Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Probably ilvl 61, which is where gear starts requiring level 60 to wear (that's the rule of thumb for the other end-game crafting mats).

Edit: Just found my 2nd Witching hour, Pretty good rolls on it: 91 Int, 8 IAS and 49% crit damage in terms of DPS. It also has pickup radius that i desperately need lol. An 18k DPS boost for me, but my survivability will fall through the floor If I swap them out. Gonna think about what to do with em.

That dev post about new recipes doesn't sound like anything I'd bank on buying brimstones about. It doesn't sound like anything near future

No chance the resist all is half about what it can be at max. 200 million for sure though.

Wow really? I thought it was just in the 50-90 range. If its the 9 figures, then I'll have to look to trading forums to sell it. Right now I'm keeping it and sold my old one. But if this belt is that high, I'd rather sell it, buy a lower model belt again, and buy a tal's ammy at the same time.

You have max IAS, nearly max crit, main stat + vit, all res + physical res. The pricing difference for each of those mods jumps up exponentially. Like if you look at the price differences between 8% and 9% it's pretty big. Gotta love those perfectionists with deep pockets :p:D

I've decided I'm going to start playing a WW Barb. I've had my barb sitting at 60 for a while, and I've been working on my DH. But it seems like gearing the Barb for solo MP stuff is the way to go. So it's time to upgrade him!

I'm going to use this guide: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6471798208

What do you guys think? Which would be better to upgrade for solo MP farming. Note: I'm poor as all heck. I usually have between 200,000-600,000g, so either character is going to take time to gear up.

I tried this a while ago. before 1.5 and it didnt work. Unless you picked up the legendary while farming I was never able to destory an AH legendary for a brimstone. I was poor and needed gold. heh.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/frostburn-gauntlets It salvages into Brimstone. I have salvaged legendaries from the AH for Brimstone before.

But yeah, I saw last night that Frostburns were going for 65K minimum - exactly what Brimstones were going for at the time. When I had this idea a few weeks ago (when I was actually looking for a pair of Frostburns) I noticed that the minimum was 15K - the going rate for Brimstones at the time.

Noticed that as well. Since last week, if I find a legendary and that the majority is asking for the price of a brimstone or brimstone +10-15%, I'll salvage instead of selling it. Like that, I can stack a few brimstones and sell it in a single slot instead of taking a few slots with useless legendaries.

I sold 5 brimstone for a average price of 58k each yesterday (3 of them are from items I found selling for under 20k before the brimstone price bump).

My barb is 57 now :D

so much more fun than monk... Spin to win.

Loving furious charge + rend right now too.

From what I've heard (no full evidence to back this up), Wizard's paperdoll's dps in inflated to effective dps, so it doesnt scale the same as seeing a Warrior or Monk's paperdoll to effective.

Was playing with my friend's alt wizard earlier. I wonder if their Storm Armor (EDIT: with Shocking Aspect rune) skill is working as intended. Every time I crit on my monk, the lightning would strike an enemy even if my friend playing his wizard didn't attack. We tested this quite a bit and it does strike every time I crit.

Also, paragon 70 finally. 80 next week. That's the goal anyway.

My WD has been the target of all my upgrades/paragon, and he's a hoover vacuum farming low MP. But I have a barb sitting at 60 that I want to gear up to do solo ubers (WD sucks at ubers, it's sad). About how much gold would it cost to gear a barb to be able to do ubers at MP 5/6 solo? Any idea? Or target DPS/lifesteal? Thanks.

HC 87% and I just killed Belial.

Gratz on the HC kill. You have more cajones than I do. I guess that's the thrill of HC, perma death. I don't think I could do that.

I hear WDs actually rock in ubers for globes.

As far as barbs, get LS on your belt and at least one weapon. Crit damage on both if you can afford it. Even better if they have crit and open sock. Offhand should be a fast attack weapon; daggers have innate fast attack speed. I'm guessing you want to spin to win. In this case, if I'm not mistaken, Whirlwind damage comes from main hand only.

Starting to feel the hurt of Reflects Damage, even for my CM Wiz build now. I got some pretty nice upgrades recently, putting me at 140k DPS, but my EHP is in the gutter now. My Archon build with the same gear is almost 160k DPS, which is pretty cool. Gonna need to get Zunimassa's boots for the set bonus and damage bonus. I don't have a black weapon to make full use of it though, but its better than nothing.

