Battlefield 6

Battlefield has always nailed that part. Speakers, headphones, whatever system you have it'll sound amazing.

I don't know if it's the same audio engineers every time, but for sure they didn't lost the expertise acquired over the years. Even 2042 has no audio faults (well the music blows but that's a subjective thing). Every episode is top notch in that department.

But they have yet to top the most satisfying sound in Battlefield history: The BF1 kill confirmation

The game runs well, I'm getting over 200fps but I limited it to 150fps, the GPU is only at 50-60ish percent usage depending on the map, the CPU is around 40-50ish percent. As far as the game itself I've gotten in a few tanks but it's difficult getting around in the city maps, overall I don't have much to complain about.

First weekend of the BF6 open beta is more than halfway through and I'll say my experience has been very good imho. BF6 has got BF3/4 vibes but its different in the same way BF3 was different from BF2. I'm excited for the future of BF6 and can't wait for the next open beta weekend and ultimately the final game release.

The spawns are seriously nuts on some modes.

Like king of the hill - push onto point, start capturing it. And you're sometimes already getting shot in the back from where YOU just spawned and came from 15 seconds prior by the people you just killed.

The game just seems to value being a clusterfuck over actually having any counterplay. And the rounds are super short so it isn't particularly conducive to big comebacks or anything interesting like your squad getting a beacon down in a clutch position and setting in motion your taking of the point.

10 minute rounds are lame.

Breakthrough on that snow map is by far the best map in the game I think.

Got a bit more game time in and a few more noteworthy things

Up until my last few rounds I'd been playing Conquest. I was liking it, but not loving it. I decided to try my hand in Breakthrough and enjoyed that quite a bit more. The map sizes seem to be more "breakthrough" friendly. I do hope we see some actual large maps because I do enjoy Conquest but needs the right ratio of map size/player count/vehicles for it to "work" IMO

Also switched over to my main box for a few rounds to really appreciate the difference and felt it was easier to spot enemies and everything was generally sharper and clearer. On my sig i'm running mostly maxed out settings with a few items ticked down a notch like HBAO, volumetric settings at high instead of ultra and for shadows i'm using the "less soft" option, forget what they call it. But i'm also running DLAA instead of DLSS

I did run into one glitch where i was getting all sorts of odd artifacting, almost like my VRAM was clocked too high, but that cleared up on respawn.

Yeah Im about 3/4 of the way to level 20. All I can say is Im stoked. I haven't pre ordered a game in a very long time. Especially an EA title. But they got my 100 bucks. Cant wait to see the changes for next weekend!

I am running everything max settings at 4k on a 5070ti. I have no issues whatsoever with slowdowns.

This game just makes me feel like I have never played a FPS before. It feels like it takes forever to kill anyone, but I die instantly while the game tells me I got shot 5 times. What gun is everyone using? Usually the starting weapons are decent, but I am just not having any fun.

You can't play tactically due to the spawns at least in dom and king of the hill.

There's definitely no tactical aspect to it. Just who has quicker reflexes and aim.
Not at all accurate. That’s more like cod, if you’re going into this relying on your reflexes, you’re gonna come out at the bottom of the scoreboard. You absolutely need to make use of cover, try to flank the enemy, while being aware enough not to get flanked yourself, and learn the choke points on the map.

Most people struggling in BF are playing it like COD. I did too as I haven’t really been able to get into BF since BFV and had to unlearn my COD style gameplay

If I do the chokey chokey will the big bad smokey smokey come and get me?

I just got done playing 3 hours of the Closed Weapon Conquest and I thoroughly enjoyed it. No more flying squirrels, rejoice!

