So day 1 patch...is that downloaded during preloading I wonder? If not its going to be a shit storm with everyone downloading it at the exact same time for those who bought it digitally
 
Did anyone else who bought the game digitally ont he ps4 have their download like go super fast/take just a minute?

I assumed the game would take a while, it shows up as using 21gb of HD space on my system but no way in hell did it download that much that fast or even a few gb.

Then it downloaded like a 298mb "update" and that was it.

However I DID have the Beta still installed on my ps4, I wonder if having it installed it will use that and just patch/update that to the retail version? That might be how it was so fast.

I didnt play beta on the PS4 and it did seem to download extremely fast...idk seems odd

HDTV interpolation to the rescue! (Its the only why I can play it to be honest... No noticable input lag on my Samsung...)

This should have been a PC game IMO. There's still hope of a port, or so I've heard...

Honestly I think Bungie wasn't going for a big graphical push. I mean yea they are nice but its more about atmosphere than raw graphical output.

Plus they are already very comfortable with 30 fps thanks to Halo. People begged them to bump up Halo to 60 fps for years and it is possible but they ignored that in favor of better graphics and 30 fps.

60 fps was likely never in the cards. And they obviously don't show any care to what Microsoft wants so I doubt they made 30 fps standard out of a "kindness" to them.

You can login now....and download SIXTEEN FUCKING GIGABYTES.

The entire point of "pre loading" is to you know....download most of the game so you can play as soon as it is available....

Guess I got to wait til in the morning now.
 
im guessing this game wouldn't be great for someone who's not really able to play online?

I'm on an oil rig for work -- and while I CAN tether my Xbox One to my verizon hotspot on my phone, I really don't want to blow through gigs and gigs of data for this game... hence any console games I play tend to be solo/singleplayer.

Thoughts? From everything I've read the "meat" of this game is all about online play.
 
You can't play the game at all offline. For that reason it's bargain bin material for me. The mmo crap is way to hyped up for its own good.

well that solves that -- was going to pick it up in a day or two when I make a trek into the nearest "populated' town.

If you go for headshots during the tutorial you'll get your first 25-kills achievement before you hit level 2.

you would be wrong in that regard...assuming you mean without significant graphical fidelity loss.
 
I'm level 3 playing the level 4 mission where you end it by shooting up a server. This is a fairly lengthy multi-step mission, I'm at the very very end when... "Lost connection to a partner service" ... and I'm booted and will have to redo it. I quickly checked and no, my internet connection is still fine.

I think I'm done for today.

EDIT: Actually it saved my progress, I could resume from the start of the 'Darkness area'. Praise Jebus.

The majority of metacritic reviews are neckband pissed about one thing or another. Common theme of the meta critic reviews...30fps lock & not on PC so I just toss those out. The other common theme that worries me though are those complaining about repetitiveness.

Was really hoping for a game where me and the crew can sit down and play together, Ala borderlands, and have a good time doing so. Might hold off on picking it up for a bit to see what the guys say.
 
One thing that I'm liking is that it looks like the level cap is really easy to reach (within a few hours), and from that point it's all about equipment progression, etc.
 
I might goto Gamestop at 9 or 10 whenever they open and pick it up see if I can get addicted to the game. Metacrtic is right like half of the time basically a staple for game ratings that developers hate like don't crit our game.

Any way, I read if you bought the game on the 360 you could get a digital download on the XBone for free? ( I'm on the fence about buying an XBone) Is that true or was I dreaming this?

Second, how is the game anyway? Worth the hype?

I'll give my honest review when I get back from Gamestop =) They had it at Walmart last night but I don't like the guy working in electronics and my pregnant boss wants me fired.

The game looks like it could be fun, but not sure if I would actually buy it. Seems similar to Borderlands and I was never really interested in that.
 
I'm in Da Club girl working there was new well she used to work at Walmart she rolled her eyes when I said that word. She is a really nice girl hope she has a few good years working at Gamestop but the turnover rate for that place is worse then a cold Hot Pocket. Installing system software right now before I can play =)

It can theoretically do 1080p 60fps with Unreal Engine 3 and older engine games, but a modern engine CryEngine3 / UE4 / Frostbite game at their "max" visuals, no way in hell.

It says digital edition but I think I read that once you register the game to your account that counts as well.

I hope this is the case because I didn't see anywhere on the 360 where you could download it at. I was planning to pick it up for the 360 since my friends are still playing on that and upgrading it the one to play with my friends that have it on that.

Am I wrong in thinking that will be how it works?

It definitely can, and many games do, however there is a graphical trade off needed to do that.

Destiny on PS4 doesn't even look that great, so either the game engine isn't very good or they just neutered the game to have 30fps parity with the XBox One and PS3/360.
