Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Because that's the point of the end-game: farming better equipment. If you just buy all of that, what are you going to do then? There is nothing else. so.... pointless?

So you can brag and conduct yourself like that spastic retard, Athene, or whatever.

I remember when I bought a few items on eBay. I think this was shortly after LoD came out, and I think I was 12-13 years old. I got a hold of my mom's credit card :)eek:) and bought an occy ring for $18 and a few ancient swords for around $15 each. Needless to say, I got my ass kicked hard for that.

Later I started getting into duping, and even programmed a series of simple bots. They were named Shrine-It, Dupe-It, etc that would supposedly give you unlimited shrine duration, let you dupe, etc. The end-user would put in their account/password in the .ini file and when they ran the bot, it would whisper me their info. I then had other bots which would go into random games and spam the website to find these bots. In the matter of weeks, I had every item I could ever dream of and tons of characters full of items (characters full of hex charms, etc). Sometimes when I logged on their accounts, their friends would ask if I could help transfer items for them. Of course I would accept, and then take the items they were attempting to transfer. That was around 9-10 years ago though before you could even link e-mails to your account, and I would never do that again since I actually have morals now. Brings back some fun memories though, and it's fun to tell.

Yes, I was a digital scumbag in my pre-teens. :(

You big jerk!!

(very inventive though!! :))

ok, has anyone actually sold anything yet in the real money auction house? If so, how much $$ did you make?

It's not letting me set up my paypal account, but I've only thrown things up there for 3-4 dollars so far.

Would someone actually pay $250 for a level 60 item? If so, I'm going to be rich within days.

Yea, it won't let me set up paypal either. I started 10 auctions for minimum start to 3$. I figure I'll go volume over individual price.

Exactly. You buy all the best gear...then what? That the WHOLE POINT of the end game, getting gear! I swear, I cannot fathom the level of stupidity these people must possess. Even WoW I can sort of understand buying stuff. It's social, you want to show off...for whatever reason. But Diablo, really? Its like buying a trophy instead of running the race and actually winning one. You've accomplished nothing.

it sucks that i cant sell on the rmah. not only does it need SMS protection on the account, it requires a phone thats tied to a regular contract. no VOIP numbers, no Google Voice, and no prepaid phones.

Thats kind of sucky, im sure my bro will help me out though.

If I fix my shit, another thing will break.

You are missing the point. I have more important things to do with my time then bitch about something trivial like the Mass Effect ending.

Hell I would rather argue with people to prove how ridiculous they are than actually bitching about things like a video game.

Being busy with real life issues is apparently not impeding you from whining about anyone who has an opinion about Blizzard (and its products) that you don't like, so what exactly is your point?

So wait, in order to use the RMAH, you MUST have a cell phone/contract? even if you use paypal it seems you need some kind of cell phone msg system.

Sigh, Blizzard not understand everyone int eh world doesn't have a cell phone/want one?

sold

the amulet my WD runs around with that I'm not selling. Losing USD but I like playing my WD more than making USD.

Yes, sort of.. You must have a smartphone to use Blizzard generator software or buy the external one.

I was really turned down by the fact that Blizz doesn't support Google Voice number, and I didn't want to set up my original one because I get charged for SMSs. But if you have a smartphone, you are good to go.

i have an item sold/pending for 7.65 after fees. my first RMAH sale awww how cute.

theres more to it than that

to use the RMAH your account requires 2 forms of protection. an authenticator (smartphone app or the physical one) AND it requires SMS protection. when you go to list, at random, they send you an sms code that you have to enter to verify the account,

why they dont offer this over land line, i dont understand. i can kind of understand not sending the code through email, in case the account is compromised. but not sending an automated land line call? theres no real reason not to have this as an option.

Popped up my Stormshield on the RMAH for $250 for shits n' giggles while I'm sitting here at work. It's the only one with a good block and dex, and I don't play anymore (aside from the AH), so no real loss if it doesn't sell. :)

Going to be interesting to see how the prices turn out. Wonder how much gold prices will fall. A friend of mine was making $300-400/day this past week before prices went down the shitter.

Holy fuck, my Stormshield just sold. It was down to like 1d 5h too, I didn't think it would sell, cool.

is there a limit at how many items you can sell at once @ RMAH? like the regular auction house was 10 items at a time

Right now D3 is dead to me, input limit reached (I left one game... cause I lagged and couldnt do anything). RMAH affecting gold AH.

What a waste of money for the CE.

