For comparing with new, once in a while there is. But against what you can get on ebay or used...hail no, lol. Watching what the guys buy on servethehome and comparing that to the outlet prices showed me that quick. Once in a while there's a good deal on a switch with 10G uplinks so keep your eye out for those.

True, but they're different animals for different markets--shuttle more for htpc, asus more for small business desktop (think sff).

But the good thing is either one is deeply discounted from retail. (y)

And B&H still sells it for $2700+ so if someone needs that particular machine, $1665 is significantly less: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1021114-REG/apple_md878ll_a_mac_pro_desktop_computer.html

Personally, I think everything mac is overpriced, and dell, and hp, and all retail for that matter. :D I pretty much only buy open box/used stuff anymore. Full retail price is just too much on anything when you can get almost the same thing for 50% less.

Got a busy morning, so I can't check what I usually do, but here's the link to all the ups deals that I use:
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=ups&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72

Look for anything substantially lower than its 'list' price (30% or more), and then search that model elsewhere to get an idea of how much it is new to gauge the value of the deal. Also research the items to make sure they do what you want. And watch out for 230v deals! They're not a bad thing, but won't do much good if you're looking for 120v. Good luck!

Also, that one you linked is a nice model that I believe has sine wave output and should last at least 3 years without a battery replacement.

I only found a Cyberpower unit in the CDW search so I went ahead and ordered the APC from Connection. Thanks for the help. If you see any deals on Synology DS918+ or the 5 bay model, make sure to post it!

I've got some of the cyberpowers and they're not bad--just no apc. ;) Be sure to check out the batteries there in the outlet as you can probably find a battery cheaper than anywhere else. I got 4x $100 apc batteries for my 20yr old 1000va units for just $38/ea. And each battery lasts 5 years, so I've got another 5yrs out of these units if not longer.

I don't usually see nas stuff in the outlet and most of the synology stuff is enterprise (pricey). You can watch these two to find deals on them though:
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=nas&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=synology&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72

It came a couple days ago. I just unboxed it tonight. It's brand new as best I can tell. Everything looks unopened. There are no finger prints on anything, everything was still sealed. Looks brand new.
A forum member cut me a nice deal and sold me a 7700 for $150 and I got that today too.
I've got 16GB of RAM laying around from another project. Picked up a 500GB Intel NVME 600p stick for $50 on Newegg.
It'll be a really nice little shuttle machine - and I know from my experiences at work in a test lab that the Shuttles last FOREVER - long outlasting their usable service life with their reliable lifespan. They are solid products.
This is going to be a really nice machine for my 10 year old daughter's school this year. She made it into a STRETCH program (aka gifted program) and they are going to teach her HTML, Python, and JAVA. I figured if she's going to learn some programming it's only fair to get her a little machine of her own to code on at home.

Awesome. :) You built a serious system on the cheap for sure! Great to know about the Shuttles--I had no idea they were that durable. (y) I hope your daughter is able to use it to it's fullest in her studies--it should last her to college! :D

Yeah, not many deals on ssds in the outlet for a while now since ssd prices have dropped. But on the bigger end of the scale, 8-14TB, there's definitely some to watch.

BAPCSales thread popped up about the $715 2080Ti blower + $20 shipping + tax. For me the total was $778.
    https://www.cdw.com/product/pny-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-11gb-gddr6/5730836?pfm=srh

If you can believe it, I've never done a GPU cooler replacement - don't really plan on doing that now either lol. So yeah - I'm not buying.

But these sub $800 prices for the Ti do bring it down to reality.

Lol I was watching G12/H55 install videos yesterday - as if I was going to buy. On that note though - the "My CDW Advantage" says it provides 5%. That would almost nearly cancel out tax. Is there a catch to this?

Yes, the catch is that is the max discount for very high volume and for new stuff. My outlet prices don't drop much from the one online and I've had an account since the 1990s.