Initial thoughts:
  • I am glad the quick attachment change is gone, always hated that. There needs to be a reward/punishment for having the right/wrong attachments per spawn.
  • All of the 3 maps seem infantry focused, no need for vehicles.
  • I don't feel engineer should be able to equip both AT and AA rockets plus they have too many rockets. Their needs to be an emphasis on diversifying player loadouts, some people focused on AT and others AA. Also an emphasis on teamwork to take down vehicles. I'm looking at you Recon, so many glints.
  • Support feels too easy to revive. I need to pay attention to how quick the defib is next time I play. I love the drag and revive mechanic so I wonder if there should be something more to defibbing; I feel being able to sprint by and *ZAP* is a bit OP.
  • Needs a hardcore mode.
I depleted my initial thoughts so I will need to play more.

Biggest Concern: Maps. 6 out of the 9 maps seems infantry focused, some literally stated as such. Of the new maps only Mirak Valley is described as "all-out-warfare." I hope they go the BF4 way of releasing at least 4 maps every few months. 2042 map game was terrible.

Also I have chromatic aberration and all that shit disabled, but STILL get screen distortion at the edges sometimes.

I swear sometimes some post process gets screwed up and gets stuck on and it becomes ghosty and weird in motion. It's like my resolution drops to shit or DLSS is going crazy.

I have a 5070ti and do not use dlss at all for this game. I use dlaa and frame gen at 3x. Game looks gorgeous and plays great. Maybe try FG 3X and disable dlss.

Definitely cheaters, got into a game of breakthrough and the top player on the other team went 70-7, with a shotgun.

FG for an online shooter is a horrible idea.
Well I misspoke. I use dlss quality NOT dlaa and frame gen at 3x. I have no issues here. Everything seems to work okay. See how time holds up.

Edit: I took off frame gen completely and get 110 to 120 fps with just dlss quality and everything maxed out at 4k. Looks better with frame gen off. That could be just me.

Holding up isn’t the issue. FG helps give perceived smoothness but it introduces significant input lag. If you’re trying to win a gun fight, you’re at a huge disadvantage. It’s fine for slower paced single player games but but it has its costs

Nah, depends on your base fps and Nvidia reflex. In many games, the added input lag can be very little so long as you start with a base fps of 60-70. If you have that you might see an extra 10ms, on top of your default 20-25 then. The advantage is that you get far better smoothness and motion clarity to gun people down with ;). It's no good at low fps base frames, of course. However, he said his base is over 100, so it's all gravy from there.

I've learned rather than base my settings on preconceived notions, I just try out different settings myself before forming a judgement on the experience of whether it's better ON or OFF on a per game basis.

Yep, things vary game to game. It's always best to check on it yourself, though some rules do apply to some settings. Sometimes it's just plain math.

Yeah I disabled frame gen totally and just run everything at max with 4k res and dlss set to quality. My fps is around 105 to 115. Smooth too which is differing than what people are seeing.

I mean I just had a breakthrough game where I ended like 60/5 or some shit and I had a 50 kill game with the shotgun yesterday with single digit deaths.

If you're actually getting revived, your deaths will be very low.

Number is not at all impossible

That's because it is closer to COD than BF. The gameplay I have seen in every Conquest map boils down to Zerg swarming flags and constantly running in circles, or backwards and forwards, before an enemy gets behind you. There is no point playing defensively or strategically because the minute you stop moving you get swarmed from behind or the side. Players don't get penalised for running and gunning, if anything the game mechanics reward this behavior, and you can see it happening in real time where people choose to instantly respawn rather than waiting for a medic that is literally right next to them. This can be easily fixed by slowing down gameplay (get rid of ammo pool and infinite sprint, only allow spawning on squad leaders, increase respawn delay, etc), but EA/DICE are not interested in classic BF gameplay.....rather than offering something unique they want to pull in the COD base even though they have been persisting with this failed strategy since BF3.

I will bet my left nut it is because of DICE's shitty netcode and low server tick rate. Battle(non)sense has covered this phenomenon extensively ever since BF4 which was supposedly fixed, but it wouldn't be the first time DICE broke systems supposedly fixed in previous games.

