks close to 80%, meaning 80% of full act 3 clears will yield at least one legendary. NOTE: it is very important to not that this does not mean an average of .8 legendaries per full act 3 clear at 300MF.

Very cool! I'll have to read up!

I just realized something. It's about 5.5 billion xp for the last 25 paragon levels I have left.

For that price I think its defintitely worth picking up. Even people that dont stay have still liked the game for the first playthrough and you usually get your monies worth for that alone. Whether you continue on and put 500 hours into a char is a whole diff story and I guess it's like everything else. Some people do, and some people dont.

Yeah it was fun. We'll have to do more. Seeing as how we're not even halfway yet, I plan on wearing a Hellfire for quite awhile and how cool would it be to craft a trifecta ring. I think its kind of like an achievement or something since its like the only thing that you can't buy.

Servers are down for the count. In game message shows 6 hours, I'm hoping for at least 9. I got a good snipe bid on a really good tal's ammy. Hoping it goes through.

Sorry I can't read the link at work - but to clarify, is that 300MF prior to 5 stack NV?

The calculations on legendaries are based on a few assumptions. Beyond extra MF, NV is believed to have no extra effect on legendaries. This means that 300 MF no stack and 225 MF with 75MF from 5 stack will have the same probability of dropping at least 1 legendary after 500 item drops.

The extra benefit of NV is that at 5 stack an extra item is dropped from elites. So normally 500 items drop in an act 3 clear. If there are 20 elite packs, you'll get an extra 15 items that are at least 4affix rare, but have the same probability of being a legendary as any other item. The total item drops now for the act 3 run is now 515, which should bump the likelihood of getting at least 1 legendary per full clear by a slight amount.

This doesn't mean full clears are the best way to get legendaries, it basically comes down to what route has the highest item drop rate. It's likely alk's exp farming method is a good choice because of monster/elite density. It all comes back to killing speed. You can see the diminishing returns of MF on legendaries once you see the graph, more is always better, but if you sacrifice killing speed for MF or MP, your effective legendary drop rate might go down.

lol that would be so fuckin hilarious. Someone puts up an item for like 2000 bid, 1 billion buy-out, someone bids 3000 and the servers go down =P

Hmm, you're conflicting. I know that the NV, other than the extra MF, won't effect legendary drops. However I was wondering if the 300 MF giving an ~80% chance at 500 drops was referring to 300MF prior (gear/paragon) to getting 5 stacks, or was inclusive of the extra MF you get from 5 stacks.