The whole salees tax thing is something that all online companies should have been doing from day one. It's sad that a lot of retail outlets went out of business because online companies were cheating by not collecting taxes. One of the reasons we stuck with CDW (we used to buy from Insight as well) was because they started charging tax many years ago. The state does use tax audits where they will come after a few years and check all business purchases for the last few years for any non-taxed items where use tax wasn't paid, and when you can show that the vendors all collected tax, those audits go very smoothly.

Dell Poweredge T140 server for $673 that's normally $900+ in the same config. I think it's got 1-2 more drops in it too:
    https://www.cdw.com/product/dell-pe-t140-e-2124-8gb-bstk/5730082?pfm=srh

HP Z4 Gen4 Workstation for $810 that's normally $1200. I think this too has at least 1 more drop in it:
    https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-sb-z4-g4-2102-1-8-w10p-bstk/5666855?pfm=srh
    https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-sb-z4-g4-2102-1-8-w10p-bstk/5667033?pfm=srh

They have one more too currently at $899 that we know will drop to at least $810 like the other two:
    https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-sb-z4-g4-2102-1-8-w10p-bstk/5679430?pfm=srh

HP Z6 Gen4 Workstation for $1140 that's normally $1500+ and even goes for $1300+ used. And I believe it's got at least one more drop in it too:
    https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-sb-z6-g4-3106-1-8-w10p-bstk/5722723?pfm=srh

Based on SL stats, I think I'd rather wait for 3800X to show up on CDW. There's a noticeable clock gap for the top20% of chips.

The z6 was a steal. Open box units on ebay were $1400+ when I checked pricing. I didn't check the ebay pricing on the others so I'm curious as to how they stack up. It's amazing how many deals in the outlet can be cheaper than ebay. :)

just a friendly update. My eaton seems to be working great. I haven't touched it and haven't seen any issues. Just working on moving as much as I can to the 240v.

Running 20@ load at ideal I think and still need to move a few items over and at 89% efficiency.

When I get a chance I will post more in another thread with some fun details but that will be a long time since life is kinda crazy atm.

if you come across 12TB+ 7200 RPM SATAs let me know I could use them if its a good deal

I have a Norco 4224 so its SATA and not SAS sadly. Unless can you easily switch it out?

Nothing on 12TBs right now (nothing even in the outlet), there's some good 10TB deals at $170 for HGST enterprise but also sas:
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=10tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc

If 8TB will do, these Seagates will drop in time:
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=8tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc

I'm not sure how hard it would be to swap the backplane or if it might even be sas ready. Could be as simple as changing the hba or might be much more extensive.

I use 9211 and intel expander. The backplanes are SAS to SATA

I have 6TBs so was hoping to find 12TB so I could turn my 6TBs into 2x6TB into striped logical drives. I run Snapraid FYI 5 pairy 9-10 DATA

6TB parity abd 2x3TB/6TB data. I assume you get the idea

Gotcha. I'd keep an eye on the 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16TB drives in the outlet--I've seen some serious deals come through in the last few months:
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=8tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=10tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=12tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=14tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc
    https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=16tb&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc

Most of these have been snatched up, but for those waiting, the few remaining are down to $318. I paid $160 for my 8tb wd easystores, even with 8tb easystores going down to 130 now this is still a great deal for 7200rpm sas drives! If there were 8 available at this price I might have made a ridiculous purchase.

Yeah my card supports sas as well, the Areca ARC-1883ix-16-2G. I will likely upgrade to a proper server chassis moving forward, probably the Supermicro SuperChassis 846E16-R1200B with BPN-SAS2-846EL1 (which as far as I can tell supports both sata and sas drives.) I would need a new cable to connect the the backplane, but that would be it. I will admit I'm a bit over my head as I've never dealt with sas drives, but I believe I'd be able to support all 24 drives (16 existing sata and 8x new sas) on that backplane with my current card.

Man, then this would be a great deal for you. I think it will drop one more time too:
    https://www.cdw.com/product/supermicro-superchas-4u-44bay-1280w/5730045?pfm=srh

SAS drives are no different than working with sata except that sas expanders actually work, lol. And the chassis above has the expanders already so you could swap everything over, and load up 704TB into that thing with 16TB drives.
