Battlefield 6

I guess my biggest problem with this game is the ridiculous spotting and minimap. If you are even remotely in any action, you are spotted like 100% of the time and people are looking at the mini-map so much, they are pre-firing where you are constantly. This game is basically who hits who first wins ADD fest. Like zero strategy/flanking. Just zerg zerg.

Just use a silencer, it's basically the only viable option unless you enjoy dying or getting shot though smoke grenades

It's one of the dumber mechanics in the game

I think hardcore does away with all that right? That leaves you with game sense and reflexes and aiming skill etc. Give it a try?

Spotting isn't that much of a problem, just don't use anything other than flash hider or silencers. In world spotting for most of the attachments is kind of dumb though as it makes anything beyond flash hider and silencers virtually unusable. I exclusively use silencers as the benefit of players not hearing where you are is massive, when trying to get the drop on several people. Afaik silencers are 15m and the flash hider is 75 meters spotting on the mini map, but no in world spotting. Being on the mini map is generally not a problem either as long as you are full HP, just play smart and win the aim duel. Hitting first has benefits, but it doesn't guarantee the kill, especially at 20m or more. Good use of cover, recoil control and having a weapon that is suited for the range is more important than getting the first hit.

Being pre-fired can be just as much sitting in a common spot as it is being on the mini map. Decent players will clear corners, check common camping spots and pre-aim common defensive spots regardless of players being on the mini map or not. You don't appear on the mini map until you fire or someone use the spot button and they still have to push you, so it isn't like you can't take them out if you position and aim well.

Dolby Atmos for headphones is a must in this game, as it lets you hear where the enemies are moving very accurately. With the stock sound, the reverb and sound levels makes it kind of confusing where the enemies are. With Atmos you can hear where they are running within a few degrees and have a good understanding of the distance to the footsteps.

The problem is some guns are just uncontrollable so you generally need to put everything into recoil management. A suppressor makes some guns recoil too much. Some work well with it though. I don't really like the attachment balancing. IMO there is really only 1 viable build for most weapons. In MW19/22 I could have multiple builds of the same weapon with different handling characteristics. I also don't like the kitbashing route they're kind of going with BF6 but it is still a whole lot better than MW19/22 in that area.

I would prefer if they went the BF4 route. The "M4" by default is a MK18, make that a separate weapon. Just reduce the grind or make the level progress both. That way we can viably have different MK18 builds if necessary and different M4 builds if we desire.

Completely avoidable. I cringe when I think back how dangerous I was when I was a young driver with fast sports car and hope that my children will learn not to speed.

Does this make sense to anyone? At one point I progressed the battle pass and got enough battle pass tokens to get to ultimate, and it even said in game that I unlocked golden valor (mini scout) which I was kind of looking forward to. I went to equip it and couldn't, said I needed to unlock the previous tier? Makes no sense. I even went to the previous tier, completed challenges to get more tokens, and it didn't progress at all, I got probably 13 tokens and the previous tier (or ultimate for that matter) did nothing.

Seriously? That still doesn’t explain why earning new tokens isn’t finishing off the current tier.. or does it? What am I missing..
the way it's supposed to work is you finish ALL 4 (22 unlock each) 1st before moving forward. IDK how you managed to skip.

0 information on season 2 which is so close? ( Assuming it starts immediately after s1 ends)

I’m wondering about this too. According to the weekly challenges week 12 (this week) should be the last one. Maybe they’ll extend it?

The game needs more maps. I hope they plan to bring a lot more, especially better ones for Conquest. I think the new map with the suburbs was quite nice and has at least three heavy ground vehicles per team which is nice. They need to make more maps like that with some good flow. Vehicles can move around yet there is still opportunities to ambush them as infantry. Destruction is also good. They need to make some more maps like that, maybe a bit bigger in overall size. But its a good start.

I am not sure why the TDM version focuses on the lame center in the middle of the map. They should just make it a few blocks of the houses. Goldmud Railway was similar in TDM, as the match went on the structures were typically leveled.