Battlefield always comes down to this, finding some glitch or exploit and then destroying enemies. It's always been like that. They probably do it on purpose and then famous or unknown streamers record themselves.

View: https://youtu.be/fsQB7iJBlnQ?si=m0O_SxFIKTihGzJ3

People usually think that they are cheaters if they have a high k/d, but it doesn't have to be if you have a high k/d or a lot of points, they just know how to take advantage of the game.

There are two ways to exploit and glitch, when you are with a team or you find a glitch yourself where you don't need the team's help. EA and dice will never ban or patch all glitches and exploits. That has been proven many times.
There is a big chance that on 10.10. the game will be worse than this beta or completely different from this beta. And then for the next 6-12 months they will patch it constantly. And in the end the game will never be to everyone's liking, it will be good for some, unplayable for some. So never do preorders.

SMGs and Shotguns are quite accurate while moving, carabines are somewhat accurate while ARs are horribly inaccurate while you are moving or standing. Try crouching when firing or at least do your dodges, then stand still while shooting. Rest is just aim and recoil control.

Most of the automatic guns have recoil that must be controlled through aiming and bursting. Carabines and SMGs generally have fairly low recoil, but they will become inaccurate after some shots. ARs can be used full auto close up, but need to be fired in short bursts when far away or spray and pray at midrange.

Carabines are generally better than ARs at close and medium range unless you take steps to minimize recoil and inaccuracy effects. You could try those if you are really struggling with the ARs. In some ways the carabines are the most versatile weapons in the game as they have quite controllable recoil and don't loose out by much to ARs in damage, outside of at long range.

The game doesn't feel that far off from BC2/BF3/BF4. It does offer a bit more movement options, but otherwise it is not that different from the older battlefields. Not sure why playing defensively or strategically doesn't work in your games. Whenever I get a decent team it works like a charm in my games. I am of course assuming you mean defending control points by asserting map control, not hiding under a rock in the hills with a sniper.

The reason why players don't get penalized for running and gunning is because half the players in the beta are so bad at aiming that they couldn't hit a lake if they were standing at the bottom of it. You are so much more accurate while crouched or prone than when running, but someone who can't aim will miss so much on a moving player that they get owned. Against good players you will only get away with run and gun with SMGs and shotguns, the rest of the guns will be too inaccurate so they will just cut you down with a few bullets if they are crouched or standing still.

The constantly cap flags strat only works because both teams are doing it so no one is defending flags. If one team prioritizes getting the majority of the flags and then defend them, instead of chasing extra points for capping an extra flag then that team generally wins. Having 3/5 or even 3/6 and just defending flags while having lots of medics that resurrect will cause the opposing team to bleed so many tickets that they easily lose while your team barely loses tickets. It has been a landslide victory pretty much every time I've gotten on a team that understands that defending flags is important.

Have played quite a bit of BF6 and so far I am really liking the game. It feels a lot like BF3/BF4 gun play, with some extra movement added in. It rewards teamplay a lot, but unfortunately it seems like a lot of the players in the beta are new to battlefield. So annoying to have 4 medics within 10m, no enemies in sight and you still don't get revived after waiting 15+ seconds.

The vehicles are generally powerful, but at the same time vulnerable to a coordinated team. A few engineers can take out a reckless tank quite easily, but taking out a tank that is driven carefully with good engineer support is quite difficult and requires team effort.

The guns feel pretty good, but the shotgun is OP in close range and the ARs often lose out to carabines. Being able to kill someone in one shot to the body from the SG at 15m is ridiculous. Require no skill, just basic aim to use the SG and doesn't seem like running has much effect on the accuracy. It should need a headshot at anything above 2m IMO. The ARs have lots of recoil and the carabines have very little recoil and very similar damage and close to medium range, making it much harder to play with ARs than it should be. Hopefully they will add a bit of recoil to the carabines as it feels like you can spray half the mag with good accuracy on the carabines if you are standing still. You essentially need to be crouched to get anywhere near the same accuracy in the ARs. I would also prefer more bullet drop and sight sway on the snipers. It is too easy to use snipers at the moment.

