Nope... found out that even tho i thought i completely removed avira, there was still a part of it left with quarantine. Guess what was in the quarantine... BF3beta..... go figure... Im sorry EA ill give ya another chance... :p

Yes I admit it unlike most people, I fucked up.... I over reacted just a tad... ;)

As for all the beta whining... yes its a BETA... but do you really think they can fix all this in a month when it goes gold? Your just kidding yourself.
 
How does anyone here, know how old this code we are playing is...

We dont, This could have been done 2 weeks after alpha came out...

Considering we don't have anywhere near the latest build, it is certainly possible. Will it be bug free? Of course not, no game is, particularily a BF game, but I don't think expecting all the major stuff to be sorted by the time it goes gold is unrealistic.

Yep, the only thing we can hope is that the rumors that this build is 3 weeks old are true. That would give a LITTLE more time to fix as many bugs as possible. Either way, I smell a patch coming soon after release.
 
I am liking the beta quite a lot. Sure there are some bugs, but they can be worked out. My largest gripe is very poor hit detection against opponents in prone. I'll shoot dudes right in the face while they are prone and it doesn't register. The ridiculously overdone scope glare is a bit over the top too.
 
I played for about 5 hours solid tonight. No disconnects at all and no other major problems.

Worst problem was sinking into the ground sometimes, and finiding a server with an open slot!
 
From the moment you guys click connect to server, how long does it take for the game to start?

My Game Manager says "Joining Server", but nothing seems to happen. I've tried five different servers and have waited five minutes on the current one.
 
Takes me about 10-15 seconds to be in the game once i click connect. Really fast actually and much better than i would've thought. I have no SSD btw, so it's a standard WD 750GB Black drive it's on-
 
Hmmm... strange that I just get stuck in the "joining server" loop. Maybe I'll try to reset.

edit: apparently a window opened that I didn't see. updating drivers now.

I'd prefer Metro a lot more if the metro station wasn't apart of the map :p If feels way too linear down there. I really hope they put a beta map out with vehicles...I mean this is Battlefield 3, vehicles are what make Battlefield a Battlefield game (other than huge landscapes). Other than that, my friends and I played a solid 3 hours tonight. Definitely good stuff, can't way to see all the minor glitches to be fixed!
 
anyone else getting this error message?
this comes up everytime I try to connect to a game,
I played for about an hour this afternoon...very few problems, then I get this shit.

I witnessed things on the last server I was on that makes me say there are cheaters already. There were 2 people who consistently knew just where to point the flash light and shoot as soon as they rounded a corner, time after time. These 2 ended up with scores of 6k and 5k, In the 6 hours I played before that match, I never witnessed people do what they did.

Pass was leaked for Caspian all over the internets, so people were swarming the servers, everything is down atm...
 
well once I got my internet and driver issue sorted out -- I'm rather impressed actually so I take back the nasty things I said about the beta for now.

That's not to say work needs to be done. I'm on a 280GTX 2600K @ 4.5Ghz, 16GB of ram.... running on a 27" HP 1920x1080p monitor, and in medium settings I can get nice smooth gameplay. Game looks good, but I'm hoping they tweak the lighting, colors, and graphic glitches.

they need to add a box for PING in the scoreboard.

I'm rather surprised my GTX280 is still holding pretty good. I was tempted to blow 250-300 dollars now and jump to an ATI 6950 or 6970, however it just doesn't seem worth it to spend any money when the 7000 series is so close.

I'm sure once LOTS more servers are online, and they iron out the bugs in battlelog and in game, it will be quite a nice shooter that will last for years.

lol was just going to say this, in fact I clung onto the hope that the "beta" was old and would be fixed by release. The reality of the matter is, what we are seeing right now is going to be very similar to the final release. I mean who are we kidding, BC2 beta IIRC was about a month long and was farther from actual release then with BF3 beta. Expect some polish for final release but nothing groundbreaking, patches will still need to be incoming.

Fail. That's a matter of opinion and not fact. You get the facts by playing.
You, who refuse to download Origin would think the game came be judged by some crappy stream of some else playing.
Maybe you should enjoy all of your games through live streams from now on.
 
Fail, go play your console like a good little boy, the grown ups are busy with their PC's playing a big boy game :)
 
I'm getting decent fps with my Q9650 @ 4.275ghz and a gtx260.

* Min is 45fps
* Average 55fps
* Max 125fps (looking at sky)

This is on low settings 1600x1200, but still looks decent. I sold my 5870 to bitcoiners, so waiting to see what I should get...

Right now even on low my GPU is pegged at 100% usage running 1600x1200, and my CPU usage is around 65-70%.

What kinda CPU/GPU usage is everyone else getting?
 
There's an update to the client. It's 3.9gb. Refresh your games list then right click and do "check for update".
 
wow, talk about a waste of bandwidth. Why not just stream an actual update vs making thousands of people re-download the entire (updated) game all over again. I've got a 30mb pipe that's being saturated while downloading the update which means it won't take me long but not everyone has that.

New map? An update isn't this large.
 
Operation metro bores me to tears. The game seems more like moh than bc2 to me, and that is not a good thing. Would like to be able to use 90 fov before I decide if I like this game or not.
