Currently simplecoin is setup to reward 24/7 miners that stick with the pool.
The next BIG feature should allow me to run mulitple coins with separate pplns, prop, maxpps scoring pools available
Multiple coins will come first, followed by payout method.

Switched a chunk of my mining over to solidcoin. Unlike the other imitators, solidcoin has actually made some significant improvements over bitcoin. Hopefully it gains in momentum.
I setup my miners to rotate between pools. since btc & sc are nearing equilibrium in value/difficulty.
Not that I know of. I just watch the btc/sc exchange on moonco.in

But that doesn't tell you anything about whether it's worthwhile to mine SC vs. BTC, does it?
The calculation isn't too tough...
(32 SC per block/21515 difficulty)/(50 BTC per block/1805701 difficulty)*0.0155 BTC/1 SC
So right now...
32/21515*1805701/50*0.0155 = ~83% of BTC mining rate
Hmm, not so good for solidcoins.
Still, think I'll mine up a batch and see where the value goes.

And solidcoin values seem to be dropping. Huge drop today. Reminds me of the trends for ix and i0. If people actually pick up on Solidcoin because of it's merits and not because it's the latest low difficulty fad to mine before it crumbles, it might stand a chance.

So I officially invested in a mining rig... i had 3 6950's and returned 2 when the value went from like $20 to $10... I decided to get back into mining after careful consideration determining where the $ would be best spent... so I invested into 8 6850's and and i3 with motherboard for $110 more, then a corsair 850w PSU... pair that with my existing asrock x58 with the 6950 and I'll have 9 video cards hopefully pulling in around 2 G/hs. I told myself with all the rabates and games i can sell that they came with, it was worth it.
Still my conscious is telling myself I am well over $1500 invested and it is definitley risky, but hey hi-risk has the potential for high-yield right? and with only a limited amount of these being released it in theory should inflate like the cash that we have does... hopefully with time they become more valueable... i only wish I got on this sooner when it was really profitable...

On a side note who uses Mt. Gox and then transfers the sold BTC cash value to Dwolla? i am using it and i remember it saying it should only take 24 hrs to transfer... its been a decent bit longer than that so lets just say i'm slightly worried... so can anyone that has used it let me know how long it normally takes to transfer?

The features I think make it a better system is the more frequent blocks (32 SC every 3 minutes, nominally), frequently changing difficulty (every 240 blocks or ~12 hours), the 10% difficulty increase cap every 12 hours, and faster block confirmations since a block is found every ~3 minutes.
It normally only takes a few hours from mtgox to dwolla. Dwolla to my bank on the other hand normally takes several days.
It's pretty ballsy. I'm not sure if you did the math but at current prices it's going to take you ~6 months just to payoff your hardware.

I calculate the payoff a little differently. I assume I'll lose 50% of the value of all hardware and only count this as capital. Of course, the math gets a little ouch if you overpaid for the vid cards (I paid ~$92 for my 5830s).

Any of you guys get tired of explaining to people with high end AMD cards that mining is a good thing? I have and now I will no longer try. Thanks i found out Mt Gox is having an issue if you read on their website with pending transfers and hope to have it fixed shortly. As far as how long it'll take to pay off, depends how you look at it, Although my initial money spent was ~$1600 I'm looking at about ~$1100 invested after all said and done (after selling the games that came with them and getting the rebates total would be around $100 per card, plus PSU, CPU, and mother board) , so even if I get half from selling everything that puts me right now $550 in the hole... so figure after electricity i make $7-$10 a day. Investment should be covered in a couple months tops. Then comes profit... God willing
Yea I bought fairly inexpensive cards for that reason... Flagship stuff loses its edge quick, where as stuff that isn't top of the line doesn't put you in the hole for depreciation as much... yup I learned this working retail and buying a nice TV young... Amazing how fast technology changes and can make a TV go from $2500 to under $1000 in a year or 2
I'm going to have to check out the marketplace... never read up on what people are saying...

The other day I saw a normal ASUS 5870 1GB sell for $350ish with shipping on Ebay. The way I figure it, I can still cash out in the next few months and still make a profit on the hardware.
I meant my personal luck winning blocks....
We did have one 60k round, but we've had several short rounds too.

Yeah, the prices AMD cards are going for right now is in a serious state of flux. I've been buying quite a few cards, keeping the best ones, and reselling the ones I don't want for considerably more than I bought them for. eBay and USPS are loving me right now.

If you want some great overclocking 5870s for cheap, look for the unbranded system pull ones that have backplate that extends way out the back. Like this (not my auction)...

I bought two of them for $210 shipped each and they're mining along at 1000/350 at stock voltage.
Sold off all of the 5830s I got for $80 after rebate and selling the free game cards they came with for $125 each.
Sold the Eyefinity 6 card I picked up in trade for my reference 6950 for $325. Didn't really want to overclock past 930 core...bleh.
Picked up a refurbished 6970 for $260 a couple of months ago (yay, 10% off eBay coupon) and flipped that one for $300.
Got a couple of ASUS 5870 V2s on the way. Paid $300 each for them, but I watched a bunch of them go for $350+. Might keep those two in my main box since the improved cooler should let me keep temps down.
Been eyeing the Sapphire 6950 Toxic for gaming, though. Looks like those are pretty good overclockers and have unlocked shaders with the flip of a switch, so wouldn't give up too much in mining power on those. And the Sapphire cards come with a bunch of free games, so I'd be selling those (except for one copy of Deus Ex for me!) to make 'em even cheaper.

I may try to snag 4x5870s that you posted, or maybe some Sapphire 5850s off eBay. Thats my problem right now, I don't really want to get 6870s, and I don't want to spend the extra cash for 8x6950, especially the 1gb models that can't unlock shaders.

I'm the same way as you ^ I didn't want to buy a bunch of different cards... thats why i bought 8x 6850's... at around $100 a piece after rebates and selling what they came with they are only just over a 1/3 of what my 6950 cost me...and i should be pulling about 200 m/hs per 6850 and my 6950 was pulling around 350 m/hs... so I told myself more 6850's was the way to go...
That is correct... I had to take into account PSU CPU and motherboard cost as well, but you also have to take into account power usage... My PSU can only power a few 6950's where as it could more 6850's and I'm trying to max out my system in the cheapest most effecient way... between my brother and I we are using about all the power we can in my apartment so i had to figure the best way to utilize our small breakers...
BTW for #'s sake 3 6950's pulled in about 1 G/hs at $875 while 5 6850's pull in 1 G/hs at a cost of $500 or less, even adding another $200 for CPU/PSU/motherboard only puts me at $700.... power consumption for that quantity of each card is around the same it was a no brainer for me...

I see you wern't refferring to the 6950's... at the time when I looked at my options 6850's seemed to be the best deal that were in stock... how much $ did the 5830's run you ? i checked on newegg and i'm not getting a price because they are out of stock. I expect the 6850's to realistically pull in somewhere around 220-240 mh/s where has your 5830's should pull in around 285-300 mh/s
