I do wonder if their shipping areas have cameras..I would think so to some degree..and they could see who packaged this specific order...

not necessarily. If they are shipping things in easily identifiable boxes. Others like Amazon do this as well but amazon, walmart etc sell a zillion things. Newegg box has a better chance of containing valuable electronics. Amazon might be a box of toothpicks. They should ditch the packaging unless its really valuable advertising. unscrupulous geeks will be tempted to take a peek inside newegg boxes. There's no way this happened twice unless it was an employee at the warehouse stealing items. It's not rocket science.
That being said, the fact that there are two identical issues should help Newegg see that the problem is on their end.

yeah. if that can be confirmed. The tape on both sets of pics is a little suspect tho. second has 2 layers (could be overlap from wrapping around). First could just be a bad tape job at the warehouse. You can cut the tape at the bottom to open the flaps and then tape it back. Think OP said someone ripped the back and taped it back. But if there is no evidence of the box being tampered with, then you would assume that the issue happened prior to shipping (e.g. an employee packaging items for shipment).
Because there are no AMD cpus in stock to stealPfff why would someone steal a Intel cpu? AMD is where it is at.
What if it is the thief coming in to finish his job and tie up loose ends ... ??!!So another update. UPS shows up at the office a few minutes ago to pickup a damaged package for, "1 CPU INTEL". UPS left me a "Damage call tag customer receipt" with a tracking number.
Newegg didn't tell me a thing about the pickup or return. No email, no guidance, just UPS showing up wanting the package out of the blue.
Funny, I had that thought when the receptionist called. Someone covering their tracks. Icing on the cake will be Newegg demanding I send them the package or charge me for the replacement...What if it is the thief coming in to finish his job and tie up loose ends ... ??!!
Hopefully they find the culprit(s) and do something about it. What the fuck.
If not, contact your CC and file a fraud claim/wrong product sent to you and store won't honor replacement/return/refund. Should work out in your favor at the end.I just hope they get to my claim fast. The issue is if they disappoint me and they decide to not resolve the claim for some reason, that would be a bummer.
Sadly, I used a debt card. Thinking about it, when I don't have a CC, I should use PayPal ...If not, contact your CC and file a fraud claim/wrong product sent to you and store won't honor replacement/return/refund. Should work out in your favor at the end.
Ooof... that's a problem.Sadly, I used a debt card. Thinking about it, when I don't have a CC, I should use PayPal ...
Many debit cards still have charge back abilities. If it has a Visa or mastercard logo it probably does. Check with your card issuer (phone number on back generally) if you end up with no newegg resolution.Sadly, I used a debt card. Thinking about it, when I don't have a CC, I should use PayPal ...
How odd, different warehouses, different states being delivered do.. clearly an inside job, or some other "customer" buying the CPUs, taking them out, and shipping them back for a refund, with their RMA department not checking (highly unlikely). But seriously, why would someone inside the company steal that particular CPU and in such an obvious and negligent fashion.. this isn't even a CPU they can resell for a profit, is it? It's not rare like AMDs are at the moment.
If Newegg wasn't able to help (which I'm relived for you they did), my next step would have been to have filed a claim with my CC, followed by BBB (despite as useless as people claim they are)

edit: I recall seeing reports of people doing something similar with their Amazon returns. They'd buy a CPU, take it out and keep it, then put in an old ass CPU with a printed sticker label on the CPU that says Ryzen etc, in the same format as the Ryzen lid writing, which they send back to Amazon or sell on Ebay. So the next customer to receive it gets an effing Athlon XP or Ryzen 1 or something with just a square sticker on the CPU to make it look like it is a Ryzen 3. Some people are scum.
A lot of families are struggling, I've had 2 packages disappear. In November it was a 2080ti and this month a rx5700xt. Both thru USPS and bought from people, not a online store. After that I bit the bullet and bought a 10850k and rtx 3070 locally to avoid that crap. At least newegg did right by these peopleI'd think you could sell a working bare 10850K for $350 at least. If you're getting them for free (by stealing them), that's a pretty healthy profit. To the right underpaid warehouse worker, I can even imagine that being worth the risk. $350 is two or three weeks' worth of food, for my house.