Sold a couple junk rares for chump change to test out the waters. This will be interesting. I think I'll use it to sell commodity items or simply just gold in the future. Just gonna wait and see what the market value will be.

I have to admit I don't understand Diablo 3. What is the point of continuing to play after your character has reached max level? There are no new environments, no new characters, no new plots. Everything stays exactly the same. I understand that it's fun to feel your character continuously get stronger through acquiring better gear. But for me that character development has to take place within a meaningful context - one that changes and shows me things I haven't seen before. Correct me if I am wrong but once you have gotten all the runes for each ability you have basically seen the whole game. There will not be a single new environment or plot for the entire rest of your gaming time (maybe that cartoon level?).

So you buy a great sword on the AH. Then you go back into the same place you were before, fight the same enemies with the same graphics except they might have better stats. Until their stats are too high for you. Then you have to go back to the AH to buy an item with higher stats so you can do the same thing over again.

I could see Diablo 3 being fun if, say, on Nightmare you could choose to side with Belial and on Hell you could go to a Jungle for Act 2 instead of the desert, and on inferno you could kill Tyrael, travel to heaven, and have a different adventure there, etc...

Honestly not trying to troll. I played through once and had a blast. It's a great game the first time through no doubt. How anyone gets through it a second time is beyond me.

Well in D2, dueling was a big part of continuing to want to play. Since D3 doesn't have PvP yet, there isn't much else besides continuing to gear your character up through grinding.

Game Creation Limit - Updated

10:00 PM PDT- After looking into some reports from players it seems the limit may have not been working exactly as intended. Working properly you really shouldn't see it, even in fairly normal 'farming' conditions, or reasonable amounts of character swapping. We're shutting off the limitations off until we can take a better look at it tomorrow.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've recently added a limit to the number of games a player can create within a certain amount of time. Players who hit this limit will see the error: "Input limit reached. Please wait to perform more actions." After receiving this error, you will need to wait approximately 10 to 15 minutes before creating any additional games.

This change was made to help reduce server strain and improve overall game stability, and we'll continue to monitor the situation and make additional improvements as necessary. We're currently working to find a solution that allows most players who are playing normally to create games without encountering this error, but will still limit some of the more extreme cases of rapid game creation. We appreciate your patience as we make these adjustments.

Thank you!

You know what would be neat is if dueling worked like Magic The Gathering where each contestant must put into the pot a randomly selected item. The winner would get his item back and get to keep the loser's item. Because you wouldn't get to pick which item was put into the pot, there would some serious tension.

5usd / hour is a very respectable income for a young man in China. My cousin is an analytical chemist and basically makes that.

Honestly speaking though, with the current gold floor at $2.50 per million, all someone has to do is bot on 5 accounts at around 400,000g per hour in order to make $5 an hour (before cuts obviously). I'm thinking people that are botting 10+ accounts or more have the potential to make lots of money, but it all depends on how popular the game is going into the future.

One reasons is elite packs and champion packs are essentially different and use different affixes nd get more advanced with more affixes with more stats and "graphical" changes per affix and elemental.

Make no mistake, the champions you fight against in nightmare not the same as the ones in Hell and certainly no where near what they are in Inferno difficulty.

That is one of the more interesting aspects of the game. Not only are the different difficulties harder, but they are essentially things you havent seen before. And you have to learn tactics and strategies to overcome them -- as in inferno you MUST know how to play your character to survive.

There were 3 big things in Diablo 2 that constituted its "endgame", ie stuff to do after beating the hardest difficulty. Magic Finding, PVP, and Leveling. After patch 1.10, Diablo 2 leveling became extremely difficult. Getting passed level 95 required lots of effort. Not only that, but you could still be very good at level 85 or so, so leveling that far wasn't REQUIRED, but it still offered a time sink and felt rewarding. Another big thing was PVP. Diablo 3 has neither of these right now so the game is feeling pretty stale at the moment because all there is to do is magic find, and with the items being uninspiring, even that feels dull. Presumably leveling difficulty like post 1.10 D2 will never happen in Diablo 3, so really the only thing left to bank on is PVP.

I'm getting real annoyed at these constant maintenance windows. Why can't they drop half the servers or something? And rotate the half that are down to be like 4AM in the varoius timezones people play from.

I'm on vacation this week and about half the time I log in to play the servers are down. It's probably just dumb bad luck...But it's annoying. I logged in this morning to play and I got to play about 10 minutes before the servers went down for a 2 hour maintenance window. Since there's no offline play - that's frustrating. Guess I'll have to wait till tonight. Dumb cause I've got some free time to kill before the family goes to the beach...
