Destiny 2

generic is a good way to describe it...I call it casual...this is for casual gamers who don't need or want a lot of depth in their gameplay (choosing a few skills does not make this a RPG)...I hope the retail release will have way more PvE versus PvP...I played a few of those PvP Crucible matches and got bored quick...even though the Strike co-op PvE is also repetitive I enjoy replaying it...I also like the map designs and look of the characters...the overall presentation of this game is drawing me in more then the actual gameplay...reminds me a bit of Titanfall

I was never overly fond of PVP in the first game, haven't even bothered trying it in the beta. The problem with the game being designed the way it is makes the PVP aspect not as fun as the PVE stuff, at least for me. If Bungie learned from Destiny 1 and used those lessons in 2 I imagine all, or most, of the strikes should be really interesting and well developed. I think the real meat of the fun repeatable stuff are the raids. Trying to learn how to beat them, then going back and trying to perfect those strategies while exploring more of the raid to find hidden chests, and so on. The raids were some of the best designed elements in the first game.

is there a list somewhere showing all the content that will be available for the retail release?

The full retail is going to have a ton of PvE quests & activities. Plus you get to customize a character's skills/actions once you build them up. I don't think they've done the PvE side any service due to lack of customizable options.

the game is coming out next week for consoles so I'm surprised that everything has not been revealed by now...

Yeah. The only leaks we've had so far are the PS4 trophies, which lead to some info on the first raid, and some info on the first DLC. There is very little out there about the story and how many specific areas are in the game itself. Guess we'll learn soon enough what the game all has to offer.

in the beta some of the skills and subclasses are unlocked for the 3 main classes...I think they want you to play around with different perks to get a feel for which style you want to go for...the beta needed a better tutorial section...as is they barely explain anything

Some people said that closing/minimizing Battle.net after launching the game fixes it.

Sadly, no fixes so far. New drivers didn't help, killing bnet app or minimizing doesnt do anything (its required to sign in anyway). According to the in game fps counter im at a solid 60 fps and its only using 2.5GB of 8gb video ram. But the game stutters every time I move the mouse. In game menus, gameplay or cutscenes.

Edit: Fixed the problem via the bungie support forums. This game apparently doesnt like much of anything running in the background that might be scanning or security (as well as some overylays/vid recording software). Turning off malwarebytes completely cleared up the stutter. Game runs smooth at its 60fps lock.

Not real keen that it uses blizzard real id names in messaging though.

the more I play this, the more I like it...the shooting and overall gameplay just feels solid...I think I'm in if I can snag a code for relatively cheap (~$25)...the lack of major AAA game releases over the past few months also plays a role

Ditto. The more I play the better it gets.

Feels like a console port, and I generally don't understand the hype of this thing.

It definitely feels real "console-y." I was looking forward to it, but now am really having to rethink that.

It's warframe with better production value.

What I played of it was fun tho, aside from a couple crashes that seemed to fix with a direct x update, it runs really well

you have to disable the real ID shit in the settings some where.. i ended up uninstalling the game so never got around to finding where the option was at.. why it's on by default who the hell knows but it's dumb. graphically the game looks amazing but the game play is no where near 60 dollars worth of amazing.. to many good under 50 dollar games out there to make it a good buy on PC.

for the Warlord Phoenix Dive passive it says to Hold Circle/B while midair to quickly descend and restore your health. While Daybreak is active, Descend causes explosive damage

what key is that on kb/m?...what action is that mapped to?...I remapped a lot of key bindings so whatever the default was no longer applies

Real ID was an optional thing when I signed up for Battle.net just 3 years ago. I have never used it.

Been forced to restart the mission 4 times because of random disconnects, nothing wrong with my internet so all I can assume is that its Bungie's shitty netcode. And why the fuck does it need to boot you out of the campaign altogether if you lose sync, apart from the fact that requiring a constant connection for SP is and has always been downright retarded. Very close to writing this game off altogether, have better things to do with my time.

There are automatic drop-in/drop-out multiplayer aspects to the sp.

I've heard this a lot. It makes me want to try Warframe more and more, I've heard it's pretty fun.

Warframe is well worth trying to be sure but it's apples and oranges vs Destiny and especially when the full Destiny 2 hits.

So what, there are plenty of games which have that functionality without requiring a constant connection if you are playing solo. But like I said, booting you from the campaign altogether just because you lose sync is moronic.

Agree but... it's a beta. ;)

Seen plenty of people with no problems... then seen people with varying degrees like you. I can't find it right now but that's the point of this beta: Report the issues to Bungie!

Destiny 2 already has my pre order money. Assuming they fix the aim assist issue (I would think it's a no brainer since like 5000 people have already complained about it) I'll probably be going D2 route first, but Warframe does look appealing with the new open world area they are putting out. I'm sure I'll give it a go at some point. Destiny does look pretty though in 4k maxed out. I am enjoying that as much as anything else. Great strike mission too, I played it like 5 times. I'll probably hate that one by the time it launches haha.

You can't go wrong. You can get Warframe right now and milk it until Destiny 2 comes out. Bottom line is you're looking at two asinine "free time black holes" here. You've been warned. ;)

Never heard that excuse before.

See the rest of my post that I added above.

There's going to be issues with something this big and expansive. There's no question about that and yeah, after a point, there's no excuse for it, either.

If I had my way I would absolutely love to have a situation where if I were doing "solo" I wouldn't be at the mercy of the Internet at all. That's my overall preference. Always has been. Always will be.

I'm actually surprised I like these games as much as I do because of that preference. (Same goes for Division.)

Yeah you ARE right actually. I've been wondering what I'm going to do with my free time until mid October when Destiny hits the shelf. >_<

This is not your typical FPS game. It is more of an MMO and there is no true single player. Sure you can play a lot of the game solo If you want, but I don't know of any MMO that you can play without a constant connection to a server.

Whelp, I didn't know preorders went live beginning of April...

But I was able to snag a CE for the XBONE from GAME in the UK. Description said no international orders, but I was able to enter a US address and I got confirmation a few minutes later. Hopefully those cunts won't back out come September...

Update: Beta code redeemed :smug:
I just received confirmation that this is being packed :D. Won't get too excited, yet, because I still need the shipping confirmation.

Just curious: You have a pretty nice PC. Why did you opt for this version?

If you feel like playing the game ASAP you could always buy the console version of the game right now and sell it in 2 months when the PC version comes out. You'd only be out $15 if you sold it to the right store.