The ammo count on the main weapon on assault drives me mad. Not sure why I only get 2 spare mags on my main AR while I get 6 or so on other classes. Being forced to run the largest AR mag to get somewhat decent amount of ammo on the assault class is kind of ridiculous. Also using a 40 mag instead of a 30 mag gives you 123 total ammo instead of 93, which is dumb. Having a backup carabine, that is just as good, if not better than the main AR is nice though. Not sure I am that much of a fan of the assault class being able to run sniper + carabine combo though. Sure it is harder to snipe as you always have scope sway, but snipers are too easy in this game. Having a full auto carabine as backup, instead of just a pistol allows you to both snipe and rush control points with just minor drawbacks while recon has a really tough time helping on control points due to pistol being fairly weak.

The maps are OK, but could definitely use some work. Conquest works much better on Iberian Offensive and Liberation Peak than on Siege of Cairo. Breakthrough fairly well on both Siege of Cairo and Liberation Peak though. The city maps feels smaller than they are, but they are on the small to medium scale in battlefield. Liberation Peak is on the medium to large, but still nowhere near the size of the maps like Caspian Border in BF3. My guess is you could fit 2-3 Liberation Peak maps inside Caspian Border.

Mostly played conquest and breakthrough feels like they tried to go more for a BC2 style battlefield, rather than the BF3/BF4 style with smaller maps. Will be interesting to see how the other maps are. There will should be at least 2 maps that are significantly larger than Liberation Peak, based on the map list preview that I've seen.

I'm going to guess that EA is going to ruin this game with the mocrotransactions and in game store. The beta is being suspiciously tame. I'm guessing progress and unlocks are going to be incredibly tedious and beyond time consuming in the final game versus the beta, and more items will be locked behind pay walls.

Also I think that store front won't be fully enabled until after all sponsored and early access reviews come out.

Is it true that what you unlock in the beta stays in the game when it comes out if you preorder?

I have been playing BF since 1942, you can bullshit everyone else as much as you want, you will never convince any long term player with these delusional excuses and rationalisations. The claim that the movement system is not far off BC2 is especially laughable.

Yeah, when I join a squad I immediately ask if "does anybody have their mic on" and most of the time they don't, ugh. Turn on your mics and PTFO!! That being said, I need to make a friends list of reliable players.

As for tanks I notice players don't jump into them when available. I don't think they realize how valuable armored vehicles are or are afraid they'll be a big target.

There are probably a few reasons for it. I have seen a few be cursed out because they made a bad decision and lost the tank quite fast in a reckless rush, but they have to learn how to drive it somehow. Personally I prefer being infantry and would rather repair tanks and shoot at people with my AR or SMG than drive the tank. Battlefield is battlefield because of the vehicles, but that doesn't mean everyone wants to drive them all the time. It sucks when the enemy gets them because no one takes them though.

I highly doubt that is the case. There are a few skins, icons, and 1 weapon build that you get when the game releases, by completely certain challenges.

Battlefield issues were never transactions, unless you're thinking Battlefront 2, which they fixed later. There is zero reason to think this will be any different here.

BF V and 1 had only skins to buy (which you could also get for free by doing limited time missions), and unlocking actual equipment by playing was not long, and not critical, the starting kits were competitive, there is no BF game where this isn't true. Even BF2042. What you unlock is options, not raw power like some MMO.

BF2042 had a failed 128 player mode with horrible maps, took away the classes and added over the top gadgets, but at the same time managed to regress on gameplay mechanics compared to older titles (infantry movement was dogshit coming from BFV). It didn't fail because of microtransactions at all. It was literally just a badly designed game on release, it's playable now but just not a worthy sequel to previous BF titles.
