Battlefield 6

I had that bug on my 4k monitor, but not the 1440p one, where it shows the text correctly. I think UI is fairly buggy, I also had a zoomed in map in game for no reason, until it wasn't anymore.
I am connected to my LG C3 4k OLED but running it at 1440p. So it does not work with a 4k monitor? Bummer.

To me Battlefield is about the VEHICLES #1, and the first person shooter aspect on foot secondary.

I love hopping in a tank and traveling across the map shooting at bases, or being the gunner in the tank is my fav spot. Same with helicopters, I like being the gunner as an engineer and repairing it at the same time.

For me Battlefield is all about big outdoor maps with lots of vehicles. And just being the soldier is ok, but gets boring.

Well, it's about attacking and defending objectives #1. However, if you players who go for kills instead of playing as a team/putting that resource to use, then your team will lose every time. I love vehicles, don't get me wrong, but I love winning more!

Nah, whatever it is, its situational. I've only had the issue once today, 1440p, and it happened to be the last time i launched. Been fine rest of day and I expect it will be again.

What? Who said I don't want to follow the objectives and win the game?

I just like doing it in a vehicle like a tank the most and then get to the flag get out capture the flag / objective and then hop back into a tank and go to the next base to take it over.

That's the way I like to play

And I'm most fun is going between objectives I like huge gigantic open spaces and would love to see a dozen tanks on the hill versus a dozen of my tanks shooting it out with several helicopters flying overhead shooting missiles at us.

No custom server browsers or any server browser whatsoever in 2042 was one of my biggest gripes against that game.

In 2042 you just clicked conquest and it automatically threw you into a game server that you had no options or choice to look at which map, or how many players are on there, or seeing the ping, etc... I couldn't believe they did that in 2042.

And now that continues again and BF6? Ugh major letdown.
Same cheap experience as every other F2P game on the market. Honestly why waste money on this slop when there are so many other options for a quick MP game that doesn't cost you a cent unless you want to support the developer.

I’m enjoying the game. I do hope there will be larger maps when the game is released or soon after but so far I like what I’m seeing.

Feels pretty Battlefield'y

Holy shit is this game CPU heavy though

I've seen my 9950x3d at 80+

I havent seen quite that high but I suspect it’s because I have a frame cap. I am seeing well into the 60s though. Will be interesting to see if a 9950x3d holds any advantage over a 9800x3d in this game. I suppose I could test it myself by disabling the frequency CCD but hopefully someone less lazy than me does it before curiosity gets the best of me.

I did not do a proper test, but with the 360hz screen I'm getting pretty much 100% usage on the vcache CCD of the 9950X3D (for now I have the game pegged to it). That's with a 4090 and heavy DLSS of course.

I cannot swap affinity on the fly because of the anti-cheat though, so testing is difficult when I have to restart the game and then potentially get in a very different match. When I did try assigning the game to the enitre CPU, the load was well spread (60-70% load per core or so) but it did not seem much smoother, but then maybe I was running into a GPU limit at that point. I might look into it again but eh, it's also not the latest build of the game and probably not worth the hassle before release.

Yeah I had the FPS uncapped. It was like 160-210~ FPS most of the time. Give or take some.

Interestingly, if you open the performance thing in game, it says it has 28 threads allocated of 32.

Honestly, I'm not sure the game looks the part performance wise. There's just a LOT of stuff happening ALL the time. It's not very clean graphically, honestly - there's just so much fucking clutter and dust and debris and shit absolutely everywhere at all times. It looks... alright, but I'm not really blown away at all.

Also the Nvidia app doesn't seem to capture this game correctly. I took a handful of clips but somehow it only captured at 720p. I checked the settings and they look fine. I've used it a million times for other games.

Sign up for Battlefield Labs, think that is over though.

Got in for around 40 minutes. Will play it more later. Some things I like, some things not so much. Not liking ammo limits for vehicles though that is more realistic. RPG-7s reload a bit too quick, on Domination I'm doing too good with them. For Conquest, they're a bit too good against vehicles due to rate of reload. The one Conquest map I got into was too small. Not enough tanks/IFVs. Helicopter, could not shoot with space for some reason. Recall that being the rocket button in BF3/4. Seemed like I needed to use the mouse which isn't viable. Seems like medic gets rifle, pistol, shotgun and grenade launcher at once.

No server browser, except in portal apparently. Lame. UI sucks and is bloated with junk, when I get an unlock there seems to be no quick way to edit my weapon/loadout without exiting to the main menu. Runs nicely, though I had one graphical issue that made it impossible to see until it went away.

Graphically, this game looks ugly and dated. Blurry and like it has a horrid sharpen filter. Even the textures aren't that good. Is there some setting I need to turn off? I genuinely looks bad. I don't mind that it may not be the latest graphically though the blurriness and motion blur (check screen shot 5) when reloading combined with the ugly sharpen look is just not good looking. I understand not needing ray tracing, but this just looks dated, no wonder it uses so little VRAM and has low system requirements.

I’m playing 2042 now and it actually looks just as good as these pictures, plus 2042 has ray tracing to make things pop. I've read a number of the posts and my take away is this just doesn't pass the smell test. Why they are using the same frostbite engine (with tweaks here and there) that's been used since Bad Company is beyond me, I've seen what the UE5 engine can do and it looks a hell of a lot better than what I've been seeing with BF6. If this is close to the finished product it's going to be another 2042 launch.

The beta was relatively small download. Would not be surprised if we don’t have full res textures yet.

I dunno what all the fuss is about, but damn it, it feels good.

Been a few quad kill C4 tosses, been a couple torch meet tank, tank goes goodbye, and a jihad jeep into a tank.

