COD 4 Is Out

Unimpressed. Feels like another rehash. Very linear, always being told what to do, where to go...I didn't even think the graphics looked that amazing. It does run smooth on 1440x900 X8AF everything set to high or extra. Although I noticed a few options in the demo (character models) can't go above medium.

I thought it was okay, pretty much exactly what I expected in terms of gameplay. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Crysis, but the graphics were disappointing. Shame that there's no MP in the demo, as that's what matters to me.

I love it. very chaotic. Just like firing your weapon in anger - and being shot back at....

The "bad guys" seem to take a lot to take down - but it is slick.

Whoa ...hold on there.....

Nobody has PLAYED it yet. Hold off that judgement until the demo later this month.

My 8600GTS card plays the CoD4 Demo flawlessly, despite the 128-bit memory!

Definitely a must buy! :D

People have to played Crysis. How about the beta?

Graphics still need some tweaking to be fully optimized, I believe.
But i'm curious, what do you think this is a rehash of? Definitely not CoD 2. I've been playing CoD 2 since the beginning of time itself and it doesn't seem anything like Cod2 to me other than it's an first person shooter :p

Different things, we will see what happens when the SP demo for Crysis comes out (With the map editor)

CoD4 ran great with all of the settings turned to the highest option they gave you.

I totally forgot that one of things I was excited about was that bullets can go through some objects. (However when I watch them go through 4 walls of concrete I'm a little skeptical)

It's pretty good, Veteran is a bit crazy, but I beat the demo after a few tries.

One headshot, or maybe 4 body shots? You can get over 850 ammo with the M4... Not to mention all the guns are ludicrously accurate.

Your just negative, COD4 is one of the best shooters of this year. The game has a huge immersion factor, and seems very very lifelike. It surpasses COD2 by a a mile and half in terms of everything. You can tell that COD4 has excellent visuals, sound, and gameplay mechanics. It should be a definite buy for all shooter fans, actually, it should be must buy for everybody who is a gamer period.

Although infinity ward didn't reinvent the wheel, they dam sure polished it well.

So your saying have the weapons shoot less accurately, like umm MOH Airborne.. Um no, COD4 isn't aiming to be a Marine/Army Simulation and if they did chose that route the gameplay would suffer. COD4 is a fast paced, action packed, thrilling experience, having the weapons act more in a "Simulation" kind of way would take away from the overall experience.

I was personally very unimpressed. Played exactly like the original COD but with new skins on everything.

I agree. Game was decent, but nothing has really changed. Not that I expected it to. Why change something when it's that popular? However, it's very linear, scripted with the guy jumping down the stair every time. It looks nice, but is there going to be any replay value in this? To me this looks like it will end up like airborne. Play it once and that's it.

And if they don't adjust the weapons to make it a little bit harder, MP is going to be stupid. There will be no use for any sniper weapons because I can just use my M4 to pick you off at 300m away.

I'm not really a huge fan of the CoD series, I did play the others but never got into it much after playing it through once. To me this just seems more of the same in a different time period.

COD2 is a MUCH better game with the realism mod - makes guns less accurate, slows characters down, makes weapons more lethal, etc etc. My opinion of course, but I can't wait to have something similar in MP with COD4 :D:

I"m not a fan of simulation shooters, If I was I would play Ghost Recon or something.. I can't stand those games, I like games where the action never stops (more arcade style), thats why I like COD4 so much.

If Ghost Recon is a simulated shooter then what is COD4? I can't stand the linear style where you have to follow other computer controlled team members. At least with Ghost Recon you are the leader/captain and in control. I was hoping little to no linear play from watching the online videos. Same old game...

GRAW2 is a much better single player game for what it's worth.

Yeah GRAW2 is better for your taste.. And you're absolutely correct.

After finally getting the demo.. All I have to say is wow.. this game runs freakin amazing. With my specs all the eye candy turned on and still pulling 35-40 fps in intense battle.

The game play is defenatly a seat of your pants, fast paced crazy warfare. Not like graw2 where you have a ton of time and could sit and observ your path, goals, use the topo map to see enemys. This is a nice twist.

Defenatly a buyer :)

At that point, you're playing CS:S.

Maybe I'll download this demo. I don't know, though. Call of Duty is a series that I just have a hard time caring about.

Why is that?

The CoD games are some of the best FPS action you'll get, the singleplayer missions are always cinematic and fun.

I played the first one, and I was just really bored the whole time, so I haven't bothered since.

Not really my cup of tea - much like the rest of the CoD games. I feel like there is no real point to even picking up a gun. Does't matter if you kill anything, itll just respawn. Run around completing objectives while thousands of bullets hit you, but your health recovers anyway. If the MP is good, I might buy it. Unfortunately, the SP campaign is a complete turn off.

I didn't care much for the other CoD games but this demo was really quite good imo.

that was an AMAZING demo, nice job infinity ward/activision

the action was awesome, true COD style, and graphics were amazing

truly will be a great game

From you guys that have played it is it in anyway like BF2? If so im gonna stay away from it...

Ahhh well COD4 is going to definitely get bought, gameplay is friggin amazing and the graphics just take the gaming experience to another level.

That's catered for - the "hardcore mode" has been designed to be like that from scratch.

As far as comments about not liking the fact that you're following orders to go to whatever and do somesuch, that's pretty much what the CoD series is about - being a part of a bigger thing rather than a gimmick-gun wielding solo superman. Being dependent and supposedly part of an actual force is a bit more novel than playing another one-man army, I find. That, and the CoD games have always been cinematic enough to compensate for the lack of open-endedness.

Well said, they are very linear but they wouldn't have the same Cinematic feel to them if they were open ended.

First thing about CoD4 that struck me as an imediate improvement, there are a LOT of people shooting and tracers everywhere, and lots of noise and you keep your head down, but you're not popped in the head the instant you peek out of cover.

It seems like not only is the accuracy of the enemies way down but there's more of them to compensate, which means you get some really good gunfights going where you're stuck in one position exchanging fire for a while, rather than constantly attacking. I like the stop and defend parts of these games, you can take a breather while you regroup and it sticks you in the middle of your squad so you feel like you're part of the squad rather than constantly leading them into battle.

The ONLY thing comparable is the setting. Otherwise, COD4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BF2.

What is your complaint about BF2, I'm curious.

As for this demo... I commented in another post, but basically it comes down to this: With infinite enemies, there isn't a point in shooting back. Just sprint to your next objective location so the storyline moves forward. Kind of takes away from what a FPS is about to me.

Ouch!!!!

I'd get it when its $20, coz I read that its linear, therefore replayability is low. Now if there is a mod support (which Infinity Ward has no history of doing so) I'd probably buy it right away.
Oh wait, IW probably would release an expansion pack.
After selling some units, they would then release a Gold Edition (Game+Expansion Pack+Patches) for the same price as the first release.

You are ignorant then. Not being mean. I am just saying that you must lack experience with COD Multiplayer. I play COD 2 Multiplayer and we get about 4 new maps a month. PLENTY of re playability and COD 2 is STILL one of the top 3 Multiplayer fps out there.
