Destiny - Discussion Thread

This is bullshit. There is content in there that I can not play simply because there is no way in hell I will have 10 hours of free time to do this. So I paid for something that I can not play? What the fuck?

To be fair, until WoW started the Raid Finder function, this was the story for just about every MMO ever. Yeah yeah, technically Destiny isn't a true MMO, but the point still stands.

Got my first 2 legendaries today...one of them was usable it had the stats I would prefer, but the other for a different class. so annoying

I seriously want to sell my PS4 after buying this game =( my god........ it has it's moments but the core game maybe if it was in 3rd person the catch and fetch missions Multiplayer is a insane joke.

The more I play this game, the more I'm glad I didn't buy a new XBone just for this......yikes.

I'm at a place where I need a fireteam, and there's only me.

I can't win with just me, so there I am.

This is going in the garbage.

Thankfully I have enough guys to run the story missions. Once I am done and one of my characters is level 20, this game is going straight for sale.

It was fun while it lasted but I simply cannot compete online with console pros in the crucible, I am bored out of my mind whilst doing a strike and there is literally nothing for me to do since the loot is so uninspired. It is a better rifle with more damage and that is it. Also btw, the loot you get is completely useless in competitive MP since we normalize for it so fuck you, you stupid ass grinder of gear lol.

Bungie needs a lot to learn. Not everything can be designed like Halo.

P.S. When you run on water nothing happens lol.

Yar, looks like Bungie's doubling the amount of public events. Looks like I'll head into some patrols tonight.

Hit the soft cap last night (mostly by playing Crucible), and it's looking like the gear grind is going to be a ... grind. I need to read about how normalization works at the higher levels, it seems to me that my gear bonuses (quick reload, etc) come into play.

I don't have tons of time to play so I'm only LVL 13 and am also curious how normalization works. I have a really hard time killing players over lvl 18 or 19 and annihilate anyone under lvl 9. Maybe the health and stats are normalized but the higher level players still have all the extra weapons and abilities. I wish they would have the matchmaking system put people closer to the same level together.

i don't think matches are normalized as we would think. i went into one at level 10 and got completely trashed - even aside from me being new to consoles i'd walk into an area and immediately get dropped. the mp looks like the same old thing though (like halo mp looked 10 years ago - small teams - ) so i pretty much don't even care about it.

Damage is normalized, perks are not. So high lvls still have advantages since all their perks still carry over. Ie triple jump, blink, better super charge etc.

Also, even though I'm a hunter (gunslinger since alpha) I want the blade dancer hard nerfed so people will go back to playing a regular class. Blade dancer is such easy mode it isn't even funny. I had to try it a few times just to see. Way too easy playing blade dancer compared to regular gunslinger.

All in all, the game is still keeping my interest and I know it will for a long time to come. Most of my friends are now gearing up for 6 man raids.

I think I might have hit the point where things are starting to get tedious...and it's only Level 12.
The whole "run here, hold square and then kill off waves of enemies until the ghost starts talking again" thing has worn thin. The Crucible is just like every other MP shooter.
The only things I've enjoyed lately are the group raid missions. Not sure I even care about all that "end game" stuff considering you're just getting stronger so you can play more.

Yar, I made it up to the 'Reef' in story mode, but couldn't really motivate myself to slog through the main story yet. It's been all Crucible for me (which I quite enjoy - for the most part). I've finally got my Sunsinger skills up to the point where I can actually help my team (Radiance bonuses affecting others).

I'm hoping that Bungie will introduce a gametype that has 6 vs 6 teams with team respawn enabled. I think that could get really intense. I enjoyed the 3 vs 3 with team respawn, but if one of your team drops (or they're terrible) the match becomes a slog. Having 6 vs 6 gives you some more leeway.

uhhhh.. so apparently i hit the max limit for glimmer (25000)

i didnt "farm" it or anything. im not sure what to do with it.

They might introduce dogfighting in a future $20 DLC pack.

Id be ok with dogfighting and maybe even sparrow racing but not fot 20 bucks lol. Its funny that people still complain about EA and their DLC policies when every single company is doing it now. Im soooo disapointed with bungie for this game, its probably the most disapointed i have ever been for a AAA game

While disappointing, I don't think this can touch Titanfall as far as disappointment goes. At least there's a game (repetitious as it may be) built around the arena mode.
Kinda sad that the first two major titles for this gen have been a letdown.

This is just dissapointing as if not more than titanfall. The fallout from this has been huge compared to titanfall, you see it EVERYWHERE. Even with the first raids being completed nobody sees an upside to the game or a reason to keep playing.

Even critically Destiny is faring 10 full points worse on metacritic than titanfall did. This is significantly more disappointing because of what was advertised, what was promised, the budge and the development timeline. Absolutely nothing about Destiny lives up to what everyone though it was going to be.

This game has a major identity crisis, its its not an MMO then why the hell do we have 10 hour raids that only premade groups can do and take HOURS to complete. Bungie doesnt even know what the hell to call this abomination of a game

Yar, it is. I'm trying to be optimistic about it because I plopped down $60 for the game (purchased digitally, of course), but it definitely does feel like a 'work in progress'. The last time I paid full price for a new release was Mass Effect 3 (which I really enjoyed).

This is an interesting read:

http://www.gamesradar.com/if-youre-...ity-or-level-cap-you-dont-understand-destiny/

I've not played the game so I can't really comment but does any of the stuff in that article matter? Do the systems/synergies between buffs/equipment etc. really matter?