Im having a ball. I have not had a game in the past 2 years that I can play, with out just turning it off after the first round.

Yeah there's some glitches/bugs, but the past 5 hours I've put into this beta, I can say I'm fine with sending them 100 bucks.

If anyone's down to squad up, let me know!!

The BF3 engine looked amazing, BF4 looked a bit better. BF1 had some nice improvements. After that they seemingly were unable to make big strides in graphical enhancements. Probably the core development team is gone, and making improvements might be getting harder. The thing is photogrammetry seems to be gone (or the execution was poor), the terrian does not look as good as BF1 or Battlefront. BF5 had ray tracing, this does not. It just looks dated. The bloom looks pretty bad. I'll even say, BF4 looked a bit better in some ways though is overall mod dated. But the BF6 beta looks more like a game from 2018 or so. The lighting and textures leave a lot to be desired.

I turned off motion blur, I found a sharpen setting. Maybe turning that off will help... but does this look like a AAA game from 2025 to you?

It seems like you can occasionally get hit blips without actually doing damage to someone, which is annoying.

And sometimes some players are randomly SUPER jittery.

Also parachutes are weird as hell, you accelerate like crazy. Like I jumped off a building and was cruising at like 100mph within a few seconds.

Yeah I turned some shit down and it was much clearer. The colors still suck though.

Cant login in, and when it does it crashes. I know its peak time but annoying.

Like look how good Battlefront looks. From TEN years ago!

The BF6 visuals are a huge swing and a miss IMO so far.

I don't get the hub bub over the graphics. What game in the past years since the Xbox x and PS5 came out, have pushed graphics?

That is long gone now that consoles are the norm.

Well it’s BF. Which typically pushes boundaries since it’s not an annual release like COD. That said some people are confusing graphical quality with colors/art work. Super Mario 3D world on my Switch 2 has nicer colors than BF6 but graphically it’s not even close.

No this defiantly does not look like a AAA game or a next gen game, it looks very similar to BF2042, although 2042 had RT which added a nice touch, I almost could pass this picture off as BF4 really. Maybe it'll be better on release, but being a beta you would think they would want to show to people that the game looks good so they buy it. I have a high expectation for graphics, I don't run a high end PC to push subpar graphics of previous generations. From everything I've seen and heard, I wont be paying $70 to buy this, not until I see evidence that the game is actually a AAA next gen game.

What constitutes AAA next gen game? It seems like an arbitrary label, which to you means little to nothing more than graphics. At least that’s the only criteria you mentioned.

Yeah gameplay is huge, but so is graphics, whats the point of playing a game that looks like its the same as previous gens. Hey look if you think it's great have at it, I don't really give a shit.

I think that looks better than anything I've seen in BF6 so far. Two months is not a lot of time for major changes. The Conquest maps are... way too small, with way too few vehicles. I hope there are Conquest Large versions of them because there are maybe 3 ground vehicles per map, excluding the jeeps. The pictures of some of the other maps look like dense urban areas. Only two (one being a BF3 map) look to be big enough to support more than a few vehicles. Playing with the vehicles sucks, too cluttered and too many narrow roads.

I played Battlefront 2, that was a awesome game, great gameplay and graphics.

I mean these are like literally the smallest maps so.

I think they'd play better at 16v16 at least.

Not sure how you managed to make the game look that blurry. These are taken on high settings with DLAA. Graphics aren't ground breaking, but they aren't bad either.

The spawning in this game is insane

I cannot recall ever having people spawn directly on top or in front of me nearly as much in any other Battlefield

Was hoping for better performance with a 4080. I guess thats what I get for playing at 4k. Getting about 90 fps on low settings, 70 on ultra. dlss on quality boosts me about 20 fps. So now I'm playing on high with dlss quality and getting 90 fps. gpu-z showing gpu usage at about 95% so doesn't seem to be a cpu issue.

Will have to check and see what it is set to. I think it was TAA. Still, looks worse than typical TAA or really anything. Your screens do look better though.

There are only 9 maps at launch though. If this article is right, two are infantry only. Seems like there maybe be three BF3/4 sized Conquest maps, and one old one (four total). I don't mind infantry only maps like Close Quarters, but the vehicle maps we have in the beta are quite bad and feel like infantry only maps so I'm pessimistic. I'd say they're a bit too big for infantry only, but too small/limiting for vehicles.

This is why a server browser is important though. If I want to play with vehicles, I'd like to set a filter for the four big maps.

Whose god damn idea was it to not allow you to change settings in the firing range.

Imagine wanting to change something like sensitivity without backing out and going back in.

How shit like this makes it past QA boggles my mind.

Same with changing your weapon. It's one key to get into that menu, then you need to hit escape like 7 times to get back in game. Why.

Found two more annoying settings, vignette and chromatic aberration which were on by default. Disabling that as well as film grain greatly cleaned up the graphical clarity. There seems to be an extra sub menu in the graphic settings. Not sure why those are on by default in a fast paced shooter. Only thing I can see bug wise is vehicle zoom and switching to external view. Seems like there is a lag/delay and sometimes it just won't let me change magnification levels.

Not sure why those settings exist in any game. All are forms of visual distortion. I disabled all three even before the game unlocked.

Don't be afraid to try DLSS Perf at 4k, it looks nice and sharp with Transformer model. Though you might run into CPU limits there.

I noticed after playing conquest for an hour last night that my CPU usage slowly crept up from 60% to 95% and the game was real stuttery. I didn't have that issue while playing domination for an hour. Aside from that the game feels fine. I'll probably get it.

Is conquest with 64 players? 32+32
