Battlefield 6

Don't you all remember the real name of the BF games? My brothers call it "Betafield" and would joke all the BF games aren't playable good until like one year of patches. So the best time to buy a new BF game is like a year after release.

Stop whining about how you can’t afford a $70.00 game. We get it. You made poor life choices. You can’t afford nice things. Just go crawl off into hole and die already and let the enthusiasts talk.

Totally fine with servers having bots that filled in till humans joined. I wish servers did that back in the BF3/4 days because being all alone (sad face) on Gulf of Oman while waiting for other players to join bored me fast, lol.
It also gives you a good feeling killing bots that you don't actually suck. 😂

That's what we have today, games being released in a broken, buggy state, maybe playable maybe not. If you're lucky it's somewhat fixable with a big patch in the first week or two, or up to a year as with 2042.

That's so they can meet their 100 million players 😂
I think they do it on purpose, famous streamers make money from it, record videos of glitches, OP weapons, etc... I think DICE does all of that on purpose.Whoever makes a preorder doesn't mind anyway, the game is still in playable condition.

I'm sorry, but why are people so adamantly against enabling secure boot? It was enabled by default on my new motherboard and I never touched it.

low level system access for anti-cheat sounds like a problem just waiting to happen

Disabled by def for me on my mobo. Had to go enable it, was not a big deal.
No it wasn't, I wanted to be sure what I was getting into and if there were any downsides though. I'm happy that I didn't need to enable VBS and HVCI, both of which can affect performance. I found that out by testing it on 2042, which uses EA's anti-cheat.

Not sure, I just enabled it. Can get the beta to load with it. Does not require TPM enabled. I think people assume it requires TPM and or bit locker?

Secure Boot is fucking me badly. X570 Aorus Master - drives are already GPT. Disable CSM support, enable Secure Boot, Standard to Custom and back to Standard to reset Secure Boot keys. System will boot into Windows exactly 1 time. After this, the system will black screen on the Windows login and requires a CMOS reset and the above steps to be redone every time I want to boot.

Minor victory update - if the display port is unplugged when I reboot and I plug it in when it hits the login screen, I don't have a black screen.

I read complaints it can lead to a backdoor to your PC if EA is compromised but I also think the people complaining are kinda sketchy too. The cheating/hacker community is rather large so f 'em.

I think people are cautious because this is a first time a game is asking to flip switches in the bios.

yeah, its not just cheaters thinking this low level access is potentially a prob....

It does have the potential to cause problems, one of which is causing your computer not to boot under certain situations, I'm curious how bios updates are going to go. Hardware or software components not compatible with secure boot can cause instability or performance problems, dual booting can cause problems, it's a fairly long list. It's not all unicorns and fairy dust.

If you have Windows 11, TPM must be turned on. That's its main feature. Now when updating the bios for MBO, it should be turned off. Now what EA does through that TPM and what it can or can't do, I have no idea. Hackers mostly find a way to make cheats for the game and hack.

You can access the testing range. I know the lighting might not be good here, but this looks quite awful, all settings turned up to the max. Even the weapons don't look that good, kind of like a bad sharpen filter in Photoshop was applied over it. Animations are not terrible but still disappointing. They look more jerky and the hands move abnormally fast in certain animations like the shotgun animations. A bit disappointing to see that Call of Duty MW 2019 and 2022 are still the best in the industry. I was hoping the upcoming BF game would reach the standards of the 2019 CoD game.

Pistol continues the tradition of being a bit too close to the players face. Again, CoD MW19 did that better and pushed it out a bit further. BF soldiers must have tyrannosaurus arms.

Hopefully the proper maps have better lighting. If not, I can see why the system requirements are low...

Secure boot is just to protect your OS from unsigned code being loaded into the kernel at startup (because some advanced cheats will load into the kernel during the boot before the anti-cheats can run, and masquerade as legit code).

Unless you're some developer testing weird stuff or run a non-compatible OS distrib, it is harmless and impact-less to everyone as it impacts only the boot process. Modern machines have it on by default with Win 11, and Win 10 is compatible but if you had CSM on because of an ancient install, yeah you're gonna have a bad time potentially.

To note that it's often "enabled" but not "active" for whatever reason, EA just made a lot of people aware of that, myself included. One point to EA/DICE.

They're also really nice for supporting the EOL 10 year old Windows 10, by the way. They took Pascal GPUs off the list, even though their support ends around the same time as Win 10.

As for the queue, that's less nice. I wonder how long it will take to ease up. Morning in Europe... did not expect to see a queue at all. Wtf.

Wtf is the point of the queue, I got in a match and there is 50 bots and 10 players?!

At least now it says "AI" next to the bots, they don't try to cover it up.

Took about 45 minutes to get in. played for a couple of hours. I enjoyed it.
Going to try and play some more this evening.

This is BF V like, set in modern times, gameplay wise. Personally, I am cool with it, I love how it plays, but I am not sure it is quite what it will take to revive the BF franchise. Like, there's not really much new and stuff. Would love the return of 2 seat planes and runways like BF2 :(

Graphically it looks really dated though, essentially not much different from BF V. No RTX, nothing. The game isn't smooth despite really high fps, so there is micro stuttering. Just beta thing I'd imagine.

I guess they really want it to be accessible, but it's a bit sad at the same time to see DICE not pushing the bar with new tech.

Only got a few minutes of gameplay in but it works fine for me. Graphically there is no ray tracing but I wonder if that's due to the destruction? Anyways, I think it looks good still. Definitely need more game time in tho.

They need server browsers. Please tell me that's coming and it won't be like 2042 that didn't have them.
Yes, that would be good, Battlefield 1 suited me the best in every way, and I played most of the older ones.

I don't have early access so I can't play, I can only log in now and do the training, it looks pretty bad graphically, the mouse wheel doesn't work at all, I can't switch to the gun, mostly pretty bad.

It's not very affordable, the regular version on Steam is 70 euros and the phantom is 100 euros, it looks like a 5 euro game to me, you buy it, try it a little and that's it, just like what I did with bf2042.
I don't know why they can't or don't want to make Bad Company 3 with a completely different engine, change the graphics, etc.And then it should be current for at least 2-3 years, if not more. So even if it costs 70 euros, at least it should be good.
This is too much now.

A 5 euro game? You can't be serious.

Apparently server browsers is for portal only. What was the last BF game to have server browsers? Any idea why they moved away from custom servers? You'd think it would be a money making opportunity.

Well i enabled it on my system as curiosity got the best of me and got burned. My sig rig is now basically bricked. The motherboard wont even post now.

They don't want people to continue playing it when they shut it down.

How blown away were you sporting to be at the testing range?