From what I've heard the actual gameplay itself/level design is pretty average.

Genuine questions so those who are playing, please shed some light. I was going to get either XBone or PS4 for this but given some of the early impressions I'm kinda over it and am experiencing Borderlands (2) for the first time too so that's keep me busy for the time being.

Spot on with this. Destiny to me is >>> Titanfall and always will be. I already have a few friends lined up for Raids once we hit level 26!

Also, there is a site that tracks your guys' information -- it's pretty neat!

Here is mine:

That guy's editorial makes sense (albeit smothered in rainbow and sunshine), basically the game isn't over at level 20. Which could be said for any MMO game worth its salt (endgame content is what will keep players in it for the long run). So far, the end game content in Destiny feels like a continuation of the leveling grind (and not the fun type of character progression I've experienced with other endgame focused games).

I'm planning on really delving into the weapon/attribute system and start to work on a 'build'.

That raid was not a continuous 10 hours. These Raids last a week long. You can leave and then come back at any time to continue game play.
DF-1, you need to go to the Decrypter NPC and buy crap from him to level your Rep with him. The higher the rep, the better your items will decrypt at leading to legendary items.

oh. I thought it meant that what he SELLS to me would be a higher level.

thanks for the info, will do!

side note: i got the salvage PvP mode bounty again... what a waste

the point is that it is a 10 hour raid, That is 100% an MMO mechanic, they say its not an MMO but they add shit content like this that is 100% inaccessible to 80% of the population and say that is the main purpose of the end game or at least the biggest part of it. If its not an MMO at the point then Bungie is 100% clueless

First thing they need to add to this game is voice comms my god does it ever need it when I'm playing crucible solo.

I hate being killed by a hunter super. then someone come in and try to res me running right into the a blade dancer super, Can't even warn teammates about places/people to avoid without voice com

Also add in the fact that there seemingly is no real reason to want to raid other than to say you did it. As far as we know there are no Unique drops in raids, there are no items that you can only receive in raids, the bosses do not drop higher level gear than you can get outside of the raids, the mobs same story. There is 0 real motiviation to raid if you want gear, It is nothing but a horribly executed mess of a game right now. The design decisions they made are just flat out baffling like they ignored all the mechanics current successful MMO's use and they based all their market research on vanilla wow time period.

vanilla wow time period.

You're right. Just take that vanilla wow idealogy, throw in a dash of activision, and you'll have an idea of what to expect from this game:

-Untested Raid released
-world first kills through bruteforce or exploit
-devs take feedback from high end players and nerf/fix it to the point where idiots can beat it
-Rinse/Repeat

+PLUS+
-"new expansion" every 3mo
-slight power creep each expansion, slowly putting non-expansion players behind significantly
-new pvp maps to segment community
-eventual micro-transaction boosts if no major media backlash (consumables already exist, you don't expect them to add pay ones?)

I'm having a hard time advancing I'm a lvl 13 titan right now. Every mission is beyond my abilities. Takes a whole mag to kill one simple enemy. 10+ enemies on screen and i'm probably not going to make it if theirs a "heavy". Multiplayer? Unload whole clip and barely damage them. Hit me 2-3 times or punch me just once and I'm dead. Everyones weapons are better than mine even lower levels. I don't care to much for the multiplayer but it seems I have to play it to advance so I can lvl up and continue the campaign. What am I doing wrong?

Have you been upgrading your equipment and/or working on your various reputations?

You're doing everything wrong. Play missions that are recommended for your level or lower. When you level up, you move on to a harder mission. In the multiplayer, you don't need to unload a whole clip to kill someone. Aim for the head or use shotguns up close. Also, get better.

I dunno about the PvE stuff (my issue is mostly trying to stay awake during them - this game's PvE story missions are basically the 'Library' level from Halo on repeat), but for the PVP stuff you might want to find yourself a pulse rifle and hang back behind your team's lines and practice with that. It seemed to reward me with a lot of kills on lower levels until I got myself a nice autogun with a large clip.

Also, pick up the PVP bounties, especially the ones where it's 'Complete 5 Clash missions'. It doesn't matter if you win or lose them as long as you play the entire match you get a point towards your bounty completion and handing in those bounties brings in a lot of XP.

Oh, and stay away from enemy blade hunters - they're crazy powerful and haven't been nerfed yet.

A mission that is the same lvl as me is too hard now. Before I had no problems finishing a mission that was 1-2 lvls above me but now I just die over and over again in the same spot.I have been upgrading my equipment\armor and switching to the better stuff as soon as I get it. The thing with multiplayer is that I am getting headshots. I will melee someone they don't die but then they melee me and i'm dead even when i'm full health and i've already shot them a few times. I haven't worked on reputation. I also filled my bounties with multiplayer crap when the crucible became available at lvl5? and just now looked up how to remove them so I can start doing other bounties which is probably whats screwing me since i'm trying to stay away from multi. I'll look for the e Complete 5 of this or whatever easy bounties to help me advance.

edit: Though I would mention my auto gun only holds I think 24 rounds so I dump the mag pretty quick.

You're doing something completely wrong then. Are you not taking cover when shields go low? Are you not actually hitting your target?

Do some patrol missions and level up. Or do the strike on Earth one more time to level up as well. Finally, can opt for MP with a shotgun. You can get nice kills with 2 rounds to the ass and one punch to the face.

Also son, you don't grind so you don't level. This is an MMO shooter even if Bungie denies it.
