Origin can have me as a customer if they give me the middleman's cut. It sucks that they eliminated the middleman with Origin and then didn't share the savings with the customer.

With that kind of behavior, I'll just go to Best Buy and help some locals keep their jobs. Same price.

I understand. I think they would win over the rest of the Steam-fanboy hold outs if they offered the game for $49.99 on Origin. They are currently offering almost every Pre-order bonus combined to those that pre-order on Origin, and for those in the Alpha a free game (ME2, BC2, DS2), that straw the break the camels back should be a discount or at least $10 EA/Origin credit (like amazon does) so they can keep the $10 in their pocket essentially. It guarantees the person will use it to buy something else on Origin which keeps them coming back to Origin. All they would need after that is a amazing Sale of great games and i think they would really have 90% of PC gamers. Other than that, they need to keep crazy DRM from Origin, keep Origin's nose clean (no malware, no tricks, no data mining) and keep the updates/DLC flowing. Oh and NO issues with downloads. No "the file was corrupted!" or "it wont download they dont have enough servers!" etc.

Lol ironic the people bitching most about "another bloatware piece of program i have to have to install to get games, why cant it all be on steam!" are the people with insane rigs, OS on SSD so everything is insanely fast and Terabytes of storage (and probably NAS). So of all people to complain, its the ones least affected. How hard is it really to encrypt a 1Gb box, drop a word document in it with all your Usernames and passwords, and to sign into Steam/Origin/GOG etc and have the preference be "save my UN and Pass, auto login". Is it REALLY that horrible? We complain now about too many ways to get games and amazing deals now? lol. Diversity, competition and expansion is really a bad thing?

Thanks. I was hoping for a little more BF2 style with earning badges by X hours with a gun, x kills in a round, x repair/revive/resupply in a round but oh well...at least they brought medals back. Game should still be awesome though :)

it was retarded in BF2

the gold armor one was FOUR HUNDRED FUCKING HOURS of sitting in an armored vehicle

Confirmed that BF3 is never coming to steam.

BF3 will not be available on Steam as the service restricts our ability to directly support players http://+++++++/nLooUi ^NW

Gamers can pre-order Battlefield 3 at Origin.com as well as over 100 digital retailers worldwide. EA offers games to all major download services. Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content. No other download service has adopted these practices.

Translation: steam is the only digital download service which does not simply sell a key and where the games are tied to their own digital platform instead of ours.

Since none of those 100 digital retailers sell to Australia (or sell DLC to us), we're kinda fucked when it comes to getting DLC. BFBC2 Vietnam at AU$20 for the win...

hate to burst your bubble - but best buy makes pretty much no profit on software/games.

Their profit makes are the cables, extended warranties, and most hardware.

I am kinda kicking myself though I just picked up bad company 2 last week for 20 bucks and then find out Origin has it for 5 dollars.

oh well - i only bought it to kill time and get used to the Battlefield style of play.

If they lowered their price, then no one else would sell it as why would anyone buy except direct from EA?

You have to think of their overall business.

I pre ordered Bf3 a couple of weeks ago and got that email alot of us alpha testers got telling me I was entitled to a free game. So not only did I get 20% off my BF3 preorder but I got Deadspace2 for free as well. I picked DS2 because I already own ME2 and MoH. I also got DA2 for free from EA a couple of weeks ago because of another reason so all in all EA has done very good by me and I have zero complaints with origin. I can't wait to play TOR and BF3 this fall.

Anyone know if Origin charges tax in WA state? Not that it'll affect me buying the game or not...

I would like to pick up BFBC2 Vietnam for $5 but my BFBC2 is on Steam... will it work?

It should, it's just a code that you use in bfbc2. When you start bfbc2 and click on Thr Vietnam link on the left, you just put your code in and bam.

I paid $44.99. I got my middleman cut. Coupons/promos have been flying around on BF3 for months on Origin. Keep looking.
Bought digital copy, no tax in FL were EA has a huge campus in Orlando, FL.

Looking where? on google or you mean on Origin? I have to pre-order by tomorrow (for free Dead Space 2) but really want to get it __% off if i can find a way. I tried that Gunclub sign up thing but still havent gotten a email with the 25% off all shooters promo.

went ahead and pre-ordered via Origin -- sad its not on steam, but I'm not a bitch and will play the game however I can :)

Main thing that made me preorder was access to the beta in september - that will help me gauge whether and when I need to upgrade my video card. Wish I could have gotten a free dead space 2 game, but I wasn't an alpha tester.

How did I miss this? I didn't know you received access to the beta if you pre-ordered. Have I been sleeping for a month or well, never mind. How long is that good for?

I have been trying to ask Alan Kertz via twitter whether the SP campaign will require an online connection (aka DRM). So far no answer.....

because he's probably smart enough to ignore loaded questions like this

someone will find something to blow out of proportion, one way or another. doesn't matter that the absolute vast majority of BF players play it as a MP title and spend 99.9% of their time there. just like the retarded fucking diablo 3 thing, it's just looking to stir shit.

Its a pretty simple question, its either yes or no. The only reason he would have not to answer is because of a potential backlash prior to release. I am willing to bet that EA is going to play this bullshit game of imposing unnecessary DRM on SP for no good reason....

thankfully i've already played the game (and now own it) and it's shown me that i can survive the 2 seconds it takes for origin to automatically start and log in after clicking a server so i don't give a fuck either way.

don't buy the game then if you're so worried, i got it for $45 off origin and a free game to top it off.

There are a shit ton of people that only played d2 in single player...So no it's not trying to start shit and blow stuff out of proportion.

There is a metric fuckton of people that simply play single player and do not touch MP for all games. Having to login to origin and battlelog to simply play SP is fucking ludicrous and utterly draconian.

I agree, it's a stupid way to screw over the paying customers. But I will stop here, I don't want to derail this thread any further.

Hence the reason why publishers think they can walk all over consumers....but I am sure you do not give a shit about the erosion of gaming as a hobby as long you get to revel in immediate self gratification. At the rate we are going it won't be too long before gaming turns in a streaming rental service where users own and control nothing.

who the fuck has ever seriously ran out to the store on release day, eager to crack open a copy of their new battlefield game and dive right into killing some bots alone?

playing D2 offline was dumb 11 years ago and OVER ONE DECADE LATER it's still an issue? please get fucking real.

Go away troll.

Holy shit, how dare anyone not think and behave like you?

Given that BC1, BC2 and BF3 have fully fleshed SP campaigns, there are probably a lot of people who have cracked open a battlefield game to play SP.
