but from the way the demo was played it seems all to familiar.
The "cinematic" linear presentation is wearing thin. These games feel like you're on a "dark ride" at Disneyland. Everything feels so scripted. The freedom of choice is an illusion.
What is your complaint about BF2, I'm curious.
As for this demo... I commented in another post, but basically it comes down to this: With infinite enemies, there isn't a point in shooting back. Just sprint to your next objective location so the storyline moves forward. Kind of takes away from what a FPS is about to me.
You are ignorant then. Not being mean. I am just saying that you must lack experience with COD Multiplayer. I play COD 2 Multiplayer and we get about 4 new maps a month. PLENTY of re playability and COD 2 is STILL one of the top 3 Multiplayer fps out there.

I was expecting lower FPS around 65-70 do to all the high detail graphics. I have Crysis demo but COD4 fps is better. Love the detail facial on the soldiers.
See my system spec below.

I find it absolutely amazing how FileFront is free and CONSISTENTLY gives me 1.2 MB/sec downloads while I occasionally pay for FilePlanet for access to some betas, and I have NEVER achieved a download speed faster than 600 KB/sec.
Yeah a Q6700 and 2 8800GTXs running SLI.
With that dinosaur of a system, I'm suprised you can run it at all....
Truly shocking you can get playable framerate with that setup.
I love BF2 and no other. Would I like COD4?
∞Velocitymaster∞;1031538997 said:Yea but what good is 2 video cards. The demo does not have SLI support yet. I notice only one video card warming up and other bottom on is cooler. Oh I enable the SLI bar in the nvidia control panel, I see nothing. Unlike Stalker or Oblivion. I guess no SLI support in the beta.![]()

I loved CoD. I loved CoD2. I can tell by the demo already that I'm going to love CoD4.
Yawn.
When are we going to get another real FPS? (Raven Shield anyone?)
I mean yes, the game is very pretty, it looks amazing and runs even better. Everything looks so nice but why does it still feel the exact same as the last 3 call of duty games? If the multiplayer is amazing I'll give it a shot, but from the way the demo was played it seems all to familiar.
Weird.. I guess I didn't check the SLI bar though the game did seem to run alot better when I enabled it. I run it at 1680x1050 with shadows on low and I'm getting nearly 300 fps in some spots. I did update my drivers. 164.75 maybe? I forget the version number. Not on my home computer right now to look it up. I was using some older drivers that were junk in Cod4. Once updated, tripled the framerate in the game.∞Velocitymaster∞;1031539040 said:I forgot to mention, I did enable Dual video card in the graphic options, but still not SLI functioning.
Right click the file and hit properties. What is the file size?I downloaded the demo from Gamespot, when I double click to launch it flashes up a small window then vanishes. I can't install it, any ideas?

I'll have to check when I get home. I think it is about 1.4 Gigs.
It's not 740MB. It's over 1.4GB.woah
that ain't right. it's about 740mb
It's not 740MB. It's over 1.4GB.
so...fileplanet is only letting you download 741mb even if the file is bigger than that? No wonder this demo doesn't work for anyone who got it from fileplanet.
Or, are you saying EVERYTHING is 741mb? Even files that are actually smaller? Cuz if I get on fileplanet to download a 20k file and I have to sit there while it downloads 741mb of nothingness, I'd be pissed![]()
COD4 is one of the most impressive shooters I've ever played. As far as modern military shooters it's king in my book.
That's what i'm saying...If you didn't like the other COD's then you really won't care for this one either. If you were a fan then I guess you'll love it. I'm hoping that the online game will be way more fun. Then again I didn't care for the demo. I might pick up the game when it's $20.
I'm a big fan of BF2. This is no BF2.
Pretty bold statement there, especially considering the game hasn't been released.
Have you never played an actual tactical shooter before? Those are where the realistic guns are. I think the guns in this game are alright but they still lack realism. The M4A1 feels like one of the guns from CoD1/2/3 (can't remember which one, not the thompson...), it's just skinned differently.
I'm surprised so many of you use the Fileplanet download manager, can't stand that thing.![]()
Yes I agree with you, the M4A1 is not so realistic and not the tompson for sure lol. Yea! I hate that fileplanet download manager too lol. I guess he never played an actual tactical shooter game before lol
lol to me the guns aren't that real in terms of sound accuracy but the intensity and the whole battle feeling rush you get from the call of dutys is what everyone likes. It makes you feel like your actually fighting a war and not just like 5 guys behind some gate that you see all glitching in and out lol.
Reminds me a lot of the German MP44.. or an automatic version of the Gewehr, actually, now that you mention it.The M4A1 feels like one of the guns from CoD1/2/3 (can't remember which one, not the thompson...), it's just skinned differently.
