It's going to rock all our socks as we raze entire cities....wonder if they'll have the new grenade launchers that are being fielded that are airburst he rounds...that would add a whole new dimension to toob whoring lol
 
Oh how very very sad for a franchise that began in a WW2! Now its just about attracting the COD crowd by doing maps around NY and Paris instead of possible warzones in third world countries. How sad. Just call it BF 2142 sequel. I dont think its an invasion map btw, New York must be some kind of commando style attack against certain keypoints, beats me what they are, wall street? I will not even try to guess this game seems comic-book like.

i'm looking forward to some new locations. there are so many games that take place in the typical middle-eastern desert terrain. also, i loved BF2142 :p
 
There is cairo, baghdad, tripoli, turkey, Tokyo, Kampala, Harare and a hundred more, if you want city there is plenty of it everywhere, just dont do US or the good parts of europe. I liked 2142 too, and if BF3 was set in the future with lasers and all then okay but its selling itself as a fun realistic battlefield game.
 
New York is a tired map, thousands of games are set in New York at least COD did washington which was new. Either way its unrealistic, DICE should remove it from the game before release and they can do a DLC or treat it as a bonus set in alternate reality.
 
Plus I can't imagine an invasion on new york that doesnt involve aliens. I wouldnt put it past DICE to have a twist in BF3 where aliens show up. Why not its not like they are going for realistic nowadays. Someone shouldve told them "less is more". New York has too many buildings.
 
I cannot wait to attend the GDC tomorrow and see some Battlefield 3 closeup. I do hope they will have some playable content!!!!
 
Reaction to single player info is not great. Oh my. Graphics get high marks but everything else is just a COD clone.
 
So for the $64,000 question dioxholster, have you played BF3 yet? Cause if you have, you could save everyone here some heartache and post a review with all the details as to why its a COD clone. Because LAST time i checked..... the Battlefield franchise was the first big name franchise to go into the modern era. COD4 modern warfare didnt come out until 2.5 years AFTER..... So, who copied who?

This thread definitely needs more spurious complaints about people's fashion and how bf3 is a modern shooter so it's a clone of every other modern shooter, etc. :rolleyes:

They said back in December or January that they'd be unveiling it on March 1st at GDC. I'm expecting it to be more of a technical showoff of FB 2.0, but you never know.. I'm hyped for whatever comes tomorrow :D
 
Not sure where your getting cod clone from...as was said earlier the battlefiield franchise has been going longer and battlefield has more then just infantry combat like cod. When's the last time you drove a ship, plane, or vehicle in COD...oh wait, you can't...

It is going to be there according to the email that I received a few days ago about some of the highlights that will be at the show. BF3 was listed at the top. While the show will be mainly about the Frostbite 2 engine, I am sure they they will have some games that will be playable...

BF3 might sort of be a COD clone. As for my opinion on the Battlefield franchise, obviously all my complaints are aimed at BF3 being a COD wanna-be. I like all the previous battlefields, especially 1942 and BF2. And I currently play BC2. I havent touched COD ever since the 4th one. So why can't anyone here believe that one of you is very skeptical of BF3? Its a very ambitious game and if you seen all the interviews, they aint really aiming to please PC gamers, they are using it to lure the console gamers in a big way. Thats why they pulled out the Commander feature as well as having maps like New York. This is all to pander to the lowest kind of gamer. And I can't imagine myself playing battlefield for month on end on a New York map; it will get stale fast, there is no desolate beauty in it. And far from being realistic.

That would be perfectly ok by me and probably most BF fans as the SP is a distant secondary concern to the MP. The BF series has always been about MP.

All the trailers and teasers so far have been about how awesomly cinematic the SP is. Nothing yet on MP, except that it would be set in uninteresting and unrealistic locations such as new york and paris. its like a cartoon.
 
I fail to see how two heavily armed military factions battling it out in paris and new york could be considered "uninteresting".

cliche and new york setting make the whole war scenario out of touch with whats going on in the world today. You can't take it seriously.

Having seen the abomination that is BC2...and the latest MOH? No. No I'm not. DICE is a terrible dev....going from the shitty LOD, to the shitty gun balance, to a worthless unlock system...shitty server that lag out...shitty attitude to widescreens back in BF2...yeah. DICE can go die.

No shit they're going to try and bring in more console gamers. It's an open market and BFBC2 did fairly well, so why wouldn't they try and sell more across all platforms? Also, what in the world led you to believe that they're not aiming to please PC gamers?

Someone said (and I'm looking for the article) that people wouldn't miss the commander after seeing the mechanics of BF3's MP. It may have been DICE, but it's been a while since I read it, so it could of just been heresay. Done right, there's no need for it.

Also, you keep nagging about a New York map. Here's an idea. Play a different map! As for the whole realism thing, it's a game... I don't expect an arcade shooter but I also don't expect ARMA. Obviously, some aspects of realism will be dropped for something a bit friendlier to gamers. I seriously don't understand why you're trying so hard to hate. At this point I almost feel like we're all being trolled pretty hard lol...

Speak for yourself, I think it would be very interesting. I for one am glad it's taking place where it is as it's a fresh new idea which I can't wait to get into. Clearly this game is not for you, so just don't by it and don't play it.
