Dead Space PC controls suck balls

Dare i ask if the game is any good ? :)
Im getting it tomorrow
yes its very good and I have only just finished the first level. its a little like Doom3 with some Bioshock elements mixed in. there are just so many cool and as as for as I know unique things about the way it plays but I wont spoil it it for you.

I have a major issue folks, I have a 2nd HDD where all of my documents get mapped to and it seems yet again this game is one of those games where the dev decided not to implement an alt method to save games (get an Unable to save in slot message when trying to save) if the user's default documents location in vista is on a root of a 2nd hdd.

UT3 had the exact same issue but UT3 was bypassed using a target switch on the games shortcut but I don't know what can be done about this game.

I mean FFS, Even BULLY can manage to see that I have a 2nd HDD with My "Documents" folder mapped to the root, it simply creates its game folder at the root and saves all data there.

Any ideas?

Ok can someone please tell me how to enable AA in this game? The in-game option is on and there are jaggies all over. I have dual 8800 ultras. I tried forcing in the NCP and it looks the same.

yep it shows it on in the game menu for me too yet jaggy city. forcing it from ATI CCC doesnt do anything either. aliasing usually doesnt bother me but its pretty bad in this game.

Honestly on my 360 this game is incredible. The controls are not too bad , gameplay makes up for it.

Hardest parts is control in ZeroG

Reformat your OS :)

I picked this up for my PS3. Game is really fun. I've set it to 1080p, and with the sound turned up, can make you jump at times :)

Yeah guys, just force VSync / Triple Buffering with the NVidia CP. Do it with all your games really, Far Cry 2, etc.

enabling triple buffering from the control panel will do nothing for this game or any other DirectX game. the triple buffering setting in either ATI or Nvidia control panels is for OpenGL games only.

Having same or similar problems to For and Loafer, not sure if it's the exact same. Plus others. First I had the lag/delay issue, where I'd move the mouse and it would only move in the game a second later, but turning off vsync fixed it.

But playing the game, it's like my mouse sensitivity is racked to the bottom. I use a trackball, and I have to spin it a number of times to move even remotely. Aiming is even worse, after about ten minutes of playing my arm is hurting just from aiming/moving the mouse. I haven't yet confirmed whether the sensitivity changes in different environments. So far it seems like it's all the same, but I haven't gotten very far. Yes I tried changing the sensitivity in the menu, but that doesn't seem to affect things at all for me.

Tried enabling vsync in nvidia menu, and offing in the game, but no visible difference so far. I really hope they patch this issue quickly. Wish I'd known about this sooner, I would've bought it on 360 instead. I suppose the 360 controllers are an option, but I only have wireless controllers, so it'd mean shelling out for the wireless receiever thing. Might do it, but it's still 20 bucks or whatever for a single game (Can't think of any other games I'd use it on)

Too bad there isn't a demo for this game so we could see how it ran on the pc before buying.

Apparently there is no ability to remap the keys in this game. So if you don't like the default controls, too bad, you're stuck with them.

And apparently you can't use the arrow keys for movement, you must use WASD. Not good for people like me who use the mouse in their left hand.

I won't be buying this game unless/until they fix this thing up to reasonable PC game standards.

Could it be true that this game crashes because of my mobo integrated soundcard? Then again it didn't work right even when I disabled it in my BIOS or is that not enough?

This thread had me braced for suckdom but I personally find the controls perfectly acceptable. I'm running a single 8800GT 512 and I'm maxed settings at 1920X1200. I never have V-sync on in any of my games anyways so that's probably helping me out. My Logitech G9 mouse has a very high DPI rating so by turning that up all the way in conjunction with the in game menu's mouse sensitivity all the way up...I think the controls are just fine. I don't have any issues on my rig thus far and I'm at Mission 5.

I think this is an awesome game all told. I suspect the answer here for some folks here isn't as simple as "Get a better mouse and max out all the sensitivity settings on all sides" though. Maybe I'm just lucky...