TDM, KoTH, and domination are all a bit too small imo. Probably the best way to farm weapon xp though.

I’m hoping for a hardcore mode.

Conquest.
If you like the Conquest mode give Escalation a try. After 20 years of playing Conquest primarily EA has imo finally made another game mode that's just as good (or even better depending on the map). Flags disappear as you capture them, leading to closer games and the last couple captures can be insanely hectic fun.

there are maps that are way too big for small playercounts like TDM
the brooklyn one for example. to get back in the fight is a MINIMUM 20+ second run.

agree. I stopped playing conquest almost entirely.
I wish the brooklyn conquest/breakthrough only map would be in escalation too :(
I can't do a custom queue where I want escalation only plus conquest that. It'll match me into conquest cairo for example.

it even changes the # and timing of the vehicles compared to conquest.

I can never stop playing conquest because that's where the vehicles /aircrafts are. Battlefield main diffrentiating point is vehicles from other shooters and that's what draws me to the game as I don't even touch COD games never have never will lol.

Bought BF6 at launch and loved it at first, but quickly got bored due to there being only a few large scale vehicle maps. I'm not a fan of the close quarters city maps, those seem more like CounterStrike not Battlefield.

Now I only play once every couple weeks, and just not digging it, because even the "large" maps aren't anywhere near big enough. I want maps that have like a dozen tanks each side, and like 4 choppers per team, with 128 vs 128 players playing on GIGANTIC maps.

some maps have way more vehicles in escalation than conquest after a few minutes

That teaser sucked, they should have a full trailer out by now.

That being said I still play BF6 daily in Conquest and Rush modes. I like Rush as its intense and most games are short at about 15 minutes and map selection is fine for now. As for Conquest it needs moar large maps but I think they need naval maps and vehicles to enhance scale and dynamic play styles.

Is this the one the starts with no vehicles? I played a mode where you get more vehicles as the match progresses. It was okay but I don't like starting as infantry only. Though player count appears to be dropping. I think people expecting this to be the best Fortnite/Arc/whatever were not being realistic, and that crowd has largely moved on. We see this with most MP games. ~80-100,000 is not too bad in terms of numbers if they stay around that number. Also does not account for EA App owners like myself.

I think the biggest problems for the typical player is small selection of maps and the unlocking can be a bit grindy. At least for the new guns. Career unlocks were not too bad. They can easily fix those things.

Yes of course, first thing I did was put one on as soon as it was available. The spotting is still silly stupid.

I guess a few of my thoughts on why the game may not have longevity:

1. Infantry focused gunplay based 90% off of whomever starts shooting first wins the gunfight.
2. Vehicles are crap/boring, leading to shallow gameplay.
3. Unable to turn off cross-play on PC and actually have players to play. Forced play against console auto-aim is the cheesiest shit ever put into an FPS.
In no universe should gamepad/console players make it into the top 5 scoreboard using a crappy gamepad, let alone the top spot. I almost always can tell when I die from a console player, some dweeb hip firing a LMG while strafing and having perfect vaporizing aim. It's actually laughable.
4. I don't care what they say, they haven't fixed the horrendous net-code/server lag at all since launch.
5. "Snipers" aka rock campers having suppression do nothing against them. Basically snipers in this game are annoying little gnats that accomplish nothing towards winning the match and serve no purpose. And if the annoying little gnats do kill you, it's apparently from the head hit-box that makes up 70% of your body. I eliminated Firestorm from my custom game search as all it is is 90% retarded camping snipers and terrible armor taking pot shots at one another with an engineer behind each repairing. It's the lamest shit ever in a BF game.

Man it takes forever to level up weapons in this game. I've got slightly over 100 hours in and only have 2 at 50, the SGX smg and the KTS100 mg. I just completed the battle pass and was mainly focusing on challenges to get that done, so played in a variety of game types with a variety of weapons, still though. I plan to get the Kord 6P67 and the Mini-scout there next. What guns are you all focusing on leveling up?

