BioShock Infinite

Anything I need to know from the last two bioshocks before I play ?

Never played them

So 17 minutes then this game unlocks? Just want to play already!

Steam still says approx 1 hour for me. If I remember right it usually says something like "approx 20 minutes" instead of just rounding up to 1 hour. Wonder if it'll be unlocked at an odd time like 9:47.

I would think it would be 12 EST.

Yeah that's what I'm assuming. Have my bottle opener in hand, waiting for release!

Going to move this to my SSD as soon as its done updating. Need that SSD speed!

I restarted steam and now it refuses to start, wtf? It just runs in the backround and does nothing.

I fixed it, Steam ate up all my HDD space :(. I had 15GB free on that SSD (game already d/led) and somehow steam ate it all up for unlocking it...

Nvidia has a new driver out for bioshock, in case anyone missed it:
(64 bit edition)
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-314.22-whql-driver.html

Going to install it and see how it works.

Also anyone else think the mouse sensititivty is a bit high? The game defaulted at just two ticks from the left for me and it was already high, moving it tot he right makes it even faster.

One tick over is ok, two ticks (closest to the left) is really slow though, so there's not really much edge room.

mouse sensitivity is definitely too high on my g400, I almost had to go all the way to the left (and it was already pretty close).

Game is awesome so far, played 45 slow minutes because I wanted to explore. Beautiful game, have everything almost on very high and it seems to play pretty good. Cant wait to play more!

Damn having to go to bed for work.

What a damn good looking game. One of the best opening scenes for a game I've ever seen.

50 minutes and got the devils kiss. The game is pretty good, i had to take in the atmosphere and it is brilliant.

Some numbers if anyone cares:

1080p, Ultra Preset:

Min: 17
Max: 292
Avg: 123

1080p, Ultra + DDOF Preset:

Min: 13
Max: 265
Avg: 106

1440p, Ultra Preset:

Min: 11
Max: 328
Avg: 85

1440p, Ultra + DDOF Preset:

Min: 12
Max: 317
Avg: 69

Think this one's going to need a bit more optimization. I keep getting some fair slowdowns with VSYNC on. Turned it off, smoothed right out, but dammit I hate screen tearing.

Yep, that proves it for me. Needs some optimization.

Apparently increasing the pool size in one of the ini files helps with the stutters/minimums but I haven't tried it yet.

i get good frame rates with the benchmark but then see some stuters if I keep it at very high.

so far its been pretty fun, although i watched a video on pcgamer telling me to play on hard.. but fuck that. ive died like 5 times.

at 1440p i am getting a constant 60 fps.

i have post processing at normal, and dynamic shadows at normal. looks absolutely beautiful and i get 60 fps all the time. pretty happy with that.

Hey guys can someone tell me what is going on in the beginning with the baseball scene? I just let the timer expire. But I am wondering, are they criminals or is this what people did at 1912? Or did I miss reading/seeing something about this.

Played it for a few hours.

I have to say this game is breathtaking, one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.

It's like the complete opposite of Rapture (but in a good way). Super bright vibrant colors, sun rays filtering through things. "Bright" is the word I would use to describe it, everything has this kind of shimmering quality to it. Whereas Rapture was dank and wet art Deco, this is shimmering bright Americana.

I spent the first hour of the game just walking around, exploring the things leading up to where the combat starts. listening to all the npc conversations, etc.

Some things I'm surprised no one talked about, such as how they show children smoking and other things.

Combat is a blast, especially with the skyhook thing. Melee is fun, and the executions look so visceral.

Really enjoying the game so far.

Took quite a few screens playing through, things that just looked great/interesting:

No they didn't do that normally in 1912.

I think the point of that scene is to show how the city had seceded and had took a different (backwards) approach when it came to racism.

Don't get me wrong, racism very much existed in the US back then, they even still had public hangings, but it wasn't normal for things like that baseball scene to happen.

I think that point was to give you a choice, do it or not.

There's an FOV slider in the games options, or does this just make it go higher then even that?

I always find it funny gamers want a wider view. Yet a ton of them own 16:10 monitors which is narrower view then 16:9.

They want a comfortable view, regardless of the aspect ratio of their monitor (which is meaningless when there's a FOV control).

The Eyefinity/Surround support in this game is quite nice.

I wish the game saved more often though.

Zero mouse problems here. Turn off accel and all was good.

Your post made me literally SMH.
