If anything people should warm-up or practice for BF3 with BC2. BF3 uses Frostbite 2. BC2 uses Frostbite. BF2 uses its own un-named engine. Me thinks BF3 will feel a little more like BC2 than BF2. The gameplay structure could very well be more like BF2, however. Speculation is fun.
The movements, and weapons may feel more like BC2 but the gameplay will be more like BF2 I think.

I do hope so. I really dislike the weapon spread model in BF2/2142.

Wait... are you guys seriously arguing about this? It's a game! Who frickin' cares if it could/would really happen? Sheesh... I could care less where BF3 takes place. Give me a game that plays, looks and sounds great.
BF2 was realistic. BF3 is not, Terminator is more realistic. C&C Generals was realistic. America invading, thats realistic but someone invading america? Unless that someone is Darth Vader its not possible even if USA doesnt have an army to protect it its still not possible.

Where did you get that information? I know Homefront is a "America gets invaded" but i hadnt heard BF3's SP is the same. From everything i've read and the teasers iv seen, it looked like plain old marines in the middle east story line.
It's an assumption made based off the fact that the game description says your a Marine and locations include New York and Paris...among others

it's a video game, just stick to bf2 if that's what you want to play. This has to be most ridiculous complaint I've ever heard about any video game.
Battlefield 3 is retarded because it's not possible ever that the US could be invaded by anyone because the US is the best and because everyone has guns and they will kill the invaders and nobody has the stuff to invade and anyway why would anyone want to invade because we already gave them democracy so what more do they want from us

While your post is over the top, you do mention something of interest. There are more firearms than people in the USA. Could you imagine an invader having to deal with 320,000,000 Minutemen with access to 400,000,000 firearms?

If BF3 has a hardcore option, it damn well better make the game ARMA-istic. BF3 shouldn't "need" a hardcore option like that piece of junk, BC2.

I hope the bullet spread is much closer to BFBC2 than BF2...I'm no firearm expert, but bullet spread from automatic weapons shouldn't equal that of a sawed-off shotgun at 50-metre ranges.

Yeah, because there is a reason we have armed forces with training exercises and don't just give randomers firearms and call it an army. People are not equipped to deal with combat psychologically until they've been conditioned. Even if they have been trained properly a large proportion of people still don't have it in them to kill another human being unless they're sufficiently disassociated from the target, like an Apache gunner or someone targeting offshore artillery or something.

Its not possible at all for one nation on this earth to invade USA, maybe attack yes, maybe somehow take over one State before it gets taken back by US the week after followed by mass nuke launches at wherever that threat was from. US gov would commit genocide if it means being safe from invasions. US also is surrounded by two oceans making it impossible to even plan an offensive of any sort (unless the invader got some sci-fi military tech). Since US is the most advanced then an invasion is highly impossible. Mexico or Canada are the only weak points, but then BF3 would have to not exist at all in present time, when it shows Mexico already invaded by foreign force, thats assuming the whole latin america and world failed to save mexico. That leads us to another point, that invading force (ex. china) can not invade and protect its homeland at the same time not that it can anyway, it lacks air and naval power, and it wont benefit economically or politically from invading USA at all. A revolution in china would be immanent then.
The only way for an invasion or attack on USA to occur, would be either through civil war, mexico attacks texas, a coalition force between Russia and China. The former two can be ruled out because the game doesnt look like its about a civil war and Mexico wont be able to attack New York. Russia and China team together? they may be able to attack US but its still very far-fetched that these two would form an alliance.

You miss understand, I'm not against any of the locations in the game...I'm thoroughly excited about playing this.
Another angle to the whole "America invasion" side discussion is the diplomatic repercussions...most of the world would come down hard on the invading nation through U.N. sanctions or military action.

I'm fully expecting no less than 3 official delay announcements for BF3. I'll be thrilled if they get this out the door before year's end. I'm not counting on it, however...

IMO, if the US ever gets taken over, it won't be by traditional means unless a rival country develops some awesome technology that our spy satellites and agents don't detect. They'll do it form within by throwing tons of money at campaigns and occupying key positions in our government. Once they've occupied enough key positions in office, then they'll throw tons of money at members of congress to get votes passed that suit their interests. It would be a very slow and gradual process.
With that said, I really dgaf where the game takes place as long as it's fun which I fully expect it to be.

You don't need to be psychologically trained in order to defend your nation. Your fellow people being slaughtered is immense motivation. Just look at the start of America. We had a pitiful Army yet we handed the British their asses on many occasions.
In WWII, the United States was expecting to lose in the neighborhood of one million soldiers while invading Japan. Those people didn't even have many firearms! There is no other nation on Earth that would be harder to invade than the United States.
