Days Gone

I have been on the fence about this game but I can see that those of you that played it were generally happy with it. Now GOG comes in with a huge sale on it for $12 so I figure that's a no-brainer. Why the hell not? Any kind of positive comparisons to RDR2 (here and elsewhere) are hard to ignore.
Huge, interesting open world, great character to play as, atmospheric, fun story that’s actually easy to follow, enjoyable combat, traversal via the motorbike… this game has it all, and it’s silky smooth to boot. I’m envious that you’re going in for the first time.

Enjoy, the game is an absolute treat. The only thing I didn't like while I played was knowing there wasn't going to be a sequel.

Got it for $10.50 through Greenmangaming with the code BDAY14, thanks! It gave me a steam key.

This feels like the steal of the century at these prices. I hope Sony or whomever has an epiphany about a sequel because there is a lot of potential here. I say that as someone who is fairly burned out on the whole zombie thing no less.

The game is a fantastic and I'm tempted to call it a masterpiece. Everything you all said was true and then some.

I sure hope Sony or someone picks up a sequel for it. One thing that may have worked against the sequel idea is they were pitching too much including a multiplayer component. Forget it. Just give us more of this. Please. Someone.

Glad you finally played it, I need to revisit it myself, I remember the great vibes while playing it.. exploring the broken world, cruising on the bike, killing hordes of zombies, and it actually a great story and fairly fleshed out mechanics.

Ok ok...I had been eyeing this game for a while and finally picked it up for $13ish during the recent Steam Sale and have put 7 hours into it so far. That is enough to determine this game is amazing and I cannot believe I waited so long to play it. Being on PC and being able to aim with the mouse makes it much less frustrating because I am terrible aiming with a controller. All the internal systems like crafting and gathering are just so well thought out. It's been a minute since I had a game give me that excited feeling during game play. Good to have that again.

I enjoyed it for about ten or fifteen hours and then it just ran out of steam for me. I got pretty tired doing all these quests that kept popping up and riding around began to feel like a chore.

The worst aspect of the game is the middle section that forces you to do a bunch of boring quests. It's unfortunate because if you can power through that section the rest of the game is outstanding just like the first 1/3.

Yeah that is where I burned out and stopped

For the sake of pacing, I wish the game had 1-2 fewer encampments. Things became a bit of a drag in the middle and I found myself flying through later sections (which were actually pretty good) because I got burned out by all the fetch quests earlier.

I know the devs are pretty proud of what they did and had plans for a sequel. Kind of a bummer that the publisher nixed that, because it's an interesting story/world. Hopefully at some point things change before everyone totally gives up and there's 0 chance of it ever happening.

Well, they should be proud. It's amazing for a UE4 based game.

I didn't even know that. One of the best uses of UE4, especially for an open world game.
Yes, if you don't tell people this it's pretty undetectable that it's a UE4 game. It actually runs good. Although apparently they did a bunch of low-level shit to the engine to not run like shit, which is part of the reason why their development took so long.

Seems like the remaster is just for the PS5 and the new DLC modes are all that's needed for the PC. That makes sense.

Horizon Zero Dawn and now Days Gone...these remasters are mainly meant for the PS5...the Zero Dawn remaster I hear made some things worse on PC

Looking at the extra stuff in the DLC - I couldn't care less about any of those things. I guess DualSense haptic feedback seems neat, but you still need to have your controller plugged in to get that as far as I know.
I appreciate them adding that stuff so the PC version has parity with the PS5 remaster, but I can't see most people caring enough to drop $10 on that stuff.

I agree, I'd like some new missions or something along those lines.

So I started a new playthrough on this on Hard II as its been a long time since I played. Where I appreciate the efforts, I agree that it's not much I am concerned with. The significantly darker at night may be good as it is far too bright at night in game. Id like to get surprised by a horde or other. My video card won't be enough to really appreciate the other improvements I suspect.

Permadeath mode sounds interesting. Curious how that will be implemented with the save system. I died once in my playthrough so far from my poor usage of gear about halfway through. Hard II is not actually hard as it turns out. Just bullet sponges and no fast travel.

Well Holy Moly! 50 hours in, and the game keeps going. I actually thought it was getting near the end, and nope! Opened up a whole new area down south. This has been a suprisingly good game. I say that from some of the back history when the game first came out appeared to be bumpy.

Sure some of the cut scenes are long, but it's an engaging story that I didn't see coming.

Not a perfect game, but I'd say 9/10. Not done, no idea how it ends, but looking forward to it!

Yeah, this game was a complete surprise for me too. I hated for it to end and wished they had supported it with some meaningful DLC and a sequel.
