Diablo 3 Beta

And to address your, "it balances melee and magic", why not just make spells more powerful? Problem solved.

It's also an issue with scaling with speed on top of damage. Why introduce more mechanics like Spell cast speed when they can simply scale with weapon speed?

They've only had a decade+ to figure it out. And it worked fine in D2, imo. Again, I'm sure I'll love the game, but I don't like the decision to balance it this way.

Actually they have not had a decade to figure it out.

Diablo 3 has gone through two seperate development teams.

The current developers have only been working on the game for about 4 years I believe

Loaded this back up today to try it out and it still runs like crap on my computer.. It will be smooth then feel like it's only running 10fps then back up. I'm on a 750 quad @3.75ghz and a 7970 video card. It should run alot better then this. Any one else having the same issues?

I never said anything like that actually.

You're right, that was someone else, I apologize.

You were, however, talking about how it's pointless to wait for a $20 price drop because it's "only a few bucks" and apparently the notion of people not buying Diablo 3 was some non-existent concept to you.

I will say that complaining about complainers is just as bad, if not worse. If you don't like what people are saying you are free to go elsewhere.

you're in a diablo 3 beta thread. This is for people to discuss the beta. not complain about it. I'd suggest making a thread about why you don't like or wont buy diablo 3. If you'd like to have a discussion beyond 'it doesn't make sense' than I think everybody is for that. However it seems like you are the one that should go elsewhere considering the response you've received from most of the members posting in this section and your general negative / unkind responses.

Pretty sure complaining about a crappy beta/game is considered talking to most people. Just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean that they should be silenced.

It's possible that I didn't come off as clear as I thought.

I was merely trying to get the point across that Diablo 3's price will not drop significantly for a long, long time. Thus if you did want to play the game you would either be waiting a long time, or had to just fork over the cash. Which in my opinion is justified in this case.

I could go on to talk about how I think Torchlight is crap and not worth the current $15 tag and that Torchlight 2 would have to be a whole lot better to warrant even $20.

But yes. I do consider the trade off - "okay I can play more/full price now, and play the game I want to play now, or I can wait an undetermined amount of time to save some money.

In some cases it's not worth it to me. I would just rather play the damn game.

Again, I'm sure I'll love the game, but I don't like the decision to balance it this way.

Agreed.

I didn't know we couldn't talk about things that we didn't particularly care for in this thread. Blizzard fans are a bit crazy. I've said multiple times that I had fun playing the Beta, seems like a decent game. There are just some choices that have me going WTF.

At this point, I will buy it (but I'm gonna feedback my opinions to the devs)

Now, define cult. :D

"Discussion" is for discussion, good or bad. Sorry you don't like it.

And by "response you've received", you mean... from you? Pretty sure there were at least 3-4 other members with the same concern about the magic issue not making sense.

"Concern," eh? Interesting... Interesting choice of wording.

Holy shit, I think I feel stupider reading the past 20-30 replies to this thread. Why didn't I stop? Because it was like watching a train wreck. :D

My reason for wanting class specific weapons:

Diversity. I don't want to see sorcs running the same gear as barbs simply because of some arbitrary dps number. That's lazy game design.

Well, I'm sure DPS numbers will make a difference early in the game. I'm betting the system get's more complex, with more complex drops later in the game. Usually item drops aren't consistent from start to finish after all.

We've already said this. There ARE classic specific items.

Cool. I hope so too. Unfortunately they didn't feel this was important enough to elaborate on.

This is how i feel about it. I would rather have more stats to play with than fewer stats to play with. It's more to figure out and adds to more diverse builds.

I also will be buying, but think a lot of their design decisions are lazy.

Says who? How in the world do you discuss a beta anything without talking about things you don't like or think could be better?

All I see is complainception:
People complaining about complaining about complaining...

*When you get it, you'll sht bricks.

This thread needs Xzibit.

Little over two weeks left!

Now with 80% more sense.

Thanks for clearing that up. :D When I read it, I thought he was saying "Ehh I Played it (diablo Ill). [I suggest you] wait for Tochlihgt 2 lol."

I think that is what he meant...

Well, that he personally was not impressed with D3 and will wait for TL2, that is.

I liked Torchlight, but if the skill system is relatively the same, the D3 skill system blows it out of the water. I was skeptical at first, but the D3 skill system is simply...awesome. So many viable, unique possibilities. Really looking forward to it.

The skill trees in Torchlight were a bit anemic and not very interesting. Hope they fixed that this time around. Sure I'll pick it up eventually.

its been like this with blizzard for a long time (if you played wow you'd know). but hey their games are still better than most.

I played Eve (for like... 4 years), not WoW.

Complexity is king. Simplicity is boring.