I also love how, now that I can handle MP7 farming, the freaking Act 2 keywarden (most annoying warden by far for me) didn't drop a key 3 times in a row -_-!!

Have 200m, can't decide what to upgrade. Any thoughts?

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/tehslippery-1869/hero/12030656

I'd drop the Unity and get a better ring. Average damage, dex, crit %, crit damage, resist all/single res/or both, vita. I'd also look for better gloves. Yea, the gloves have nice res, but that 20% crit dam is on the low side. I know mine only have 29%, but I also don't have 200 mill. lol. Could prob find better boots with higher dex/vita too.

Also, my profile on b.net probably reflects my paragon farming gear, which is to say that I'm actually wearing an Inna's Radiance. I hate that hat. Also, my damage ring is in the stash so I can wear the crappy Hellfire I have.

I agree with Harkamus about your rings/boots. If you can swing it, I'd actually recommend Natalya's Bloody Footprints and Natalya's Reflection. To get good versions of both they are expensive.

A 170-185 dex + 70 vit set of Bloody Footprints will run about 30M, if you want a double dex version (220~+) then those go over 100M. They also auto roll with 70-80AR and 12% run speed which is always nice.
Natalya's Reflection auto rolls with 8-9 Attack Speed and dex. Those are cheap (4-5M). To get one with crit damage, those go for 30-40M. For one with Crit hit those can easily reach 70M. For a trifecta, expect 200M+ (there is always some dork selling them for 2B... ignore those).
In addition the set bonus is the reason to go for both, which is +7% crit hit. Between the two, provided you get ones with good rolls, and the set bonus, you can get a massive damage increase.

I also noticed your life/vit is really low. If you can, I'd buy another set of Inna's Temperance with 170-200 vit rather than stacking fire res (which I do realize is your choice for "One with everything"). The 170+ vit is going to carry you a lot farther than the 28 AR your current pair is giving you.

Yea, he can get a Lamentation for 300k or less. It has 1% crit, all res, and up to 3% life steal. Also has barb specific stuff since it's a mighty belt. Or he can get an IK belt for prob just slightly more, but I'd say the Lamentation is better unless he's got other IK pieces.

Picked one up for 35k :D

Went with blood thirst as well, have 5.9 LL now. I'm still in Act 4 hell with this char, so need to farm some $$ as well.

It's crazy how fast he roll through mobs, 59.5 crit chance. If I add Blood Funnel and some vit gear, he'll be a life leach machine :D

Yea, I've been bidding on Nat boots off and on for a while because I do plan on getting the 2 set. That's also why I really haven't gone on a ring much, because I'd like to get a good nat ring.

My hp is definitely low, but honestly it isn't really a problem for me. The only time I ever really die is if I'm not paying attention on reflect. I generally farm on MP4 because I pretty much plow through everything. Ubers generally mp7-8 in a group with Barb/DH/1 misc.

We'll see what happens over the next day or two with some of the stuff I'm bidding on

WW Barb is so OP....

With just under 2 mill spent, I have him at 55% crit chance unbuffed, 414% crit damage, 550 AR, 6.2k armor, 9% Life steal, 600 LPS and even some LOH thrown in for good measure, 59k DPS

Monkey form + ToC = can't die, never run out of fury. Farming on this build is probably 3-4x faster than on my monk, with monk having better equipment.

Monk is not the fastest farmer. Agreed. That said, I get roughly 45-50 million XP an hour without Tempest Rush.

Mmmmmokay. Well you asked what to spend your money on, that's how I would spend it. Even if you bought lower end versions of all that I listed, it would boost your DPS significantly and still be in your budget.

EG:
Natalya's Blood Footprints: 170~ Dex + 70 Vit = 30M
Natalya's Reflection: 9% IAS, 35-45% Crit dmg, 50+ Vit = 50M OR 9% IAS, 5-6% Crit for 70-100M
Inna's Temperance: 9% IAS, 170+ Vit = 60-70M

That leaves you with money left over, and later if you want to you can upgrade to better versions like a 220+ dex footprints, or a trifecta reflection. But getting these "lower versions" of things will still be a massive step up.

How do you guys get so much $$$?