Being able to remap some keys and such would have been nice and I can see where a hardcore left handed person using a mouse in their left hand would be up the creek here but outside of those situations I can recommend this game wholeheartedly.

how can you enable AA for a ati? (tried through control panel) would love to get rid of the jaggies.

So far it is very fun, though I am only about 30 minutes in. Most of the textures are good, but there are some really bad ones. PC controls are sluggish but this is partly because of how the game was created.

This game is awesome.

Recommend buying this one 100%.

I'm about 6 hours in on chapter 6.

yeah I have no idea what the people that claim this game has good graphics are looking at. the best textures in the game are okay but lots of things are pretty blurry including Issac himself. also for all the talk about how good the lighting is I found it to be pretty bad. I like the game but a lot of the graphics are maybe one step up from Doom3. this game would be much more immersive and atmospheric with crisper textures and creepier lighting.

heres a screenshot I took at 1280x960 all max settings. now this is by far the worst texture I have seen in the game so most arent this bad.

On another note, the only complaint I do have of the game, is that the "appearance" of enemies is rather easily predicted. Maybe it's because I've played so many games and I can tell, or maybe it's just predictable.

*****Possible slight spoilers******

Then mentioning of the vents at the beginning of the game, and then 95% of the time I see a vent, a necromorph will come out of it either while I'm right by it, or after I've passed it. Also the "go press this button to activate X" and as soon as I do, the giant room I'm in fills with enemies is kind of cliche' to me. It's a small rant and it has not taken away from the fun of the game by any means, just something I thought I'd point out.

Guys i am thinking of buying this game on either PC or console..but i would really like to play on a controller. I wanted to ask if there are any other controllers apart from the 360 pad supported or if there is any way to get them working? In terms of specifics i have the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2.

A bit off topic but does the wireless 360 pad work on the PC or only the wired one?

Thanks

if you already have an Xbox360 wireless controller then you need to buy just the adapter to work on pc. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103054

the "PC" Xbox360 wireless controller comes with that adapter.

hhmm a bit confused there when u mentioned "PC"...you mean there are two versions of the xbox controller out there? One that only works with the 360 and another that is for the PC as well?

I put the quotes around PC to let you know it is the same controller. the only difference is that it comes with that adapter. also the PC one has the software on the included disc but all you need to do is go to the xbox site and download it.

to be clear they are all the same controllers. the wired PC versions just come with the software install disc and the wireless PC version also includes the wireless adapter. if you have wired 360 controller and you want to use it on your pc all you ned to do is go to xbox site and install the software first. if you have a wireless 360 controller and want to use it on pc you need software and the wireless adapter.

^ If you don't have the wireless receiver for the PC, wouldn't you need some kind of bluetooth functionality in your PC already?

Ok thanks! got it now :D

you just plug the Microsoft wireless receiver into USB 2.0 port on any pc after installing the software and the wireless controller will work.

Game looks great. Having more fun than Farcry2. PC controls are fine. The view angles make it harder to maneuver but this is 1 game where it makes sense. The character you play isnt some super killing machine. Just an engineer trying to survive. So the aiming and combat movement is slower and makes killing more challenging. This game is more fun on hard setting. Clickable.

That comes standard with an xbox 360? I thought the wireless was built in.. (I know the PC xbox360 controller comes with one, but the question was using the controller that came with the xbox360 with the PC..)

I went into great detail explaining this so if you dont get it then I dont know what else to add.

those are nice screenshots. there are plenty of places in the game that look awful though and overall textures are okay at best.

I agree but it makes up for it. Not the game of the year but definitely a surprise sleeper.

I wouldn't call that great detail. You're leaving out the part where the wireless receiver comes from-- does it come with an xbox360? I myself bought an xbox360 controller FOR the PC and it came with a wireless adapter. My understanding is the wireless for the xbox360 console is built in, so controllers that come with it do not have a wireless dongle.

ok wow, I just bought and install the game from Direct2Drive, played about five minutes, and all I can say is WOW this game is scary as shit. really intense atmosphere, kudos to the team that developed this!