I only care to get the useful attachments. Typically I can get most of them by level 20 or so. Some do require higher 20s to low 30s. So I have most of them done except DMRs (which are trash generally) and sniper rifles. And pistols. I'll do some of those next time there is double XP. There are a few good attachments at higher levels but those take up more of the allocate-able "points", so I realized I don't really need them in most cases as I would need to remove some recoil reducing attachments to use them.

This is why I don't really like the build process. In MW19/2022 I often had a few different configurations which were good. In BF6, it seems like I can only get 1 optimal build typically.

Yeah for most guns the optimal cfg seems to be vertical foregrip + ext barrel + suppressor + whatever scope you want which you can get most there in the 20s or so. The only gun type I’ve found that makes sense to go all in on mobility is shotguns so far, but maybe it works well with some smg’s.

I’ve had some success with the SVK-8.6 dmr but I agree that they seem weak compared to other options, the first shot is easy but the second while getting sprayed down isn’t. Also it’s weird to me that you don’t get class bonuses using dmr’s or carbines.

I’ve been enjoying sniping lately though and am wondering how much value there is in the anti-glare coating, which for the mini scout is unlocked at level 40.

Anyone else have the bug where you can't type into text chat?

That's a weird bug but no. I don't know if its my mouse or the game but sometimes my assault rifle or other automatic weapon will just keep shooting automatically till the magazine empties or when I switch weapons.

How on Earth we managed to lose this I'll never know. Wildest graph ever.
A few patches back they made the game start to "cheat" for the losing team, where the winning team has their flags drain faster and the losing team has their flags drain slower. (or something like that, I really didn't care enough to pay attention to how it worked - there was some bitching about it in the subs at the time, I don't even know if that's still how it works)
This is probably less of a factor than players leaving and joining mid game, which can cause wilder swings if one team picks up 3-4 really good players while another loses 3-4 good players mid round.

They increased the bleed rate by a lot from holding the majority of capture points. Only the team with less points bleed tickets so if your team has 3 points and your opponent has 2 then your team only drops tickets from people respawning. Basically you can still win a game if your team is in a 150-600 situation as long as you have decent medics and you hold the majority of points for the rest of the game.

The downside to this is that the impact of having a lot of "You first sir! I will just sit in my corner and look after my K/D!" type of players means you will lose by a landslide. Deaths doesn't matter that much either, just the capture points. E.g. you can have a team where everyone has 15 kills and 20 deaths each, they will still win as long as they pounded the capture points and kept the majority for most of the game. Of course a lot of the low K/D guys are also the same that are scared of their own shadow in will sit 5 meters outside the point while a few try to capture it. Then the enemy starts to rush to defend, and can of course respawn on the point because only 3 out of 8 step on the point. That means it takes forever to clear it so they can respawn on it for a long time. Then they take back the point and the stomp continues.

Probably 80% of my games are like that, with one team having 70% of the players who are bad and too busy looking after their shitty stats to actually contribute to the objectives, so it ends in a stomp for either side. The balancing algorithm seems to think that 4-5 strong players can cary 10 useless and 10 kinde useless players. You get on the good team, then you stomp the opponent until the game has increased your rating enough, then it has you try to carry the useless team. Basically I get 3-4 on the good team that stomps, 1-2 close games and 3-4 on the team getting stomped. Just gets tiring when 70% of the games are blowouts, with maybe 10-15 players actually trying to play on the losing team.

It is rare that good players leave from the winning team, not that common that they leave when on the losing team either. It is mostly the middle of the table guys and lower that leave. Most of the wild swings in games come from players wanting to pad their stats going for points your team doesn't need while leaving all 3 of your points undefended. Suddenly 20 players from your team on an unimportant point and the enemy team has 4 to 1 in points. by the time you get control back, if you do, the differential has often swung 300-400 tickets in favor of the opponent.

A few players don't have that much impact on conquest. Breakthrough on the other hand has a lot more opportunities for a few players to influence the result.
