haha I can relate, my brother has 3GH/s going and we have the AC going yet it still is warm in here... I hate to think of what it'll be like once I add my 2 GH/s tonight or tomorrow :eek:

I just tried to add a 6950 to a system with 3 existing 5870s and the card appears in device manager but cgminer cannot seem to detect or use it. Any ideas? I'm only trying this because another poster in this thread said he was able to mix 5xxx and 6xxx series cards in one system.
 
Ahh, I solved my problem. Turns out I have to have the DVI dummy dongle on the 6950 on the other DVI port.
 
Yup, I recently bought a pair of XFX 5870s XXX edition for $380 shipped. Doing >460Mhash/s average with the core at 975Mhz and memory underclocked to 205Mhz. I could probably push them harder but I'm waiting on a few other parts to devote more time to it.
 
Anyone used the XFX HD6950 dual fans version before?How about its temp?

I'm looking at it but there's not many reviews that i can find,compare to Asus or MSI products.
 
Don't buy it. Buy Twin Frozr II or the new Sapphire 6950 Toxic edition with the 6970 bios in it.

The XFX won't unlock I am pretty sure of it.

Good! I was going to recommend putting the 6950 in your primary slot, then running the 58s in others!
I thought it wouldn't have mattered which DVI port to use for the dongle!?!

All miners/workers have died for some reason.. all my rigs are connected and hashing, but it shows 0hash on your site, and there is no display of anyone mining..

All MSI products are out of stock.Same with Asus except the DirectCU version.Also there's no Sapphire here.

The only one left is the XFX. :(

That happens to the site every now and then but mining keeps going on in the background.

Well,we don't have official distributor here.So we in fact have Sapphire products,but they are bought in Singapore or the US then brought back with no warranty.

Also,all the 5/7 years or lifetime warranty is converted into 3 years warranty here (except the Seasonic M12II and X line with 5 years).

Kinda suck to buy overpriced,multi-taxes products with reduced warranty time.

Edit:Just had to stop the miner so my GPU can take a break.It's September 1st and the ambient temp is still around 35 degrees Celsius.

Just a sql replication issue. I'm working on it along with the new site which merges all coins and a variety of pool types into one hub. Once I have that ready, I'll likely be getting even more powerful servers (or go to the ec2 cloud for on-demand performance).

I have an idea I want to throw out to see if anybody is interested in putting some GPUs in my rig:

I have an SR2 that folds 24/7 on the dual hex core Xeons. It's in a well ventilated Lian Li chassis with a good Enermax 1050W PSU. I would love to have some good gaming GPUs in there for the rare opportunities I get to play games. I'm thinking about 6950, 6970, 5870, or some of the dual GPU cards. I've been playing Deus Ex a bit lately, and plan on picking up some of the games coming out later this year.

It has 7 PCIe X16 slots, but I don't think the whole pci-e riser method would work for me, so I can only fit 4 dual slot cards.

So, I'm wondering if somebody that has some decent GPUs wants to "rent" space in my SR2. I have cheap power here, around 6 cents per kwh. It would cost me a lot of extra A/C power to offset the heat produced, so maybe I would charge 7c per kwh. The cards would mine 24/7 except for my (very limited) gaming sessions. I would keep track of any downtime and net that out of your "bill".

If anybody is interested in such an arrangement let me know!

If you're in Malaysia, just go to Imbi Plaza and hit up the official Sapphire distributor.
It's where I got my cheap 5830s from :)

I decided against the cloud in the long run. I get better pricing on dedicated hardware without having to worry about all the little cloud issues. That said if I ever get to the level of deepbit I may go the route of the cloud just for the dynamic resizing.

That said, I just rented 2 more 8core xeon servers. More bandwidth, more ram, more storage.

lots of read outs and well designed page, and a pool you can trust the operator.. Aside from minor site hiccups, its works very well, and the admin is almost always around for questions, concerns, and ideas for the page.

also, no mining fees

Thanks, I appreciate that. That said, the new servers should alleviate some of those hiccups. The biggest hiccups now are the locks being overly pessimistic (much better now), hung replication for stats (script is almost ready), and the solidcoin client hard locking. All of which are being worked out as quickly as I can get to them.
 
Playing devil's advocate so don't get offended. I'll speak about BTC Guild since that's the pool I have the most experience with.

I actually find the site lacking information. There are no charts plotting the pool's against your own hash rate and coin production. There is no breakdown of everyone's stats when a particular block is found. Many times the pool has reported blocks as found when in fact it didn't find them.

Hmm, check the last 10+ pages of posts of this thread. You'll see lots of issues with the website going down and a subsequent apology from tsd. That's not to say BTC Guild hasn't had any issues. They've been ddos'd in retaliation for banning several hundred thousand IPs belonging to a botnet among other things but there have been consistent server upgrades.

Ditto for BTC Guild.

The only upside I see with this smaller pool is the benefit of seeing a larger payout when the pool finds a block. This benefit is purely psychological though since this pool does not find blocks on a regular basis due to their small size (obviously). The unit of measure is days per block whereas at BTC Guild things are measured in blocks per day.

There's also the fact that it is a non-pps pool. You only get paid for whatever portion you contributed of the last 902K shares the pool submitted before a block is found. They call it rewarding 24/7 miners, I call it punishing people who don't have a reliable connection to the pool. When you add the fact that the site and stats reporting often goes down. Well, you get my point.

The nutshell is that small pools wait longer for payouts.
While I dont deny the site has issues, they are getting worked out, and its nice to have the admin on hand.
The layout is all preference. If tsd would like to try and appease everyone, he could add in the readouts Lorien is talking about. No one will complain about having too much info as long as its tastefully added to the site. Any new pool is gonna have issues to work out.
Each pool has its own benefits.. Some love PPS, some dont.. The pool is reliable enough to work out good for me.

And no, I wasnt saying other pools are dishonest.. Just that I would trust a 10yr [H] member over a random pool owner.
 
the only reason I'm on simple is because of the [H] owner. There are better sites all the way around out there, but I like helping out a member of the [H]orde.
