which drivers are you using?

i'm pretty sure i installed 4.1, in device manager it's the following driver

version: 6.14.10.6414
release date is 12/12/2003

like i said im not sure how you tell from the driver version code, anybody know how to do this cuz it'd be useful for telling what drivers are people are using on the 3dmark orb, sorry for spamming, pm me if anybody knows

Imp: Yes thats by design ... it renders as much as fast as possible which takes a lot cpu .. also having a high cpu load is good in cases where watercooling is used since higher cpu temp = higher water temp = higher gpu temp = artifacts earlier

6414 is 4.1 .. see the options page of video advanced properties .. says catalyst 4.1 there ..

now for some reason my vcore is below normal

:/

damn anyone know wuts going on?

What's it sitting at? I have run into the situations where a certain power supply might not be stable enough and OC's will fail/act up if the cpu vcore is moving too much.

One more reason never to skimp on the power end of things. I realise that Enermax isn't crap by any means but I've found Antec's Truepower PSU's to be both affordable, VERY quiet, and insanely stable/accurate.

w1z, when i go to "2d Profile (loaded on Startup)" i select default. because i have to before doing the 3d one.

after that, i go to 3d, and select a profile, and it says "Atitool has generated errors, and will be closed by Windows.

You will need to restart the program.

anybody else affected by this? try deleting the profiles.ini and see if the error goes away ... a crash address would help

i dunno, but for some reason i cannot get the hotkeys to switch the profiles.. all it does is beep at me and stay at the 3d profile

for sure, it's slowly being ironed out into its future, final state. Let's hope that it doesn't take THAT much longer and that it simply kicks ass when we get there.

i still get subsequent images do not match error and loads of yellow dots on clock detection but im pretty sure it's a problem with my comp and not the program. gonna do a full reinstalation in the next couple of days and hopefulyy that'll get rid of the problem. i'll post back with results when i do.

strange, make sure you get us the results.

well i cant figure this out for shit.

I've completely started again, formated my hard drive and discounected by back up one just incase there were any viruses lurking about on it. I've only installed drivers and sp1 and yet i still get an error saying

init of findmax: subsequent images are different please report this bug

i cant understand why this program wont work anymore when it used to work fine about a month ago

are you hear to complain about free software or here to tell us what the error message was?

Thankyou for this program. I like it a lot. Its a great time and effort saver for finding the max overclock.

Yea this is an awesome program....it just causes my computer to crash with my 9200SE....i guess that just gives me more of a reason to upgrade my vid card

As of 14 it works fine on my brother's 9000, 15 detected artifacts faster.
I haven't tried 17 yet.
Does it give an error message or just hang/reboot?

I had some problems on his 9000 with version 12 or 13, it would hang the system if I did much to it... That was about the time W1zzard was troubleshooting the 9000 problems.

could you define 'crash'?

computer restarted....and gave me a message when computer booted back up....."system crashed due to video adapted instability"

did this happen while searching for a max oc or just when running the app?

Props to W1z for staying active in the thread and offering ready support for ppl having troubles instead of letting them sit, mad. :)

when running max OC

on some cards - many 9500/9700s the core just crashes if you go beyond a certain frequency .. 1 mhz less and it works fine without any artifacts ... could you check if that happens on your card too?

OK before i wasnt able to run the program for more than 10seconds....but i update my drivers to the new 4.2...and i was able to run the program significantly longer...and achieve a whopping 270mhz core:D .....damn i need a new vid card

Holy shit dude.....no kidding.

You've got a rig like that with a POS 9200SE??? What's the matter???

I know.....when i built this rig....i was running short on cash and i just bought a card that would do a decent job until...the prices on like the 9800s would come down....and they have $180 since i built this rig.....:D

I've been told that ATi's (unlike Saphire's) Radeon 9700 AiW Pro is locked in the BIOS. Does this mean that this program will not work for me? when I used another program, I could set the clock speed, but when I reset my computer it went back to factory default. Did it ever really set my clock speed to what I wanted? Does this just mean that I have to reset the clock and memory speeds every time I restart my computer? Or do I have to flash the BIOS?

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, but I didn't feel like looking through a 35 page thread :p .

36 pages for me. ;) :p

If it's just a matter of re-applying the clock when you restart I wouldn't worry a whole lot. It could of course, become quite irritating very fast. I'd look around to see what you can find for a BIOS for your card to get around this if possible. If you can't.....at least you know what's up. ;)

The reason it does this is because the CPU/Memory speeds are not saved into the Video Card's BIOS, so the only way to get your overclocked settings to stay is to have a program like ATITool to run at startup so that it automatically overclocks the card when you start up.

There ya go.....it's as simple as that. Personally I don't like having OC programs "boost" my card on startup and I prefer to do it manually so I can see it being done but that's just me. ;)

Couldn't you theoretically just overclock the card from the display properties and tell it to boot at that clock? Then you wouldn't need a secondary program starting up to kick in the speeds.

increase the max overclock threshhold of overdrive. its currently locked at 523 and if you use radtweaker and suprpass that speed OVERDRIVE underclocked your rig back to 523

If you are brave enough you can make a copy of your BIOS and use a program (can't think of the name) and set the speeds you want to OC it to in it, and reflash with the new BIOS. That way you don't have to worry about a program running at startup to OC your video card.

It would be interesting to see that in action but I'm afraid it'd involve slightly more work then most people (including myself) would be willing to do.....just to keep their card overclocked after a reboot.

I'm sure there are several brave folks who are gonna give this a shot (if they haven't already) but it ain't for me. ;)

I have done this before on one of my friends 9800Pros and got it to go to 9800XT speeds, with no problems at all. But yeah it takes a little more knownledge than the average computer person knows :p
