Destiny 2

I just hope the game is more fun than work and it looks better than the beta did my eyes kinda strained this week either because I played too much Beta or didn't dim it down to the recommended.

FOV makes a huge difference for me.

It’s kind of why I can’t play Warframe for long- even the widest setting, supposedly 78 deg vertical FOV (110 h FOV). Maybe it is just the third person (which I didn’t like those supers either) camera, I can’t play those with KBM.

Playing with keyboard and mouse is possible but with the way the map design is lets say you jump in the air pressing the spacebar someone is shooting from behind
how do you turn around fast enough without having to press another key to save your life? I just like the controller better for games like this plus you can use that cool destiny circle to select your character and the map destination mode. Just feels more like Destiny the best part of the game is just figuring stuff out and finding new stuff that is hidden by the developers.

What? I am very confused by your question.

The controller just physically does stuff better for this game except for maybe aiming faster.

Faster and more accurately (at least if the over-active aim-assist is toned down). Mouse and keyboard also lets you react faster and more smoothly. Though, I've honestly never been overly fond of FPS on controllers with a few very rare exceptions. I've played FPS games on either just a keyboard or keyboard and mouse since the original Doom and have never grown to enjoy the feel of them on the controller.

after playing the beta i'm pretty hyped for this game. reading reddit about all the console players getting hyped for tonight's release just adds to it. Oct. 24th can't get here soon enough. feels good to get excited for an upcoming release.

This is nearly 7 weeks later!

You use a good mouse and sensitivity, a full sweep with my mouse from mid to side of my mouse should be enough to turn me 180 and do it way more accurately than a controller

Wait, what? Why is isn't it being released across all platforms at the same time?

Bungie has stated they need extra time to get the PC version working good. Though I'd imagine that the deal with Sony might have also played a part in the delay as well as Activision themselves.

110 FOV (horizontal) is not wide enough for you??...for me 90 Horz FOV is fine...seems like 100-110 is fine for most...EDIT: or because it's 3rd person?

Every game I play is different. Sometimes I like 90, sometimes 110, sometimes in-between. I just keep cranking it up until I see fish-eye, then go back a bit.

I think it's the third person. Defaults are pretty narrow, I think the beta was under 90.

I picked the Hunter class and the first time I activated the super and went into electro-stick mode, I kinda got disoriented.

Amazon should be dropping this off tonight 9/6/17 for the XBONE...
I expect to put the disk in and then the XBONE will download the entire game in a huge update. I should hopefully be able to play by evening on 9/7/17. PM me if you want to play.

I'll be playing the PS4 version tonight. My PSN ID is ArmeniusLOD if anyone want to add me for some Strike team missions. My XBONE CE comes tomorrow, so might play that one over the weekend if Irma doesn't interrupt those plans. Gamertag is the same as my PSN ID. I do have a headset if you want me to tell you the various ways I've fucked your moms.

I'll probably be getting my PS4 copy either over the weekend or next week.

Destiny 2 players are mad that cosmetic shaders are now single-use

Destiny 2, while so far incrementally improving on the original in almost every way, dropped the ball with its fashion community shortly after its recent console launch...formerly permanent inventory items you could swap in and out at will to change your guardian's color palette, Destiny 2's shaders disappear after a single use...

in a way the 6 week delay of the PC release might be a good thing as they have time to gather feedback from the community and fix a lot of the major issues

6 weeks worth of patches will definitely allow us to have a better experience right out the gate.

Aim assist for the PC version = a no buy. Worst decision ever.

The game will be very popular for Consoles. Pc version will be dead very quickly.

Hopefully Bungie address it in some way. While a lot of people don't care about Destiny's PVP it is still a big part of the game and could hurt it on the PC.

The update was only 5.85gb and didn't take long to install. It was a real struggle for me to get through the intro missions as it was pretty bland. I finally unlocked the multiplayer aspect of it and will hopefully enjoy it more tomorrow. I can understand why people like this game, I just still am not sure if it's for me.

Been playing on Xbox One since 1100 pm on 9/6...you PC guys are in for a treat. Big improvements almost across the board (fucking single use shaders WTF??). Been playing Destiny since year 1 and they've done a great job with the sequel.

Why would Bungie change this, though? They're pushing micro-transactions, and this is clearly a big part of it.

There's only so much nerd rage you can control, however good the actual game is.

I'm sure it'll be "adjusted" a bit so it's not as blatant (or that much P2W), but yes, micro is here to stay.

This is what I expected.

Honestly? I couldn't care less about skins and if that's all people are bitching about... *shrugs*

^^ Kinda lame but not tantrum worthy IMO.

Sure, there's going to be some bugaboos in the early goings like anyone would expect for any kind of large venture like this. The whole thing as good as its weakest links. You want to make games where we have to suck off the Internet's tit nonstop it raises the risk.

Anyone remember the first six months at least on...Battlefield 3 or 4 was it?... Ain' no way it's going to be that bad, aim assist issue or not.

The aim assist issue is more important for them to address before the PC version launches. Then they can deal with skins and stuff like that later.

I think PC gamers are going to be the beneficiaries here and I'm glad the PC version isn't out at the same time.

I don't know if their micro-transactions are P2W, necessarily. But I highly doubt they're going to change the way skins are handled if they're pushing the store so much.

Can anyone elaborate on what the other micro-transactions are? Do skins make up a large chunk of them?

#3

Shaders = colors for your gear / "skins"

Mods = stat boosts you plug into your characters

Loot boxes = you can buy them with real-world money

Good idea for people on the fence to watch this. Karak does a good job discussing current issues with the game and giving recommendations for people unsure about the game. Obviously this is for the XB1 and PS4/Pro versions, but a lot will still apply to the PC one.

I'm going to Roll a Titan just because I think the shield will be fun to hide behind for Raids plus the added armor. Played a Warlock for Destiny 1 which was good for PVP

I'm torn, I love the titan and the warlock. I like how the titans small shield auto reloads your ammo when you crouch behind it but the warlocks nova bomb was really fun and his aoe heal was really useful to

My big problem with microtransactions is having them in full-priced games. I would say they should just charge a bit more up-front, but...They already do that with "Deluxe" editions and Season Passes. And then they still add microtransactions!

That's my gripe, too. Street Fighter 5 is like that. There's a normal version, a season pass, individual micro-transactions (outfits), and additional micro-transaction bundles (additional outfits and stages). No matter what you do, you're looking at close to $100 to get everything and that doesn't include anything coming in the future either.

I absolutely hate when developers keep nickel and diming users on top of a full-priced game.