Playing the game and getting lucky. That's all it takes. I think over the course of leveling paragon, most people will find enough stuff they can flip on AH to net them at least a few hundred million. I've had a dry spell for item finds for a few weeks, generally only finding low stuff that sells for ~1-10 million. However, I just found a pair of gloves that could potentially net me over 150. That said, I'm also paragon 71, so I've had a lot of play time. Generally, I tell people that drops will come over time. The nature of the RNG beast dictates as much. Sooner or later, you will find something. I don't really care too much if stuff drops or doesn't right now, since I'm wanting to hit 100.

How do you guys get so much $$$?

Time and farming. I used to think it was impossible to catch up, I didn't start until 1.0.4 and even at that time 1.0.5 had already been announced. The short story: it is possible to catch up, but you have to play a lot.

The long view of D3, is trying to level a lot to gain paragon levels and consequently increasing your base magic find. Max out the magic find on your preferred follower and play on the highest Monster Power you can without dying more than 1-3 times per run (part of that is skill, part of that is gear). Once you get to around 300 MF between paragon, MP, MF on your follower, and Nephalim Valor stacks, legendaries and things of the like start to drop with predictable frequency.
Of course you'll get a lot of garbage drops (we all do) but if you're smart with cash, you can make 10M here, 10M there surprisingly quickly. Every once in a while you'll get a 30M-50M and get boosted up faster.

Next, don't get discouraged. RNG suuuuuuucks. From paragon 40-46ish I got a total of 1 trash legendary, which is of course out of the statistical norm. There will be times like that, 4-5 levels of grinding with no decent drops can be demotivating. But if you like playing your character anyway, then it's a non issue. You're still leveling, and still picking up 2k gold pickups and vendoring etc. That period was really slow for me, but I still was able to make half a mil per day just from picking up gold and vendoring. Then on the other hand RNG can just go nuts in your favor. I got 9-10 Legendaries at level 50, once I got 7 drops in a single run (I killed every mob in Act 3 that game... I heard of things like that happening, but thought it was hog wash... it actually does happen). So keep playing is tip 2. You have to be patient and wait for RNG to go in your favor.

The only other piece of the puzzle is that if you're really serious about gearing up and playing well, you have to dedicate all your money to one character. I have all 5 classes leveled to 60, but I only play one, and I only gear one. You might get a piece of gear that's awesome for another character you have, but you have to make the decision to sell it so your one and only character can move up. Consequently your one and only character can will get geared faster and be able to move up in MP level more quickly which will give you greater EXP and MF.

I am not uber rich myself, but I probably have around 200M or so in gear. Doing that I found really, like I said, you can do it. Just takes time. The most I ever had at once was 130M. I thought that was impossible too, but surprisingly it only took about 2 weeks. Obviously the drop rate at that time was in my favor, and once again, I was playing a lot. I was stuck at 50M for a big period of those two weeks, and then it surged again near the end.

Also, if anyone wants to farm/level together which is basically all I do right now, feel free to add me: Jeremiah#1810. I play MP5, Act 1-3 (to mix it up). Each of my runs I generally do 5 stacks, key run, and last 1-2 bosses, in addition to several elite heavy areas. I would love to play with any other class than me (for diversity... it really helps.) I am a DH. Just say something about the [H] in your add request.

I'd agree if I could get the things you are talking about at those prices, especially the ring. I've never seen one go remotely that cheap with 5+ crit

You're right, I rechecked prices, they're up on it. Probably around 160-200M... which is overpriced I think. The price is right on the crit damage variation though. Two stat is still quite good, and I wouldn't call it settling. You can get a crit hit version later.

I only get to play 5-6 hours per week :(

Well, I hate to say it, but then it may be impossible for you. This game either forces you to play a lot or put in a lot of money. However, that's only necessary if you're trying to get top tier etc. You absolutely DO NOT need to do any of this stuff just to have fun with the game.

Getting fully geared is the competitive component, not the fun component.

EDIT: Whoops.... I posted twice in a row... argh, sorry. I would delete and merge if I could through editing. Hope that doesn't bother anyone else too much, always bugs me.

After buying Immortal King's Gloves and Immortal King's boots, my last two set items that I found were... Immortal King's Gloves and Boots. Not that I am complaining, just random.
